I love the concept of the coaches bringing unheralded guys like benard in and i like what i see in benard but there also comes a time as a project loving coach like mangini and or ryan that you have to conclude that a project has failed and unfortunately for mangini ratliff is his failed project and its time to start a new one..

i've liked benard a lot since the pittsburgh game last year.

i'm glad that he's going to be sticking around for a while.

Remember, just a couple of weeks ago an undrafted free agent by the name of John Randle was inducted into the Hall of Fame, so, miracles do happen sometime and diamonds can be found in the rough.

It has to help when signing free agents. The browns can point to Cribbs and Benard as big time success stories. This should convince an undrafted guy that he will get a fair chance

I was upset last year when he was cut & elated when they resigned Benard. I would say we have a couple pretty fair undrafted players in Benard & Cribbs, wouldn't you agree?

That's what separates the really good teams from the also rans. You can't bust on your high picks (like the Browns have all to frequently done lately) and you need to score with UDFAs and low round picks- like the Saints did with Marquis Colston.

3.5 sacks in 6 games 09. I also remember a couple plays when he almost had interceptions after excellent pass coverage. IMHO he could break into double digit sack territory this year. Break out, monster year as a defensive play maker would make the journey complete. Let's hoope he can dial in on the pissburgh father raper again this season. Make us proud Marcus! and help coach "stay in the building".

"If you're beating blocks, coming around the corners, you're getting double-teamed, getting chipped. You're gonna get blocked. Somebody's gonna get a hand on you. You can talk to the great pass rushers, it's not the first move, it's the second, or third move. And to have a second or third move, you have to be relentless."

these are the qualities that kam lacked and are the reasons why kam was a waste of a 1st rd draft pick. kam hardly ever beat blocks, got mauled on double teams, was knocked off of his path to the qb by getting chipped and didn't have a 2nd or 3rd move. i hope mb can build off of the good things he did last season. maybe he can be the lb that kam couldn't be?

If Benard becomes successful, it will be a story, I hate to say, like James Harrison of the Steelers.

i love that the guy is totally homegrown...cutting his teeth under Ryan since day 1. it will be an interesting sub-plot this season for sure.
