WOOF WOOF: Week Four

Beanpot's League

Mr. T must have it going on in the cellar because teams are crowding in. Five teams with records of 1-3-0 have rushed to the basement, apparently for pastries. "After a hard day of fantasy football, you can have a jelly donut," smirked Mr. T after winning his own game 108-58 over Ballantyne's Buckeyes. The GM of T's Jelly Donuts propped his feet on the Toyota award and lounged in a chair polishing his Viagra trophy while other cellar dwellers noshed. The Buckeyes, burdened with a less than stellar performance from Eli Manning (-1) are no doubt happier to see the end of Ben Roethlisthingies suspension than the rest of us.
Watchout for Zombo fingering the Krispy Kremes after losing game number three in as many weeks. The WildDawgs fell to The Usual Suspects, 100-87. The Suspects' performance starred Terrel Owens (30) and LeSean McCoy (21) who made up for an injured Michael Vick (1). Vick has already been replaced in the Suspects' lineup by Atlanta QB Matt Ryan. Despite the loss, Zombo was happy with the 11 points earned by Cleveland's defense by virtue of 4 sacks, two fumble recoveries and a blocked kick. Zombo downed a couple of extra ladyfingers in celebration of the defensive success.
The sweet bakery aroma wafting upward attracted Insert Clever Name who lost to Dot the I, 70-87. SanDiego's Defense (28) and Joseph Addai (20) scored for Dot the I, boosting them to a 3-1-0 record.
This is the part of the season when bye weeks and injuries start to take their toll. Beanpot felt the pain of having his primary wideouts on a bye. The replacements Mike Sims-Walker (0) and Jacoby Jones (1) put the hurt on Beans and there aren't enough donuts on the planet to ease that kind of pain. Huskymania's almost all Green Bay team became the truly all Packer squad this week when Saints kicker Garett Hartley failed to score a point. Huskymania 73; Beanpot 63. Huskymania rejected donuts and opted for Wisconsin cheddar.
Calfox was in the lead by a few going into Monday Night Football. Navdawg had Randy Moss and Brandon Marshall to go. Calfox was both jubilant and distraught, "I win over Navdawg!!! Until Monday night, then I lose! Crap!" Navdawg was philosophical in response, "I am not counting my chickens yet. It would not be the first time Moss or Marshall seem not to be involved in a game." Once the results were posted, Calfox lost it, "WE TIED? ROF,LMAO ! Moss didn't get you one point? Wow." Calfox AND Navdawg, 84.
Texas Chainsaw Massaquoi: Antonio Gates (28) and Reggie Wayne (26). Greenville Mayhem: Eddie Royal (21) and Kyle Orton (16). Massaquoi: Santana Moss (0) and Jay Cutler (-4). Mayhem: Matt Forte (3) and Leon Washington (3). Final Score: Mayhem 76; Massaquoi 71. On Texas Chainsaw Massaquoi's bench: Chad Henne (12) and Derrick Mason (11). Mayhem: "Priceless."
After 3 interceptions thrown by Henne, Miami fans may be singing along:

Oreo's League

Teams are flocking to the penthouse here; six teams have a record of 3-1-0.
Kentucky Barn Burner finished off the weekend by doing his Dirty Harry impression, "You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Did you feel you were going to be lucky?"' The DD's didn't feel lucky at all after being scorched 73-40. Looking for a QB? There's an embarrassment of riches in the Barn Burner camp: Kyle Orton (16), Matt Hasslebeck (-1), and Mark Sanchez (15) might be available, or you can try and snag Jay Cutler (-4) who has been benched.
Lambdo's Air Show flew all over the Bronx Browns 85-44, and secured the Toyota award for Oreo's League. It was a sad day for The Bronx who left Ryan Longwell (bye) active for the weekend. 14 free agent kickers were available, including Jason Hanson (17). Lambdo did a happy dance because the Bronx Browns opted to ignore the "Players" button to replace his inactive player, making victory an easy deal.
Speaking of the "Players" button ... Hammertime has two QBs on his roster and both had a bye week in week four (and the main reason for a backup QB is ????). Available free agents were: David Garrard (23), Ryan Fitzpatrick (18), Shaun Hill (17) and several others. Even Seneca Wallace (7) would have won the week for hammertime. Oreo's Team 68; hammertime 66. Oreo is still cackling and cats don't do much of that. You should see it.

Unfortunate matchup of the week: Arian Foster (26) and New York's defense (23) helped Choo Choo's chug to victory over Ben There Raped That, 98-96. Ben There would have won every other game on the slate with that 96 points. Choo Choo's also grabbed the Viagra trophy keeping it away from Ben, saving him from himself.
Watch out for dirty hands, and I don't mean "buy soap." The hands have won three in a row and elbowed their way into a corner near the top of the standings. It's only total points that are holding them back in sixth place. This was the first loss for opponent Beanpot who experienced a brutal bye week with three key players unable to play. dirty hands 91, Beanpot 76.
Kamac 19 clawed his way out of the basement, pounding The Hammer 85-79. Kamac should be thanking his lucky stars for Randy Moss (0) who was expected to score a dozen points for The Hammer.

The Great Zomboni

In League IV the Big Bad Dawgs took over sole possession of first place, but not until after a wild sister-kisser with Zombo's Mild Dawgs. I went to bed Sunday night knowing I had lost. I was four points behind and didn't have a plyer in the MNF affair, while BBD had Cutler. I didn't bother checking the final score until yesterday ... when much to my amazement I had pulled off the tie with the unbeaten BBD 79-79 when Jay Cutler pulled off a minus 4 performance! (Could it be too much to ask for a minus five?). But here's why I am an awful Fantasy Football player: I refused to play my regular QB, Carson Palmer, because he was playing the Browns. I can't watch the Browns knowing that the opposing QB is my starter. So I picked up Matt Hasslebeck for a week ... looked like a good matchup versus the Rams. Well, Palmer puts up a healthy 15 and Hasslebeck blows his way to a minus 1 and I miss an opportunity to knock off the first place team ... that folks is why I suck at Fantasy Football.
Polk High took down the previously unbeaten Mr. Freeze's Snowmen 109 - 90 to move into a tie for second place. Polk rode Terrell Owens' 30 point effort against the Browns to victory and the Viagra High Scorer of the Week Award ... I slept fine Sunday night ... I wonder if Polk did.
Team Inglewood Jack rebounded from their first loss nicely to down the hapless Bermeck KY Hicks 75-40 , joining the three-team tie for second place. Looking at Bermie's lineup ... I have no idea how I lost to him.
Jumping Jack Flash won its second straight game after an 0-2 start by pounding Calfox's Kosar Dawgs 96-57, led their top receiver, Calvin Johnson.
The TexasChainsawMassaquois and the Flea Flickers are both at 2-2 also after the TCM tripped up the FF 92-74. the Massaquoi backfield of LaDanian Tomlinson and Arian Foster combined for comined for 50 points and they were able to coast after that.
Finally The Werewolves of Linden found themselves de-clawed again, falling to 0-4, alone in the cellar after the 2-2 Packermania (Let's just rename them and make it official) rode, well, the Packers, to a 22 point victory.
Things are heating up ... see you all next week!

Great. I tie, and Zombo's on the fritz with his report on my freakin one more loss.
But I love reading these updates on our ff.

What can you do when your starting QB (Vick) gets shellacked!

I always enjoyed reading your fantasy football posts Kathy. That poll was pretty odd though. I guess you all have QBs on your mind about right now.

The poll was mostly a lead in to this:
"Speaking of the "Players" button ... It had nothing to do with the fact that both of the Browns most functional QBs are injured the week before the Browns v. Steelers game. Nope. Not one single thing. Not thinking about QBs at all.
