Not Signing Free Agents, Cause Of Paying Coaches?

Now it all comes to light.
I forgot, WRREBEL is still butthurt Cleveland didn't bring Gruden in. Now REBEL has to jerk it to fleeting glances of Chuckie on ESPN.
I bet you DVR every NFL Live he's on just to add it to the spank bank.
Yeah cause it has nothing to do with wanting to add more talent..
Who doesnt spank it to chuckie???

It's not about adding talent to you.
It's about adding players and coaches that you like. That's it.
If it were about talent, you wouldn't have a problem with adding Mays, the kid who has more talent in his pinky finger than most of us do in our entire bodies. But you seem to be against that, for some reason.
-
Taylor Mays is terrible im glad we took Ward over him, theres no wonder San Fran is trying to trade him he cant cover for shit.Anyways Browns wont make a move anyways and this wouldnt be the right one, even though thats how painful Browns fans are we are hoping for Mays.
-
Have you watched film on taylor mays?? He lacks football instincs.
There was a reason he slipped in the draft and why the niners now want to trade him, and I'm betting it has nothing to do with his talented pinky

Did you see film of Antonio Gates coming out of college? What about Cornell Green? Ron Howard? Even Stephen Neal?
If you said yes, you'd be lying. None of them played college football, yet went on to lead pretty good NFL careers.
You can't teach size, you can't teach speed, you can't teach athletic talent. You can teach fundamentals. Instincts come with repetition and experience.
Oh, I'm sorry, you'd rather take a washed up receiver or some old runningback just because you used to see his name mentioned a bunch in fantasy football.
-
hope you know Mays is probably available for a 4th-5th rounder, a guy who was picked in the 2nd round not that long ago and has yet to do anything in the NFL is no where near worth a 1st rounder. I wouldn't mind it for a 4th-5th rounder, could be a good backup at worst. Usama Young is better though.

No.
Tomorrow teams have to be under the cap, so several players are going to get cut.
I think those are the guys we are going to make a play for.

Precisely. With 90 man rosters now that have to get down to 53 that means 1,184 players will be on the street between now and the beginning of the season. I suspect a few of them will be looked at by the Browns.

Adam Schefter
Why Cleveland was so cheap
"What some people forget is that the Browns have a lot of dead money on the books. They're still paying Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Phil Savage and a lot of people who have come through that organization. They seemed to be more careful this offseason, but it doesn't mean this team can't get better and won't be overly aggressive in the future."

FA's are not what the Browns need now anyway. The Jets will be a victim of their own arrogance IMO and the early signs of Chad Johnson and Fat Albert's antics are starting to show.

then what is your opinion with all the big name signings philly has made? (i know we're not philly and we don't have the core of players they did when they signed these guys blah, blah, blah) do you find them arrogant? just cause coach reid might not shoot his mouth off i still think he's an arrogant prick. like most head coaches are and have to be.
BTW i'd trade four shurmers any day for a rex ryan. his players love him and they play at a high level because of it. when have we seen that from the browns since the 80's?

Shurmur hasn't been the coach of the Browns since the 80's. Who's to say the players won't get up for him.
Once again, the season hasn't even started yet.

dude, i know. i'm not complaining. i was commenting on another person's post. didn't i see a negative comment from you on the '1st depth chart' thread about:
If Pontbriand ever gets injured, we're going to have a real Clutts-terxxxx on our hands.
Ah thank you.
well that's not very positive.

You answered your own question but I see your looking to argue. Yah, the Browns don't have the core Philly has and Reid is not the load mouthed foot lover that Ryan is. So what is your point? You are sure Shurmur is gonna fail even before the 1st preseason game. I Think most players will say they love their coach Stockholm syndrome maybe.

alright let's not get off on the wrong foot. being snarky is my schtick. i usually just try to mix things up with a little humour and sarcasm. i leave the stats and analystic talk to those who know more than me on this forum (which is about 90% of members here). not really wanting to argue with anyone. but sometimes you can feel someone on the other end (opinion wise) of a post or thread and all you need to do is just give him that little push and BLAM!!! all hell breaks loose. now that's funny.
IN ALL SERIOUSNESS: i actually really wanted to know your opinion on how all the signings the eagles made in FA will affect them. will it be a positive and take them deep into the playoffs because of all the talent or will the chemistry not be right and they fall on their faces (which means to me: not make the playoffs)?
-
No problem Mik. I do the same.
I actually think the eagles signing will payoff better than the jets will. The eagles although big signings are a bit more solid IMO. I really think the Pat's FAs will be trouble.
As far as the browns front office goes the only thing they've done that I disagree with is trading down. Can't stand that.

From what I've heard, and mind you, this is just speculation. The Browns want to see what they have here now. Holmgren has his people in place now, so now he, and they, can evaluate what's here.
Plus the new CBA states that next year each team must spend atleast 90% of the salary cap. Not so this year, so the Browns are sacking their money away. So next year is when the Browns will spend the money. When they have a better idae of what they need. For a 4-3 defense and a west coast offense.
-
that makes sense. but then will they have to evaluate the evaluation?
i mean i get it, teams never stop evaluating players and staff etc. but when is it going to be 'the year' where there are no more excuses, you can't pass the buck? believe i'm not starting any campaign on getting rid of anybody. all i want are some serious answers. what's the time limit on H&H if their plan doesn't work, 5 years? do we push for a new owner if this rebuilding of rebuilding of rebuilding is just a load of shit in a hat?

If it were up to you or I, or any fan for that matter, it would be this year. But in reality, it is going to take this year to find out what McCoy is, and then they will go form there. Our bEst chance is that McCoy IS the QB and then ,I feel, H&H will fill in the pieces next off season and THEN we will make our run....HOPEFULLY HOPEFULLY HOPEFULLY
