Start of the Injury Curse !!!

The Browns Board

  • Not a curse, all teams have injuries. Unfortunate that there are ever injuries, but they are expected in football. We will just adapt & adjust where needed. Fortunately, we are blessed with substantially more depth & versatility than in previous years. To look at the bright side, we will have some younger players seeing more playing time & gaining valuable experience. In past years, a single injury appeared to be devastating to the team. I don't think that will be the case this year.

As far as the media goes, is there anything they DON'T exaggerate?

What happens, happens & I'll still be a Brown's Fan.

Well, I certainly don't want an up and comer like Benard going down long term, and Schaefering is a damn good backup player and very versatile. The depth would be hit hard on DL.

I've seen Wright at camp before have muscle issues, I think he'll be fine. I would hate to lose our corner depth without seeing the three headed monster in actual games first.

The only injury of concern would be Eric Wright no? And he made it off the field on his own. Pittsburgh has also had it's fair share of guys sidelined and all but a few have returned to the practice field. The guys that haven't were put on Waivers/Injured. Pittsburgh has had a host of hammy pulls. Pouncey missed the first few days with a injured toe. Mendenhall, Worilds, Dwyer etc were all sideline with hammy tweaks. Injuries certainly happen, especially with the heat.

Marcus Benard was showing a lot of promise so its also a bummer to be missing him...fortunately, for once, we have depth at CB this year...but you're right Eric Wright will be missed until he comes back

Wright's been tweeting since, seems pretty positive and he said this "Cmon now! Yall kno me.. Wrighteous!!" so it doesn't seem to serious. Im sure he's reluctant to say anything regarding it due to all the recent twitter controversy. Joe Haden got in trouble yesterday for tweeting about TJ Ward getting fined for his cell phone going off.

LB D'Qwell Jackson is back on practice field, but doesn't look happy. Talking to teammates and pointing to pec. IR last year with torn pec.

    That doesn't sound encouraging.

I'll tell you what, if I owned a team, I might ban the hiring of a strength coach.

They get these guys all beefed up with muscles as tight as piano strings, no wonder people pull muscles and rip muscles. I understand strength is important, but range of motion is important as well.

The human body is supposed to have some fat on it.

Maybe teams need to hire Yoga coaches and have the splits as one of the measurable's at the combine.

If you can't move your arms and shoulders as far as needed to keep from ripping muscle, something is out of balance.

I have wondered for years why they always want to bulk up. All that strength is useless without flexibility. I am certainly out of shape now, but I was always a big fan of isometrics.

D'Qwell Jackson concerned about pectoral injury

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 10, 2010 8:19 PM ET

Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson showed up to training camp on time, hopeful that his production could lead to the long-term contract he so desired.

Instead, it appears he could spend a great deal of time on the sidelines. Again.

A league source tells Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer that Jackson is "concerned" that he suffered a pectoral injury on Tuesday. Jackson came out to watch practice on Tuesday night, and was reportedly consoled by many of his teammates. The team hasn't confirmed anything yet.

Jackson tore his pectoral muscle last October, which knocked him out for the season. A repeat of the same injury would likely keep him out a minimum of four months and it's hard to imagine the Browns not placing him on injured reserve in that scenario.

No, we would certainly have it a different way, but we have no control over it.

Can we control the miserly ways of the Dolans?

Could we control the insecurities of LeBron James that caused him to want to go be a second fiddle to another alpha male?

Could we control the revolving door that has been the Browns management from Carmen Policy to Butch Davis to Savage to Mangini to now Holmgren?

Recall that on at least 2 occasions in the last 10 years an "Authority" vacuum occurred where our Head Coach had to come in and run the entire team operation. That happened when Policy/Clark left there was no President and no GM and Butch Davis was put in charge of the entire team operations and he began to develop a megalomaniacal attitude. At THAT time Lerner should have done what he did last year. Last year when Kokinis got shown the door, again there was no President and no GM and Mangini was put in charge of the entire team operations. Randy Lerner learned from his phukup with Davis and immediately went out and got a qualified team president and GM. He should have done that with Davis and left him just to coach the team the way Mangini is now left just to coach the team.

    Fair to say?
