One Man's Trash...

We all know that making a 53 man roster is hard enough and that a lot of guys just got their walking papers. It's always intrigued me though how some teams really excel at this time of year. They've got their 53 but they want to fine tune it or grab some guy as a project that someone else deemed couldn't play.
In looking at the list of cuts at NFL.com however, it occurred to me that the bottom half of this roster is so much better than it was two years ago and we don't need just anybody. If you take a high-profile guy, he has to make you better on Sundays. If you take a JAG then you must've liked him coming out of college and want to see if you can develop him. Once I realized this, it seemed like I was only looking for two kinds of players:
-fast WRs
-fast safeties
Notice the key here is the word "fast". My one complaint at this point is that we're still lacking top-end speed on both sides of the ball. Yes, I believe the WRs will be better this year. We still need somebody that can get deep. Troy Williamson is exactly that guy (except for the part about catching the football). Kelley Washington is a possession guy who isn't exactly going to make us any better. I think I could live with Wright, Brown and Haden at CB and Ward at the one SF. The other SF though has me nervous. Elam and Adams don't inspire confidence.
You could argue we lack speed at LB but we don't know exactly what the starting four will be and honestly, with the combination of LBs we have right now, they should be a reasonably good group.
What are you looking at as you scan the cuts?

Speedy WR to add a credible deep threat and a hard tackling ballhawking FS would be nice...the faster elam can take his rightful place as a backup so ward can play SS instead of FS the better...
I remain optimistic about the team though im starting to believe our front 7 may not produce the desired results we want to see, its hard to tell from the plain vanilla ryan was running but we have way to much age in the rotation this year imho, but rome wasnt built in a day and mangini's "we are sparta" team cant be either, i believe we are barking up the right tree but we tree'd a grizzly bear with our old coon dogs instead of a racoon in the form of our schedule...And we may need to add a couple of young aggressive rottweilers at DE and LB to deal with it,especially if all dabs is packin is a .410 shotgun...hehehe

Gips, I would agree that I'm concerned about the front seven but at the same time, last year's front produced 40 sacks which was tied with the Redskins for eighth in the NFL. I consider this group to have more talent overall than that one.

From NFL.com, the Eagles cuts:
Notable cuts: S Quintin Demps, G Max Jean-Gilles, S Macho Harris, TE Cornelius Ingram, WR Kelley Washington.
Others: WR Dobson Collins, DE Pannell Egboh, WR Chad Hall, TE Nate Lawrie, RB Martell Mallett, OT Jeraill McCuller, DE Eric Moncur, WR Jordan Norwood, DT Jeff Owens, CB David Pender, CB Geoff Pope, OL Dallas Reynolds, DT Boo Robinson, S Anthony Scirrotto, C A.Q. Shipley, OL Fenuki Tupou.
Demps was supposed to step in after Dawkins went to Denver and he obviously didn't live up to expectations given the draft of Nate Allen. Kelley Washington is one of those guys that always seems to make an important catch but disappear afterwards. He's seemingly dispensible to a lot of teams. Chad Hall is SUPER fast but he's only 5'7". He had some tremendous highlights as a wingback at Air Force.
