Kevin Kolb could be released by the Cardinals in the spring. Such a move would save them $8 million in real dollars. If he is released I expect that the Browns would at least take a good look at him. He has good size and was projected to be an ideal West Coast Offense QB out of college. He has shown play making ability in the NFL. However, injuries and bad breaks have slowed him. He's definitely better than Colt McCoy. Please discuss!

Not sure why you consider him better than Colt. Neither are too impressive.

We are drafting very high in a QB rich market, why chase a guy two teams gave up on?Z

I don't disagree, Z, but there is always that 'connection'from Philly. Maybe Heckert believes he knows more than all other GMs across the league.

I'm not sure the organization has a 'plan'. Twisting in the wind is not a plan. Win or lose, I would be happy to see some conviction in a plan or program.

Of course, that is hard to achieve if you keep blowing draft picks.

Holmgren likes trying to win with other teams castoffs (Favre, Hasselbeck), and Heckert obviously thought Kolb was good enough to warrant getting rid of Mcnabb. And if you look at Kevin Kolb's game log you will see that he has had some very big games, something that Colt McCoy has never done. Yes he is an injury risk, but he's also much cheaper than a top 10 pick, and it would be easy to cut ties with him if he stinks. If he proves himself then the Browns could give him a long term deal. Obviously if the Browns really like RG3 or Barkley they will take one of them. But I think Kolb is an option they would explore should he become available.

Imagine if the Browns used 2 of their 1st three picks on offensive weapons and then brought in Kolb. There's no need to teach him a West Coast Offense, and he has shown his ability to make big plays. In his last 16 starts he's had four 300+ yard games, and several games with a rating of 100+. Colt McCoy on the other hand has only 1 career game in which he threw for more than 300 yards and it took him a franchise record 61 attempts to do so. Most games Colt doesn't even come close to passing for 250 yards. Kolb shows much more potential than McCoy over a nearly equal number of starts.

Kevin Kolb also has Larry Fitzgerald to throw to. I think Heckert would have made a move on Kolb before the season if he was all that high on him

He also put up good numbers in Philadelphia. The eagles got a 2nd round pick for him, which is a rather steep price. However, if he is released I think he would be worth a look.

Right now Kolb is a ham and egger who hasn't proven a thing. The Cardinals have been making a late season run with John Skelton at QB.

If they want to bring him in here where it would cost them absolutely nothing in draft picks or players and at a minimalist salary, OK, let him come in and compete for probably the backup QB spot. But beyond that, no.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I wouldn't waste a pick or players on him in a trade. But I actually believe Kolb is a better player than Skelton as well. The Cardinals will be making a mistake in trying to win next year with Skelton.

Kolb seems to be injured quite often, doubt he'd last more than a game or two with the oline the Browns have. Say what you will about Colt, but the guy can take a (legal) hit. There has been more than a few times ive been surprised he's gotten back up after a hit.

^^^ Agreed. Colt has no Oline, and no talent to throw to. Lets get rid of him and bring in another QB and repeat 🙄
