While true - So does not having to face the best 2 guys in our secondary (Denzel Ward and Ronnie Harrison).  My guess is a playoff team can handle injuries easier than a team coming off 6-10 football.

Man. Baker Mayfield sucks. He is so average.

I wish the "experts" in sports who said that would have it brought

back up to them, and they would have to own up to it....

That will never happen. Those guys have the easiest job in the world. They come up with these "hot takes" say whatever they want and move on.

That muppet Mel Kipper and Tod McShaw are even worse. How they get paid for "draft analysis" and neither one of the are ever close to anything makes me wonder about western civilization.

  • @orion said:

But beyond Johnny there were so many more 1st rounders whiffed upon.  You don't get to suck as bad, or for as long as we had without being bad at the draft.  It took a herculean effort by our owner to make sure he hired a litany of bad coaches and GMs.

You think Tannehill is better than Baker?  I can't argue that, as I'm not sure how good Baker really is....but I really wouldn't want to have to count on either of them having to take the team on their back to win games.  I think they both need the running games that they've got.

Your owner is well known in these parts. It's amazing that he was a pretty good at the truck stop business....well, federal indictments not withstanding. His brother was a much better governor.

Tannehill isn't Mahomes, but who is? But he's proved his mettle around here and I'll take him against most opponents we face. Having Henry in the backfield does make his life easier. But you still have to connect with receivers and make good decisions. His TD/INT ratio is still excellent.

He's still not the most physically talented in the AFC south....that honor still goes to Deshawn Watson who is having a good year now that their coach was fired. But it's probably too late to sneak into the playoffs considering their start.

One thing about our defense....every now and then we make opposing QBs look like they belong in Canton, regardless of their skill level. I'm hoping it's not going to be one of those games.

Tannehill did well against us.  -  There's no quit in you guys.  -  Good luck the rest of the way.

  • This game will be won or lost in the trenches. Whichever OL is able to impose its will to the greatest degree wins.

The way to stop... or at least slow.... Henry is to bottle him up and not let him reach the 2nd level with a head of steam. He needs a hole to be where it is supposed to be. Stuff him early and often and get a lead, then we effectively take him out of the game. And that tees up our now bookend DEs...

Easier said than done? Absolutely... both Titan OGs are having good years so Ogun and Richardson are going to have to be at their best to disrupt and keep our LBs clean. But if we can shift the burden to Tannehill, then we have favorable matchups on the edges and Tannehill is affected by pressure. He needs to be because Brown and Davis scare me going against our 2ndary.

    A little stat look-see...

    Titan Offense ranks:

    • 6th in scoring offense averaging 29.5 ppg.
    • 3rd in rushing averaging 158.2 ypg and T-5th in YPC (4.9)
    • 22nd in passing averaging 227.5 ypg and 7th in YPA (7.4).

    Titan D...

    • 20th in scoring D allowing 25.9 ppg.
    • 16th in rush D allowing 115.5 ypg and 4.3 ypc (16th best).
    • 28th in pass D allowing 268.5 ypg and 6.7 ypa (T-14th).

    We can do this...

Well....it was Norton (which included Westside Steve in my class) not Akron  ,  and it was Vrabel's Dad  Chuck who was a teacher/football coach there.   I never had him as a teacher nor did I play football....so to be honest, I never really interacted with the man.  He later went on to be a school principal at like Buckeye HS perhaps.

If you had wanted to share a classroom desk with Mike Vrabel you would have had to have attended Walsh Jesuit HS in Cuyahoga Falls.

I'll have to ask my pal's son if he ever crossed paths with Vrabel. He would have been a freshman at Walsh when Vrabel was a senior....

Ah, I'm going to take you off ignore soon Cal. I'm deserting that other forum shortly. Yall can believe whatever fantasies you want to over there. Had to reluctantly put my Mod hat on- after a Ghoolie wannabe couldn't control his potty mouth.

Baker just got beat a record by Otto Graham in this Sunday's game. It was interesting to find this sentence to say the least.

We got much more serious problems as a country. You occasionally dip your toe in the mud slop over there. I guess along with a few other Republicans I'm now an "enemy of the state".  Political opinion ended here.
