  • im sure you "claim" everything.... like the rest of the bar entertainment industry.... Try that bs on someone else..

That article funny I hope you actually read it BECAUSE EVERYTHING I STATED ABOUT SOUTH KOREAN MEDICINE WAS IN THERE ALSO... idiot posting information that only backs up everything i stated.

Thanks for verifying basically what I thought you were, uninformed and my Korean family actually supporting more U.S. causes than anything you ever did. Unless you call that music you produce for psychological warfare against enemy combatants.

I have an idea why dont you go to another town hall and start screaming about topics you dont understand or care to... At least with those people you have something in common with..... mindless, zombielike, uneducated devotion to ignorance......

I am sure your federal tax income contribution is equivelent to your education level..... which from your posts and obvious ignorance LOW to MEDIOCRE...

Its hard to pigeonhole anyone from random posts but I think in your case its pretty evident. Did you even read that article you posted? the stats or the terminology? like SUPPLY SIDE CONTROLS? or even the same exact stats I stated about private ownership? good god you are a dimwit.

"SOUTH KOREA ACHIEVED universal health insurance in 12 years. This remarkable achievement started modestly in 1977 when the government mandated medical insurance for employees and their dependents in large firms with more than 500 employees. In 1989, national health insurance (NHI) was extended to the whole nation."

So tell me how the Obama plan differs.

Or tell me anything the Omaba plan does.

Or anything the Obama plan doesn't do.

Or be honest and say you have no clue.

Or be more honest and say "Sorry Steve, I realize nobody insulted my ethnic background."

    Or just STFU.

    WSS

  • Keep your attempted cultural derogatory comments to yourself.

    Idiot.

    PS that ain't cultural.

    WSS

  • Sev, at least you TRY to have legit opinions. but crossing the line into

offsetting the legitimacy of opposing views by going off the deep end about defending

your heritage is unecessary, since I didn't see that in Steve's posts at all.

Bringing up other systems in other countries, etc, does not mean someone is dissing

you family's members who served. That's a fallback defensive mechanism that does

no good to the board, or legit discussion.

As far as quips go, most of us have our quips going - Steve does, mz the pussy does, T does, I do, a lot of us do here and there...

but if your inference is, you want serious discussion instead of quips, then go with the idea

of serious discussion without the outrage that was not really provoked. Just a few thoughts.

  • Lets see "Obamas" health care plan..... Considering what he is ASKING FOR IN GENERALITIES FROM THE CONGRESS first has yet to be fleshed out thats a bit difficult...

As a student of history that you are Steve I am sure you see where he cant and wont put specifics out like Clinton did and than watch Congress refuse his bully pulpit tactics.....

IF your reading comprehension from other posts finally comes into play you will see that I have stated there really is nothing cohesive DURING THE AUGUST recess as of yet and will be changed dramatically when they get back......

Cal Steve makes his comments and generalities on purpose to hide any sort of substance. Just like when he decided to post that story without reading it..... That plan in south Korea was massively controlled by the conservative pro business/insurance for profit industry kind of like what they are doing here right now... Any universal system without supply side controls has serious problems, the for profit model if left unchecked with cause instability and inequality of service.... You know kind of like it is here.

Korean culture is EXTREMELY pro business and conservative to its detriment and the health care system, i have been there and treated there and its very similar to here.... great health care IF you can afford it... horrible and inefficient if you do not.

  • Its funny that the insurance industry is crying about "unfair" advantage a NON profit driven goverment administered system (medicare/medicaid lower admin costs than for profit insurance) and are afraid of losing market share.......

RIGHT there is the source of their problem they dont want to change the system and be forced to cover pre existing conditions breaking their ponzi scheme. They dont want to compete because they all have boards and ceo's and massive administration costs to justify for their existance.

Its really fairly simple they dont want the competition to put them out of business or force them into competitive non profit service like in parts of europe..... non profit and efficiency means the 100k/hour salary goes out the door and the multiple paper pushing admins and not being able to play with other peoples money on the market which again has nothing to do with healthcare payments from consumers to providers....

    He didn't either.

He just thinks accusing me of it will get him sympathy.

And if the UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE THE KOREAN GOVERNMENT FORCED ON THE PEOPLE sucks it's likely it will suck here too.

    It cost too much.

Did you read the article I linked Cal?

    WSS

  • forced? We wanted it as a society. It sucks because FOR PROFIT RIGHT WING SPECIAL INTEREST SHAPED THE POLICY AND SYSTEM.

They own everything in the extreme pro business culture, you cant have 80% of all doctors as specialist and 90% of all health care assets owned by for profit health care that has NO supply side controls.... Health care systems are not simple as "universal health care sucks over there so my hypothesis is it is going to suck over here"

This is not a true universal system administered by the government... in fact the government is hands off and this is run by private for profit companies.... It is universal in the fact that coverage is mandatory either by company or by yourself with maybe 10% of the population subsidized if you cant afford it.

You just happen to use the exact for profit model that the right wing over here wants that is horrible in another industrialized nation. Good choice. Open mouth about things you dont understand or know anything about.

I could care less about sympathy from you or really anyone. YOU should have read the entire article you posted.... it only reinforces EVERYTHING i stated as the problems with the Korean system.........

That should be an example because of the tons of data on how it is absolutely necessary to have supply side controls and keep a check on for profit health care companies.

Guys, that's just tough to refute. It's that good of an article. You just have to man up, listen up, and grow as a human once in a while. Be humble. I do it all the time, believe it or not.

Not really. The article/author lumps the top 5% (as many do) into one group, because it's easy to make them the bad guys. The difference in the top 1% (CEO's, people who live in Conn., etc.) and percents 2-5 is a much larger divide than the divide between 6% and 99%.

Small business owners, make up the backbone of the economy fall into the 4-5% (and 6-15%) range, and they're the ones who get hit the hardest when taxes get hiked on all businesses (you'll notice the author refrained from using "small" business and did use the term "corporation"). Small businesses employ the majority of the country, so when their costs are increased, they're the ones to start cutting pay, innovation, and jobs. So yes, corporations pay generally no net federal income tax after their accountants earn their paychecks. But small businesses, after they pay their overhead and operating costs (with payroll, income, and the like) pay about 50% of what is left over every year.

Complaints (from a certain demographic) are not without merit.

Also, if "Lazy" is some secret code for "minorities," what is the difference in using the "Brooks Brothers" and "Khaki pants offensive" as jabs? I don't see one. IMO, the author's cred just bungee jumped with those phrases as his rubber-bands and ankle straps. Is it OK for me to write a published column referencing the "Starter Jacket Offensive"? (Do people even wear those anymore?) Probably not. *Cough* Imus *Cough*

And one more thing: Those evil bastards in the top 5-10% finance 3/4 of charitable organizations like United Way, Red Cross, Sal Army etc. With 15 minutes of research, and a little less vitriol, the author's entire premise is flawed. "Me first, screw everybody else." Sure. 🙄

What the hell are you braying about?

The Obama controlled health system (if some things he seems to want are true) merely forces emloyers to provide it.

The public mandate (which I support) covers the rest.

And the gov subsidizes those who actually cant afford it.

What they seem to want to force on us is that same lack of supply side contols.

Why don't you point out the vast difference smart guy?

You just happen to use the exact for profit model that the right wing over here wants that is horrible in another industrialized nation. Good choice. Open mouth about things you dont understand or know anything about.

Not me. The other lefties who get so giddy over any faked accusation of ethnic slurs.

YOU should have read the entire article you posted.... it only reinforces EVERYTHING i stated as the problems with the Korean system.........

Yes dumb ass that's why I posted the failings of the grand universal health system there.

It's collapsing under cost overruns just as it will here.

You lefties don't seem to have any desire for free market compromise.

    Call me when you do.

    Or tell ya what...

    List some YOU want.

(instead of just whining that somebody insulted your heritage)

As well as how ham handed government interference chokes the life out of the system.

Face it we're not going to put all doctors under the federal thumb as indentured servants.

    It isn't going to happen.

Even Medicare docs are still free men.

    Sorry about that.

  • And shep, to borrow one of your oft-used jabs: This article was born for cocktail parties, and not serious discussion. I can't think of a better example than this article; it just happens to be from the other side of the aisle.

"It's like I've been telling you, the town hall protesters and tea-party crowd really are crazy. And Salon has an article to prove it."

"I know, I've been saying the same thing all along..."

  • The wealthy in the United States are wealthy because at some point in their family, someone provided a product/service that benefited someone else and they were rewarded. I'm not talking about criminals like Enron, etc. I'm talking about legitimate business.

That's how free enterprise works. If you don't provide a good product/service at a good price, someone else will come along and compete with you. If you don't respond, people won't buy your product/service and you'll be out of business.

The more you attack the producer and give to the non-producer, the less incentive the producer has to continue producing. Why bust my hump when the guy sitting on the park bench gets the same deal? I think I'll sit on the park bench. The degree to which you do that is directly related to the poverty of the nation because when you do that enough, eventually the producer stops producing, and when that happens everyone is worse off. The USA is the wealthiest nation in the world because we interfere in free enterprise less than any other nation.

You can examine any nation in history that has done that to a high degree (USSR, Argentina, North Korea, India until recently) and look at how much of the GDP is controlled by government and compare that to how poor the people are.

I don't dispute this, but it works for one generation, not three or five or ten. That's royalty, and it's what we fought to free ourselves from during the Revolutionary War.

The Declaration of Independence guarantees our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The hoarding of wealth absolutely impinges on the pursuit of happiness by all... and it threatens liberty at several turns.

This is a good time to point out that we need to bring back a gigantic estate tax. That's one thing we should all agree on.

And who are you to tell a man he's not allowed to work hard enough to pay for his great-grand children's education? What did you do to earn the right to tax his family out of THEIR father's/mother's hard work. And by the way that is not royalty. Just 'cause our media likes to blow rich people up to biblical proportions does not make them royalty. Nor do you have any authority under either the implied nor expressed principals in the Constitution to take from one to "equal" your 'beginnings'.

What? Royalty was the king and his appointees who ruled over the colonies. Those who gained wealth by

their success, HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO LIFE, and the FREEDOM to PURSUE THEIR HAPPINESS BY BESTOWING upon

their heirs the wealth that they ALREADY PAID TAXES ON ALL THEIR LIVES.

Hoarding of wealth just makes you envious, which may make you pout and give up being successful,

but you ARE NOT FREE to try to TAKE THEIR WEALTH, DESTROY THEIR PURSUIT OF THEIR HAPPINESS, DESTROY THEIR DREAMS

and ENSLAVE their heirs to the hardships of having that wealth taken in a fit of corrupt socialist double talk.

    Give us a break. Really.
