Monday Aug 24 PRACTICE UPDATES!!!

RestinPeace, have you ever said anything positive about DA? Just curious because I don't recall you ever saying anything good about him without it being tongue n cheek.
If we ran a different offense, DA wouldn't be a bad stopgap(sorta like Brady!!!) but BQ is simply a better fit for this system and what the Browns are "attempting" to do.
The inability of people to analyze the QB situation accurately is driving me nuts.

Ok I have to ask:
What type of offence are we trying too run that DA can't fit into?
Unless we are running the spread offence I think either will do the job just fine.
I want W's and want this qb thing put to rest once and for all, just give me the best guy we have.... thats all.
If we need to look further next year so be it but it's supposed to be one of the best draft classes , as far as QB's go,in a long time.

One last update from Rapid Reports:

Browns QB Brady Quinn has struggled in practice today. His poorly thrown ball was batted away by CB Rod Hood, who is hoping to unseat incumbent starter Brandon McDonald, but could wind up as a nickel back. -

A lot of 3 step drops with quick hit slants, come backs, outs, swing, and screen passes. Really, think NE pre-Moss era offense.
DA is great at the 5 and 7 step drop plays where he can go deep. But not so much on the above. If this was the 70's or early 80's, DA would be the wet dream QB for his ability on those deep drops.

I will agree RR claims first ball INT followed by 3 completions in a row. Then a batted ball = struggling? I'm not sure they've made their case.
Seems like this is more micro analysis stuff.
This just in...
"DA threw a ball at the thighs of his intended receiver in the 2-minute drill"

LOL, if it were Quinn that had that type of performance, all that you detractors would discuss would be his INT, the fact that he stunk it up in the 2-minute and the fact that the Browns were playing the Lions.
Let's be fair, the competition is about even right now from the looks of it. Brady hasn't done much to impress me; Derek Anderson had a very nice start against Detroit, but stunk otherwise.
I think it says more about Brady Quinn than Derek Anderson if Anderson starts. We know what we are getting with Anderson, but how bad does Quinn have to be not to beat out this guy?
Anyone outside of Corvallis with more than a 30 IQ knows the book on Anderson and unless he has somehow turned the corner by having two pretty good series against a very bad Lions team, the Browns will be shopping for a "franchise" QB once again next offseason.

Brady is what he is, a solid, unspectaculer QB. Nothing more, nothing less. As I have said via my cousin, he handles the pocket well and runs the offense well. He has done that today, he has done that since camp opened. Brady ain't Manning, but he ain't Frye either.
These guys making the twitters are trying to hard.

Just for sake of argument why can't DA run that style?
And from what I’ve read Daboll runs the same exact style Offence as N.E. does now.

Don't worry, RestInPeace isn't a "BQ Fag", he just hates on the whole Browns team.

In theory DA should be able to run that style. But DA seems to struggle when he is asked to make pre-snap reads (which you have to do on short drops) and his short passing game leaves a lot to be desired. If DA demonstrated that he can make pre-snap reads and can consistently throw a catchable ball on short throws (5~10 yard range say), then he could do it. But based on what I have seen of DA those two items are still glaring holes in his game.
It won't be the same NE offense today (don't think as many deep balls, but CLE doesn't have Moss and if NE didn't have him, I don't think they'd go deep as much as they do now), but bits of it, along with traditional WCO, and a few other piece parts. From what I have seen and read, Daboll/Mangini want more of a ball control offense, which is built on running the ball and quick hit passes.
