Executive of the year?

As much as I am loath to admit he might have been right I would think depodesta has more claim to that if he's in fact the guy that hired stefanski. Next in line would be Dorsey, except for the Freddy snafu. It's not exactly a magic feat the select the best tackle in College football and draft him at the top.

I would agree that DePodesta should get the nod here. Not only did he manage to not get fired the last few years, he somehow managed to weasel into the Haslam’s confidence through all the mayhem. And lo and behold, he really does seem to be a bright guy.
It’s easier to pull the strings when you’re the GM, but doing it as the “Chief Strategy Officer” for a fickle couple like the Haslam’s, in the midst of the drama that has occurred during that time, is an astounding feat.

Link is to Panthers analysis. Point is that there's still room for improvement on this item at Berea.
Late-round picks have not been good. Even if you think it's a crapshoot, which it very well may be.. Berry still can be better in this area. This very well may be organizational [scouting etc are also included] however ultimately Berry does have responsibility.

Overall it's too early for these kind of accolades (or poking at mid-round selections)... let's revisit in 2022.
That said when you look at all the moves and the working relationships/culture, then it's hard to not be impressed with what Berry has done out of the gate. Of course it's easy to "get along" when things are going well.
Here's to things staying "easy" for years to come.

If you ignore that there was hardly a consensus of who that "best tackle" was... then sure.

Well....do they not pick an "NFL Executive of the Year" every year? So why would they wait until 2022 to name an EOY for 2020?

Maybe his best move was to hire Stefanski.....or..did we hire Stefanski first?
-
Stefanski was hired first.
Paul DePodesta would seem to be the man behind the curtain.

Thanks....that is what I thought.
So...who is the guy that the OP is promoting for Executive of the year: Depo or Berry?

The linked article is all about Berry. Steve seems to be saying DePo deserves consideration. I think so too.
I’m not really sure who that award goes to historically, but l’m guessing it’s usually a GM.

Good guess... usually, but not exclusively, e.g., Carmen Policy won in his SF days when he was their President and CEO.
One thing I learned is that there are two sources of EOTY awards, The Sporting News and The Pro Football Writers Association.
Here's a list of winners...

You know, l see no one ever won it while with the Browns. You mentioned Policy, and l see Paul Brown on there in his Bengals days.
With the turnaround we are having, and maybe if we win a playoff game or few, we got a good chance this year.

What? No George Kokinis or Ray Farmer?
