It's Easy....

The Browns Board

  • You're missing the point- when we get blown out and our asses handed to us it's bc the front office has us setup for failure. They could've spent the money, brought in FA agents worth a crap, addressed the WR issues, and R Line but decided to work with what's there. It's easy to see why we suck and that's bc they didn't spend the $$

  • The Browns have only been blown out once this year by Tenn.

  • It's easy, that's what happens when we're 30 million under the cap!

The FO knows the issues- lack of quality depth, WR speed, Right Line- 3 year plan blah blah blah

Care about winning? Prove it FO!

    your a moron, sooooo

You do not think our Fo nows what they have in cap room??

Lets see lock-out all off season, knows next yr they have to get there payroll up to 97%( I think thats the number)

This yr is a yr to see what we have on offense, so that next yr they can go get guys that fit the system we have...

Than god the FO does not go on the TheBrownsBoard.com

Agaon who wou;d you have gotton in the off season?????

    xxxxing joke..

I once thought that the Browns fans were the best in all of football, this board make us look like we are the stupidest fans in football!!!!

im not missing the point at all....you think its so simple as just "spending the money"....

i already explained this to you but you glossed over the points i made...possibly cause you dont understand them.

so ill ask you again....who were these "free agents worth a damn"? thats just so simple to do right? except when you look and see what a large number of those FAs are doing for their team.

then consider this....if we go up against the cap and spend the money, it compromises our ability to sign our guys next year. is endangering the future of this franchise worth winning now?

thus far youre just using the same BS arguments that casuals fans use....back up your opinion with something substantial or ill just let this thread rot.

  • Its gonna be a slow process to get to where we all wanna be. One step at a time. Unfortunately for us fans its gonna take a few seasons. As frustrated as I am with the management, I do believe they're gonna take the time to do this right. Building a team doesn't happen overnight. There's gonna be a few long painful seasons ahead of us, but I think it all pays off in the long run.

  • christ....

clements is 31, and after being the highest paid CB ever, was asked to take a pay cut. then got 3mil a year from the bengals.

joesph is 27 and got 5 years at $48mil. our passing D isnt the most glaring weakness on the team....CBs get beat, but this signing would have damn near put us at the cap.

ray edwards, 26, got 5 years at 30mil and has produced about the same a jayme mitchell....thats not wasting money?

the great aaron curry has 2 tackles against us....and failed miserably in seattle. cant cover and has slow reactions. why exactly is he worth a pick? cause he was good in college? please... you wanna bang gocong but he has been nothing short of adequate. you trying to say curry is better...and cheaper for that matter?

anyone else you wanna compare? cause those you've listed thus far are either too much money or suck thus far. the grass isn't always greener mikey....especially at the cost youre suggesting. you think we'd win 11 games by blowing our cap on 2 more players?

  • Um even if you only trade a seventh round pick for Curry you still have to pay him. You're just acquiring the rights to his contract. You don't think he's overpaid? The Browns just got rid of a whole shitload of overpaid players. No need to bring on more.

  • i get all that mikey....but the power of hindsight has proved that burning the cap on all those "playmakers" would not have been a worthwhile investment. would you feel any better having made those moves and we still be 3-4?

i say this because many of our problems now are not a direct result of a lack of talent. having expensive guys on this roster is not gonna make shurmur a more effective coach, isn't gonna fix poor game planning, or make the offense less predictable. its not gonna make noodles suddenly a franchise QB, read the field better, or start throwing the ball better.

the problems we face are growing pains of a new system and poor coaching/teaching of that new system. all the talent in the world will not make shurmur a good coach...only time can help there.

  • All good points but begs the question, do the players make the system, or does the system make the players? We could be running the best system in the league but if our Oline keeps getting Colt killed, or our WR's running with mud on their shoes, u can argue it's the players

  • I don't care how we do it. Just win

  • That is true and the best way to stop a blitzing defense is with screens, be nice to see more of those but instead Shurmur will roll his quarterback out to the short side of the field with a primary and if covered run colt run!

I addressed "Noodles" in another thread and why you've seen fall off from him and little to nothing from our WR's. I figured not having an off season would've hurt us. As should all of you. The poor game planning is a direct result of no off season. That's the first step of every season is to evaluate talent in the off season. That's helps with game planning which includes play calling. In order to have an effective play caller on the sidelines he needs to know what personnel he can use in a given set. If you have a bunch of possession receivers throwing down field is gonna be like ice skating up hill. If you have all speed and no possession guys third and long is gonna be rough unless you got some receivers that can make the entire defense miss. I see where a lot of you guys are coming from some think it's a FA thing (has something to do with it). Others think it's coaching and play calling (product of no off season with a complex offense and the D is holding it down seeing how much they're on the field). It's a combination of a lot of things fellas. I said in the beginning of the season it was gonna be vanilla this year unless the whole offense clicked right off the rip. They didn't and we're below .500 again. Do I like it...hell no. But will this change next season...I think that it can and that it should. The best way to go about this is...if anything fellas...root for us because we're the underdogs. If we win be satisfied with the win...we all know we're not dropping any 50 burgers anytime this season so be satisfied with a win ugly or not. If we battle a good team...and don't get stomped...grumble and be pissed but move on to next week. I know this is frustrating but these kids are playing hard and that's something we haven't seen in a long time. I know they played hard for Mangini too but I mean before that. This is a good group on this board and I think good things are going to happen but not with knee jerk reactions.
