The Browns Board

This is just shooting out my ass but who isn't with less than 2 weeks until the draft? The key is this: If at least 3 Qbs are taken the first 9 picks we will stay at 10, because we will be guaranteed at least 1 of our top 2 rated OT. This is based on the the following players going before us: Burrow, Young, Simmons, Okudah, Tua (or Herbert), Love, Brown, and Kinlaw. If there is a surprise and one of these non-Qbs slide to us then we will stay at 10 and take that player.

If, however, only 2 Qbs are taken ahead of us, then that means it's likely that we will have most likely a shot at only are 3rd rated OT and that the non-Qbs above also won't be available to us. Not only that but there will still be a highly rated Qb on the board that some team will want to trade with us in order to get him. The combination of our 3rd rated OT vs. moving down a few slots and picking up more picks will be worth it at that point.

So how many Qb go 1-9 will decide.

I like the way you think... and not just because I agree with you...

Well mostly for that reason actually... 😉

Confusing - now it looks like Thomas, Jones and Wills will be gone like a freight train before the fifteenth pick.

Based on appraisal of the OT position, yes, but it's so much more complicated than that.

First there are the other positions to consider... If three QBs go in the  Top Ten, and It's likely they will (Burrow, Tua, Herbert)... add Young., Simmons and Okudah who are all Top Ten worthy... and you have 6 slots gone. That leaves three between us and our OT...

Add that while I love the value of Thomas and Jones at 10, I would not spend our #10 and #41 (or a future #1) to move up to take either. Obviously doesn't guarantee that no team will trade up for an OT, but at least the value in doing so is not obvious... at least to me.

So Jones at #15 is one of many possible scenarios. And that's what teams are busy doing now... creating various scenarios and rehearsing their reactions including feeling out other teams intentions and willingness to deal picks later this month.

Then it all depends on how the Draft unfolds in reality.

Best news? It's gonna be here before you know it.

Too bad these posts are dated. Otherwise I could accuse you of stealing my ideas ?

So if we are right we get to puff our chests out for a week, right?

However there is a lot out there saying TB wants to move ahead of us to get one of those OTs which they also are desperate to fill.

    A week?

Sheeeeeeet... I'm good for months... at least until the evidence starts to literally play out.

  • Here's some food for thought:

The ULTIMATE Cleveland Bowns mock draft:

    lol

  • I like the positions targeted & when here... https://cleveland.com/browns/2020/04/a-tackle-help-on-defense-and-the-cleveland-browns-perfect-nfl-draft-2020.html  a few more names may also fall into this position plan..but let the talent lead you to the links position plan, say about Rd.3

  • I didn't bother, and won't bother doing a mock this year.    Mostly because of the reasons the above post describes.   This is going to be an odd year and every year that isn't this one, some GM somewhere always makes a pick which turns everyone's head.     I expect several of those Thusday night.

  • This draft will be fun. A lot of "shots in the dark" may be fired! I'l be watching for sure.

    Slowest Xmas ever!??

  • It's difficult to predict which OT will be there for us at #10.  As Tour's post suggests, Who know's which team is rating which OT 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.?

  • tua at 2 ? I say yes washington could still find a play maker at 5 or 6 and need help on both sides of the line

side note: tua at 2 would pay off very well if you like to gamble

  • twas the night before the draft and  no one seems a lurking with thoughts of linemen or safties in their head Gip would like a LB that could kill off lamer's head  Tour would like a trade down if we traded for williams that was said as for the rest of Fuck i dunno lets just hope we do not draft a mandarich

The kid is made of glass and got what, a 12 on the intelligence test?

Hard pass, if it were me.

We're psyched for the draft...so we can see what new players may not even play this year.

I think we're 'conditioned' by so many years of anticipating the draft since October(s)....having the #1 pick, or the #2, #3 or #4....and the 22nd.  Except THIS year it's the closest thing there is to 'sports' activity.

I would go for the trade down also if we got Williams.   What would that trade be for?  Two first rounders?  Or at least one lower in round one and another at top of round 2......without giving up  #41.      Then we could get  the LB,  S....and whatever else we need....if we had  3 picks in the top 41.

    On Vixens.....3 of them:

  • Above could be the most detached mock of the entire silly-season.

Mekhi Becton is possibly the best left tackle in the draft, at worst he's second best. He has elite footwork and technique.

... and yet we land him at pick #30?

lol... Calls for that pic of Gipper standing next to Ricardo Montalban.

And our reward for trading down 20 spots from 10 to 30? A late 2nd and a 5th....

Then we get a 3rd for letting NYJ move up 7 spots in the 2nd?

The player selections are nearly as funny.

  • More like the silliest mock of any silly season. It's right for the times.?
