I'm going to look at the meteor shower with my lady, so I'll just post what I have so far. Good trivia, Gip.

Interesting sidenote: 1964, the year of the 33-33 Cardinals-Browns tie, was the first year teams were allowed to wear white uniforms at home, a tradition the Browns carried on until 1975 and the Cowboys carry on to this day. That was the last year the Browns, or any other Cleveland team, won a major sports championship. Maybe Holmgren and co. were trying to reverse the bad luck by wearing white at home all season, just like the 1964 Browns.

I swear I saw the Browns beat the 49ers 7-0 in 1974 & they were wearing the Brown jerseys at the Stadium- maybe I'm wrong.

They did. From 1964 to 1975 they wore the Brown jerseys at home only once.

I thought I put that before, but I guess I forgot.

Here is the trivia on the Browns next opponent. See how you do:

Either I am getting too easy with these trivia questions or something fishy is going on. Hopefully people are not looking up these answers. But since nearly all of them have been given I will go ahead and give the answers.

    1. What is the Browns/Cardinals regular season head to head record?

    33-12-3 Browns ahead

    2. The Cards and the Browns have never played in the postseason. In fact, in their 91 year history the Cards have only played in 13 postseason games. They have played one team in 3 of those games. Which team?

The Fucking Eagles (courtesies to The Dude)

    3. Ohio State's Chris "Beanie" Wells has led the Cardinals in rushing for a couple of years. In their history the Cardinals have had one other former Buckeye lead them in rushing in a season (hint: more than 1 season). Who is this other former Buckeye?

Jim Otis who led the Cards in rushing in 1975, 1977 and 1978

    4. What QB that also played for the Browns at some point in his career led the Cardinals in passing in 1991?

    Tom Tupa

    5. Who was the Cardinals somewhat oxymoronically named Head Coach from 1966-1970?

Charley Winner whose career coaching record was 44-44-5. Not a winner, but not a loser either!

    6. Perhaps one of the 5 greatest college football head coaches of all time also coached the Cardinals...less successfully. Who was this great college coach?

Bud Wilkinson. Also not a winner as a pro coach. His record was like 9-20

    7. When they were in St. Louis, what were the Cardinals called in order to distinguish them from the baseball Cardinals?

They were called "The Big Red"

    8. How did the Cardinals get their name?

In 1901 this team was actually called The Racine Normals (Racine being the street in Chicago on which they played their games....not the city in Wisc....which by the way is where my wife is from). Their owner bought some used uniforms from the University of Chicago, whose colors were maroon and white. The uniforms he got were faded from use, and he exclaimed that "those aren't maroon, they are cardinal red", thus the name Cardinals was born and has stuck ever since.

    9. In the Browns last title year of 1964 their first game of that season was a famous game against the Cardinals. What was the score of that game?

    33-33 tie.

    10. For some period the Browns and the Cardinals played in the same division together. What years were those? Give the range of dates.

The Browns and the Cardinals played in the same division together from the day the the Browns joined the NFL in 1950 until they moved over to the "new AFC" in 1970. In reality, their rivalry with the Cardinals was every bit as good as the one they had vs. the Steelers. Recall of course that they were in either Chicago or St. Louis for those years, so they were much closer geographically. Also note that during the mid 60s the Cards were a damn good team...just not as good as the Browns. The Browns would win their "division" but the Cards would come in a close second. But in those days a close second didn't count. There were no wildcards so the Cards did not make the playoffs. Note also, that in 1964, aside from that 33-33 tie, the Cards beat the Browns in the other game that year. I believe they finished only a half game behind the Browns. Also, they had a QB, Charley Johnson who was a Browns killer. He played like a banshee against the Browns.

    11. In the 3rd game of the 1994 season the Cardinals new head coach, Mr. Buddy Ryan, "guaranteed" a victory in their game against the Browns. What was the final score of that game?

Browns won 32-0. And the Ryan family is still putting their feet in their mouth on a regular basis to this day.

    12. In 1998 the Cardinals broke the major league sports record for the longest drought of not winning a single postseason game of any kind. Against whoom did the Cardinals win their first postseason game in 51 years that year?

The beat the Dallas Cowboys....which was good for them, because from the time the Cards moved to Arizona they learned that that area was "Cowboy country". For any number of years up to that point the Cardinals were only the second favorite team in Phoenix...after the Cowboys. That game basically changed all that from what I understand.

    13. The Cardinals played in the first ever regular season NFL game that was held outside the US. Where did they play and who was the opponent?

The played in Mexico City against the 49ers. 49ers won 31-14.

Historical note: On 4/22/2004 the Cardinals player Pat Tillman became the first NFL player to die in combat since 1970 when Buffalo Bills OT Bob Kalsu died in Vietnam.

On the Browns/Cards rivalry in the mid-late 60s, here is how they finished in those years:

    1963 Browns 10-4 Cards 9-5 neither team made playoffs...Giants were 11-3

1964 Browns 10-3-1 Cards 9-3-2 Browns won division

1965 Browns 11-3 Cards 5-9 Browns won division

1966 Browns 9-5 Cards Cards 8-5-1 Neither team won playoffs....Cowboys won division

1967 Browns 9-5 Cards 6-7-1 Browns won new "Century Division"

1968 Browns 10-4 Cards 9-4-1 Browns won Century division

1969 Browns 10-3-1 Cards 4-9-1 Browns won Century division

As you can see the Browns were just a half step ahead of the Cards in several of those years. In 1964, 66, and 68 Browns won by a mere half game over the Cards to make the playoffs. The Cards never did see the playoffs in those years. And the Browns were only 1 game better in 1963.

Also, during those years, here are the head to head scores for each season:

    1963

    20-14 Cards

    24-10 Browns

    neither team makes playoffs

    1964

    33-33 tie

    28-19 Cards

yet Browns win division by a half game over Cards and win NFL title over Colts

    1965

    49-13 Cards

    27-24 Browns

despite getting manhandled in that first game Browns win division, lost to Packers in NFL title game

    1966

    34-28 Cards

    38-10 Browns

    neither team makes playoff

    1967

    20-16 Browns

    20-16 Browns

same close score, Browns win division, if those scores were reversed Cards would have won division(Browns lose to Cowboys in playoffs)

    1968

    27-21 Cards

    27-16 Cards

Cards win both, but Browns win division by a half game over them and appear in NFL(NFC) title game, lose

    1969

    21-21 Tie

27-21 Browns Browns win division and appear in NFL(NFC) title game, lose

Hello, Arizona fan here. I am looking forward to this game as a test for our passing attack. Naturally we expect to win but there is not any animosity toward Cleveland here, that is reserved for the 49ers and the Cowboys who infest our stadiums during their games. We will likely be starting John Skelton in this game, he is a graduate of Fordham U. not an NFL ready program at all. He has a lot of athletic ability and a strong arm but is still pretty raw for reading defenses and getting his feet in proper position to throw so sometimes he has brilliant throws and sometimes he sails his passes. He is 4 - 1 atm mainly on 4th qtr play when he has figured out the D a little better. Larry Fitzgerald is looking forward to this game as Cleveland is the only team that he has not played against (he was out the last time the two teams played) and the challenge of Joe Hayden. Your run defense should not present too much of a challenge.

Your offense will have problems against our D unless somehow we have a bad day, we started the season very slowly losing 6 games because of problems on both O and D. We have a lot of young talent on D and a new coordinator from Pittsburgh, it took some time for them to learn the new system but they have it now and have been very tough in the last 5 games as the 49ers and Cowboys found out. This is how I see it would want to know how Brown's fans see the game.
