CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent offensive lineman John Malecki.

He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Tennessee in April and waived by the Titans on Aug. 10. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Malecki made 24 starts in college at Pittsburgh, where he began his career as a defensive tackle before switching to the offensive line.

Malecki was a first team All-Big East selection as a senior right guard.

The Browns, who will open their exhibition season on Saturday in Green Bay, also waived tight end Joel Gamble.

The 240, has to be a misprint, but anyway its good news to have some more depth. Hope he works out.

    Edit: This was from ESPN

His college website had him listed at 285 as a senior.

Must have been one of those guys we think something of and hoped to sign as a UDFA.

The Titans must have paid him a bit more or the kid jumped at the first team to contact him....which is understandable. If I wasn't drafted I would sign with the first team that called and offered.

I work in Murrysville, PA, at the best pizza shop in town, and frequently deliver pizza to his house. I told some people today that the Brown's picked him up and they didn't say much....i guess wishing he was a Steeler.....just a few little tid-bits to share with the forum.

Could be we are still looking to upgrade the back-up center slot. I am not sure who we have working in that capacity.
