    Now that the NHL/NBA and MLB Championships have been played , here is the last year that each of the now 49 major league cities (or market areas) in the US and Canada won a professional sports championship, or for those markets with no titles, the year they first had a major sports franchise there. In other words, it tells how long each area has been waiting for a title. This includes NHL/WHA, NBA/ABA, NFL/AFL/AAFC, and MLB:

      While the Raptors won a title a year or so ago,   no  Canadian team has won an NHL title since 1993 when Montreal did it.

        None of the "forlorn" cities got off the schneid this time around.    The last city to win a title where they had not won one since the 60s or 70s was, in fact, Cleveland with the Cavs title in 2016.    (Ergo, my avatar  homage).
