Bubble Up
-
No, I am not talking about the old (still) off brand of lemon-lime soft drink......I am talking about something I brought up in another thread.
If this league does not want their Premier product, the NFL playoffs, marred the way a lot of the regular season has been with all the talent missing many games because of Covid, I believe it may be necessary for them to do what the NBA and the NHL did.....and that is to put their playoffs into a "Bubble".
What kind of an image would it present if the likes of Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson or Tom Brady or Mahomes or Derrick Henry....or Aaron Donald or etc. etc. had to miss playoff games because of being required to quarantine....either because they got the Covid or had to sit out due to "proximity" to someone who had it.
What if a playoff team had to have its entire WR corps miss a playoff game like what happened today. A disastrous public relations situation, that is what.
My proposal:
Put all First and Second round games for each Conference in a single Stadium per conference.
Week 1
E.g: Saturday: AFC to play in say Dallas. 1:00 game pit seed 4 vs. seed 5. 8:00 PM game Seed 2 vs. Seed 7.
NFC to play in say Houston: 4:30 game #3 Seed vs. #6 seed
Sunday: AFC 4:30 game #3 see vs. #6 seed
NFC: 1:00 game #4 seed vs. #5 seed. 8:00 game #3 seed vs. #6 seed
Week 2
Saturday 4:00 AFC middle seeds play in Houston 8:00 NFC middle seeds play in Dallas
Sunday 4:00 NFC #1 seed plays lowest remaining seed in Dallas 8:00 AFC #1 seed plays lowest remaining seed in Houston
I just chose Houston and Dallas because they are dome teams in the middle of the country. You could do things in like Atlanta/Indy/New Orleans/Phoenix...or wherever
Week 3.
Sunday. AFC highest seed hosts AFC title game. NFC highest seed hosts NFC title game. As usual.
Week 4
Super Bowl....to be held in Tampa this year.
So I say:

Sunday Seed 3 vs. Seed 6

7-Up knock-off that used to be made in Sandusky...
Aunt Clara and Uncle Otto always had it around.

Rumor has it that this concoction dated back to 1606. ?
