Heard a blip from Cancun Cruz. We're not coming for your six shooter Ted. As I mentioned- nothing got done since Sandy Hook. So if the Republicans are OK with the status quo we're going to continue having the occasional carnage. Great- just hope you're not in the line of fire the next time.  Believe me, I can relate to the Boulder situation- as I saw it happen here in Dayton three miles from my house. Stuff like that quickly gets lost on the short attention spans.

There's a reason we have more homicides and mass shootings than any other civilized country in the world- per capita, we also have the most guns. Short of doing a top secret security check on someone who wants to buy a gun, it wouldn't work. Boulder shooter is Exhibit A.  Hey- you need a license to drive a car, but having to have a license to own a gun?  Damn- that's restricting my freedom!!!  Gee, that's what is largely the case in Canada, and that country hasn't gone to hell because of it.  And an "assault" weapon isn't just some cute made up term. Would paramilitary weapon suit you better?  The army doesn't go into battle with bolt action 30\30s, or shotguns Steve.

A lot of verbage but missing the point. It's not called the bill of needs. Anyway yes they will be coming for your 6 shooters as soon as they get semi automatics outlawed. And don't play dumb that's the end game.  Then a revolver with 6 bullets will be the next target one shot breech loaded pistols and then bye bye.

Yeah- Republi-can'ts are pro life, except when it comes to guns.

You might want to make a note of this murder is against the law at adult think any republicans voted against it. Vehicular homicide is against the law and yet automobiles are prevalent in society. Depends on your idea of abortion murder or just an easy way out of irresponsible sex. Doesn't matter to me. But it is legal anytime any place any reason.

PS- regarding the 2nd Amendment, sure we have restrictions. For good reason. If certain items like 30 caliber machine guns, grenade launchers, and other assorted military items were available to the general public- there's always going to be enough crazies out there who would actually use them. I pointed it out way back. Golly gee, I can't just go out and by a ton of ammonium nitrate (it's a great fertilizer BTW) anymore. Because Tim McVeigh used it to blow up a building.

And you democrats have always been anti personal responsibility. You love to blame everybody else for the shitty actions of people vote for them.  Just remember it's not a right at all if they can tell you what you are allowed to do or not. You have a right to bear arms as long as a single shot 18 mmeter bolt action pistol. You have freedom of speech until you offend somebody that votes for the democrats. It's just a symptom of an ageing and decaying society. You and I probably won't be around to see it collapse. Only idiots thank history began 50 years ago.

Shoes in the airport because of one crazy. Tamper proof packages because- as my Doc pal pointed out- someone slipped some cyanide in an Excedrin bottle. Too bad Steve that we have to spend billions in added costs and lost time every year because of a handful of evil crazies.

Anyway David Bowie sang we want you Big Brother.  Not quite sure whether you love the welfare state or the nanny state more probably just politicians love to wield power whether it does anybody any good or not.  Anyway enough people love the path of least resistance to just put their heads down and let the politicians tell them what to do.

OK, my last2 cents on this Steve. Besides there being an inordinate amount of baseless right wing conspiracy theory on this forum. There's also a ton of paranoia. And at least in regard to guns- you and a bunch of others here are paranoid as hell. (or being damn unrealistic) So much as put forward increased background checks- the screaming starts....

THEY'RE COMING TO TAKE AWAY OUR GUNS!!!!!

Never going to happen- at least in our lifetimes- and I'll tell you why.

    1) Too many folks in Congress like Bag o' Guns Lauren Boebert have your back.

    2) The 10+ million legit hunters will never hear of it.

OTOH, the push to stop the sale of assault er- paramilitary- weapons is nothing new- it's been kicked around for years. I don't doubt it's going to happen soon.  You want one? You're going to need a license. BTW, nothing like shooting up a concert in Las Vegas with a bump stock to get them banned. Those others are next. My sympathies to all you wannabe Rambos out there. As one Democratic Congresswoman accurately said- you don't need an AR-15 to kill Bambi. Plus- those weapons that are already out there- 10s of millions of them- aren't going away. If you think they are- sorry, that's plain nuts. Though I have said it wouldn't surprise me if .223 and 556 NATO ammo get regulated.

Yes, you have a point Steve. 2nd Amendment "well regulated militia" with single shot muskets that took a bit to reload. I doubt the Founding Fathers envisioned or had in mind that modified AR-15 with a 100 shot drum magazine you can empty as fast as you can pull the trigger- like our Dayton shooter used.

Tell me what makes them actually scary besides the name?  Here are some assault weapons you can get Dicks.  But I am sure your buddies in the anti gun lobby could ask a question like what does anyone need a 9 mmeter semiautomatic handgun for?      That's a good point though I am sure you don't understand it. Here's a stat for you

"Between 2007 and 2017, nearly 1,700 people were murdered with a knife or sharp object per year. That’s almost four times the number of people murdered by an assailant with any sort of rifle."

That's 20 years Bud.  And that's any kind of rifle. Not just the ones you are scared of.

In 2019 alone there almost 17000 murders.  More than half of which committed by people who primarily vote Democrat.

Regarding the bold- sure you can kill someone with a .22 pistol. But please don't act dumb Steve. I grew up in a hunting family- and any weapon used for that purpose has a MAX of 6 shells or cartridges.  If you're hunting ducks or geese, it's THREE shells.  NOT a Goddamn 100 round drum magazine. So what are those paramilitary weapons primarily for?  HUH? Hunting? My ass. Said it before- they are designed to kill as many HUMAN BEINGS as quickly and efficiently as possible. That's the difference. There you have it. You have a grocery store in a bad neighborhood, and need a Glock for self protection? Be my guest.

You're still projecting WITH NO BASIS IN FACT that the big bad Democrats want to totally outlaw guns.  As the Buffaloes said- paranoia strikes deep, into your life it will creep.

Up to you. You just wasting my time bickering. If you think there's not a large group of people on the left who would all be members of the Democrat party or support them who would like to see guns completely out of the hands of the American public fine.   I think you're crazy if you do. If you don't think this is just one step toward confiscation again I think you're crazy. But you seem hardwired now to defend everything the democrats stand for so that's that. (Or just oppose everything conservatives republicans christians whoever stand for) suppose 60 years ago there were people in England that liked to go hunting.  Not being a firearm enthusiast's I don't really care that much. And just predicting what is going to happen. Fact have nothing to do with predictions I can only go by what I see.

Try to compare it to the abortion issue which I guess now that you are a Biden cult member you are OK with.  Every once in a while there is legislation written to make it harder and harder to get 1. Requiring psychological counselling raising the age limit making the mother see ultra sod pictures of the foetus etc etc. Are you naive enough to believe that those restrictions are the end game for the people who want to end abortion?  I will save us some trouble and answer for you so you don't have to spin.  Of course not  Those are just baby steps on the way to their final desire. Like background checks psychological counselling waiting periods banning a gun because it looks scary do zero to stop the hunderds of thousands of murders in the inner cities by democrats. Just baby steps.

As long as were talking about what we need or don't need you don't need to hunt. Nobody does. Even though I have a lot of friends who enjoy it I personally think it's kind of a fucked up way to spend your time. I also think there's a disgusting element of cruelty in it.  On the other hand there are a lot of things I don't like that I would not make illegal if it were  in my power.  And one more time the 2nd amendment isn't about deer hunting.
