    We are fortunate that Stef runs a lot of heavy TE sets....such that we have a bunch of TE's on the roster.  Imagine if we ran the 'run and shoot'

    I've been wanting to see what Derrick Willies can do....on the field....with no practice reps with the starters.  I can hear Baker in the huddle, "....and Willies, you go long...and you, what's you name...go short."

    You must be young......the Wishbone didn't really come in until the 70s with Barry Switzer at Oklahoma.   At least he was the one who utilized, popularized it.  And Baker is from OK...maybe he got some training in it. 

    On the other hand, maybe what you would want is the "Robust backfield"  used by  Woody Hayes.    Jim Otis, John Brockington,  Larry Zelina.  

    Or in 1963  Woody had  Matt Snell,  Tom Barrington....and  Paul Warfield in his backfield.  Yea, he had Warfield playing RB!

    And Woody's Robust T is really just the  T formation that George Halas ran in the 30s and 40s....with Nagurski:

  • Well, Marvin Hall had a 100 yard game against Indy earlier this year. Guess he ran a 4.2 40 in his combine. 

    Averaging over 20 yards a catch. 

    At least one of the WR’s will have had some NFL downs this year.

    we ain't going to be ok....jets have been playing their best ball the last couple weeks.....we are fucked......unreal....don't forget that not only are all those wr's out...our ol si banged up which means the jets will play the run and poor ole baker will have no one to throw to....and the jets always play us tough anyway....just plain ole bad luck as usual...

  • The hell with what breaks other teams got....What we have is what we have. Now we have a challenge & an opportunity for innovation/success.

    Who knows, but what previously overlooked "superstar" or "plan of attack" may show up today? This is gonna be interesting!

    Certainly not your normal game, but I think we have the right folks in charge. Time to overcome adversity.

    Well, if we ran the run and shoot, we would have less tight ends and more receivers somewhere on the roster, even if a few more on the practice squad.

    If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

  • Darnold has more INTs than TDs and we're going to need our defense or special teams to pick up some slack today. Maybe we can get a fumble-scoop TD, a pick 6, or even a blocked FG score or something crazy. SOMEONE will have to pick up the slack today because we are GOING to struggle today, especially on 3rd down. I just can't see us consistently moving the ball down the field, I just don't. I can't think of any team that can literally lose all of their WRs the day before the actual effing game and be OK on offense. 

    We can try to spread out our TEs (like we normally do), and we can also continue to flare Hunt out, but we are going to be extremely limited as to what we do offensively. The Jets are extremely good at shutting down the run, and we don't have Teller OR Hubbard. Yes, Quinnen Williams is out (thank God), but we're not going to be able to run the ball like we want to...I can almost promise you. Why? Because the Jets are going to put 38 defenders in the effing box, that's why. 

    If we try to run on 1st and 2nd down and we get stuck with a 3rd and long, that drive is probably toast. The Jets held the Rams to just 2-11 on 3rd down last week, and they had their WRs. We don't have a single WR playing today who caught a pass from Baker this year. I'm honestly not sure what we're going to do, and the biggest problem is that we're going to HAVE to score because our defense is totally effed with the loss of our starting linebacker Goodson, AND his backup Phillips. 

    I wish I had better news. This sounds like a bad dream, that on the eve of playing the worst team in the league and locking up a playoff berth for the first time in almost 20 years we lose so many players and the practice squad guys don't even have time to practice with the offense. Zero reps. Zippo.
