Survey Monday Mardi Gras Week
-
Here are this weeks survey questions. Please give your opinions:
1. So, a week's extesion of the CBA is agreed to. Do you think that the two sides will reach an agreement before there is a lockout?
2. Several of the Miami Heat were seen to be crying in the locker room after the last second loss to the Bulls.
Who in your opinion has been the biggest crybaby in the history of sports?
3. Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament is this week: Will you participate in a bracket pool this year? If so, how will it work?
4. Who are your picks to make the Final Four (whether you do a bracket or not).
5. Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras. Any party plans? Also, do you give up something for Lent, and if so, what are you giving up?

My own views:
1. So, a week's extesion of the CBA is agreed to. Do you think that the two sides will reach an agreement before there is a lockout?
I doubt it. It is possible that this "union busting" fad amongst certain types (read: wealthy Republicans) may have infected the NFL owners. Some of them may indeed want to enforce a confrontation...and they think they have a billion reasons to do so. But, hopefully, I am wrong. (this is not like governments who may be drowning in red ink. All the ink associated with the NFL is black.)
2. Several of the Miami Heat were seen to be crying in the locker room after the last second loss to the Bulls.
Who in your opinion has been the biggest crybaby in the history of sports?
I gave this some thought, and I came up with: Barry Bonds.
He whined and cried so much about the fact that the likes of MacGwire and Canseco were juicing that he felt that his ego did not allow him to go and display his natural talents.
The fact is, without the juice, he would have probably been in the 500 HR club, but not beyond that.
3. Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament is this week: Will you participate in a bracket pool this year? If so, how will it work?
I have not done so in quite a few years. One of our local judges (before he was a judge) at one time ran his own pool that I participated in a few times. I think since he got elected to the bench he gave up doing it. But I might participate if I had the opportunity.
4. Who are your picks to make the Final Four (whether you do a bracket or not).
How about this group: Ohio State, Pitt, Notre Dame, and a longshot, (a school below a 4 seed) lets say, Texas A&M?
5. Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras. Any party plans? Also, do you give up something for Lent, and if so, what are you giving up?
No specific plans, though I am up for suggestions. On the "giving up something for Lent", I gave that up when I became an adult.

1. So, a week's extesion of the CBA is agreed to. Do you think that the two sides will reach an agreement before there is a lockout?
Probably not. But I do think that a deal will get done in late Spring/early Summer. There's just too much money to be made not to play.
2. Several of the Miami Heat were seen to be crying in the locker room after the last second loss to the Bulls.
Who in your opinion has been the biggest crybaby in the history of sports?
Rasheed Wallace (does he still play?)
3. Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament is this week: Will you participate in a bracket pool this year? If so, how will it work?
Absolutely. I do a couple every year. One serious one and one where I base my pick based on which mascot would win in a fight.
4. Who are your picks to make the Final Four (whether you do a bracket or not).
O$U, Kansas, Duke, and Pitt
5. Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras. Any party plans? Also, do you give up something for Lent, and if so, what are you giving up?
If by "celebrate" you mean begging my wife to flash me some boob then yes. However, I do that everyday anyway.

4. Who are your picks to make the Final Four (whether you do a bracket or not).
Ohio State or bust. My pick is to have a great time St. Paddy's Day @ a March Madness bash a friend of mine throws every year.

Note to Cleveland Sound: It isn't just Catholics that "give up" something for Lent. My wife and kids are Lutheran and they do it as well (or, it is suggested they do it)
