No. Say what you want about ownership but the Lerners have never been afraid to spend money. Holmgren wasn't cheap and you keep Mangini if money is an overriding factor rather than pay him to sit on his ass.

Espn not impressed with our FA efforts so far

    Cleveland Browns

Key additions: John Greco, Brandon Jackson, Usama Young

Key losses: Eric Wright, Abram Elam

Analysis: I commend the trade for Greco. He is a good guard who rarely gets recognized, and he should do well as the starting right guard. But adding Greco isn't going to instantly make Cleveland into a winner. I like the reliability in the passing game that Jackson provides both as a receiver and in protection. But where is the flash? Where are the difference-makers? Where is the pass rush going to come from? This is a team that seems to value quantity over high quality with personnel decisions, but overall, the Browns are lacking star power and difference-makers. This free-agency period didn't help that situation. It amazes me that they haven't done more.

    Grade: D

Yeah its a joke that we didn't sign a wr. Some people are saying its the deepest free agent wr class in years..

    We need play makers..

Free agency rarely works out the way you'd like especially in regards to grabbing yourself a WR. I think the Browns will spend the money when it makes sense to do so. Honestly, the lockout probably hurt us a lot more than we realize as it didn't give our new coach the chance to gage where some of the younger players are at.

If Carlton Mitchell or Greg Little step up and Robiskie shows more signs of life like he did near the end of last year, we could be more than fine at WR.

This Browns staff knows football, and they know the type of player they are looking for.

Just because some goof is a FA, doesn't mean he's a fit with the TEAM the Browns are building.

Come on now. Do the rest of us have to sing the "Be patient" song for you few panic manics?😠

    No.

Tomorrow teams have to be under the cap, so several players are going to get cut.

I think those are the guys we are going to make a play for.

Let's see here. Who knows more about football? WRRebel and Represent, or Holmgren and Heckert?

    Man that's a tough one.

Now it all comes to light.

I forgot, WRREBEL is still butthurt Cleveland didn't bring Gruden in. Now REBEL has to jerk it to fleeting glances of Chuckie on ESPN.

I bet you DVR every NFL Live he's on just to add it to the spank bank.

Yeah cause it has nothing to do with wanting to add more talent..

Who doesnt spank it to chuckie???

It's not about adding talent to you.

It's about adding players and coaches that you like. That's it.

If it were about talent, you wouldn't have a problem with adding Mays, the kid who has more talent in his pinky finger than most of us do in our entire bodies. But you seem to be against that, for some reason.

Have you watched film on taylor mays?? He lacks football instincs.

There was a reason he slipped in the draft and why the niners now want to trade him, and I'm betting it has nothing to do with his talented pinky

Taylor Mays is terrible im glad we took Ward over him, theres no wonder San Fran is trying to trade him he cant cover for shit.Anyways Browns wont make a move anyways and this wouldnt be the right one, even though thats how painful Browns fans are we are hoping for Mays.

Did you see film of Antonio Gates coming out of college? What about Cornell Green? Ron Howard? Even Stephen Neal?

If you said yes, you'd be lying. None of them played college football, yet went on to lead pretty good NFL careers.

You can't teach size, you can't teach speed, you can't teach athletic talent. You can teach fundamentals. Instincts come with repetition and experience.

Oh, I'm sorry, you'd rather take a washed up receiver or some old runningback just because you used to see his name mentioned a bunch in fantasy football.

hope you know Mays is probably available for a 4th-5th rounder, a guy who was picked in the 2nd round not that long ago and has yet to do anything in the NFL is no where near worth a 1st rounder. I wouldn't mind it for a 4th-5th rounder, could be a good backup at worst. Usama Young is better though.

Precisely. With 90 man rosters now that have to get down to 53 that means 1,184 players will be on the street between now and the beginning of the season. I suspect a few of them will be looked at by the Browns.

I think he meant Willie Mays.

    Adam Schefter

    Why Cleveland was so cheap

"What some people forget is that the Browns have a lot of dead money on the books. They're still paying Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Phil Savage and a lot of people who have come through that organization. They seemed to be more careful this offseason, but it doesn't mean this team can't get better and won't be overly aggressive in the future."

FA's are not what the Browns need now anyway. The Jets will be a victim of their own arrogance IMO and the early signs of Chad Johnson and Fat Albert's antics are starting to show.

then what is your opinion with all the big name signings philly has made? (i know we're not philly and we don't have the core of players they did when they signed these guys blah, blah, blah) do you find them arrogant? just cause coach reid might not shoot his mouth off i still think he's an arrogant prick. like most head coaches are and have to be.

BTW i'd trade four shurmers any day for a rex ryan. his players love him and they play at a high level because of it. when have we seen that from the browns since the 80's?
