THERE'S NOTHING TO PLAY FOR BOB! The ONLY thing we have to look forward to is a high draft pick! What's this one win again the stoolers going to satisfy? They're still going to playoffs, but are now picking 9th missing out on real game changers.

I hear that argument, but have to say that my passion for the Browns to win, especially against these division bastards (who have beat our asses for years & years) trumps the draft stuff.

The consistently good teams (like the 2 bastards in our division) just win, and somehow reload, despite normally picking in the late 20s and, UGH, sometimes #32 in the draft.

    Just my 2 cents....Merry Christmas.

Ok, ok I hear, but I don't understand it. It's as if you would trade in the next 5-6 years of a star, prime player we could get in RG3 for a meaningless win...kind of like that meaningless last year's win against the Dolphins costed us AJ Green. It not worth it, it doesn't build for the future, it doesn't breed a winning attitude. This year is proof. Where was the winning attitude that carried over from the Dolphins game last year or the 4 game winning streak to end the 09 season? Exactly. Only players change the face of a team, not some meaningless win in December.

It's as if you guys only think in the now with no care for the outlook over the course of the next 5-7 years.

To me, that kind of thinking shows low intelligence. Im not saying your dumb, but that style of thinking is.

Been one for 30 years, is that long enough? Besides, I am only hoping what's best for this team to get back on track and for the long term, and winning a meaningless game just isn't in their best interest right now.

Yeah, might improve our draft status, then again you never know.

    Two points:

1)These guys are highly paid professionals, and have a lot of pride- they're not going to go out there and not try their best to beat the Steelers- not saying they'll be able to even with 100% effort. Maybe a little payback to Mr. Thug Harrison would be in order too.

2)The Steelers have drafted lower than the Browns in every stinking year like about forever, and still have managed to beat the hell out of the Browns like clockwork, so don't go telling me a couple draft slots are going to make all that much difference. I can give you a litany of Pro Bowlers, and a couple of future Hall of Famers that the Browns have passed on since 1999. It's been bad selections, not bad draft position that has put the Browns in the dumpster.

Logically, yes you're right. It is best to lose out.

But durng the game I will never root for them to lose. And when they do lose ill console myself and remember its best that we lost because we'll get a better draft pick. But ill never root for them to lose. That's just crazy talk.

Does it really matter what the fans root for ? It is not like the team takes a sensun before every game and then decides - Ok lets win this one ! or ... nah, the fans wants us to lose this one !

guess this guy knows for sure that RG3 wont be a bust. 🙄 what kind of "fan" roots for his team to lose?

You are the moron. The Browns have had top 10 picks almost every year since 1999 and we haven't gotten anywhere. Some of those years were top 5 picks as well. It's not where you draft, it's how you draft. It also comes down to coaching. All I can do is remind you how Tom Brady was a 6th round pick. Also, the league is set up based on being able to win your division. If you can't learn to beat the teams in your division, you can't make the playoffs. It's as simple as that.

I've posted this before- Soju must have missed it.

    1st overall- Tim Couch- duh

1st overall Courtney Brown- duh (or John Abraham)

3rd overall Gerrard Warren- duh (or Ladainain Tomlinson or Richard Seymour)

3rd overall Braylon Edwards duh. (or Demarcus Ware or AARON RODGERS)

6th overall Kellen Winslow- duh (or Ben Rothlisberger)

The trade up to take Brady Quinn would have been Chris Johnson or Rashard Mendenhall the following year.

Get the drift? The Browns drafting has SUCKED.

And that's not even taking into account extreme lower round suckage. Think maybe super scout Phil Savage should have taken the 30 mile drive down to Kent State to take a look at Antonio Gates?

I used to think this way, looking at the picks we made in the past and saying " We should have took this guy , not that guy" like 5 years after they made names for themselves. But the truth is that nobody can predict how these guys will pan out. You just have to draft who you think is a good fit for your team and go with it. I know we would benefit from better scouting, but even the best GM's miss on some draft picks.

You are right. The Browns drafting has sucked, but those were under different regimes. Heckert can pick em, so let's give him all the firing power we can with the best prospects! Not the sloppy seconds that are most commonly found in the 10-15 range...

If you're hoping and playing to lose that makes you a pathetic loser period. The day I find out that the browns are playing to lose is the day I never watch them again and I mean that 110%. Losing breeds losing, this is actually something Ghoolie and I agree on for once. We have a pathetic losing culture around here and the notion of losing should make you sick to your stomach. Hoping your team loses is a joke, that basically means you're hoping the players throw in the towel and quit. What do you think is worse, having a good draft pick or having a team full of losers who only see losing and give up?

what did winning 4 straight at the end of the 09 season get us? A winning culture? lol NO! It got us the same 5 win season the year after.

Would you like me to give you the Steelers sloppy seconds they picked in that range, starting with Polamalu? Mendenhall was a 20s range pick, None of their linebackers were drafted in the top 10, (Well, I have to correct that- Farrior was drafted 8th by the Jets, who cut him), Casey Hampton was picked 19th, they picked up Wallace in the third round, and Harrison wasn't even drafted. That's off the top of my head. Rothlisberger was selected 9th.

Give me those kind of sloppy seconds anytime- Polamalu and Hampton might even make the HOF.

I'm not debating that drafting high isn't an advantage, but it's not as huge an advantage as you think it is. The Lions, like the Browns stunk for years until they started drafting players like Calvin Johnson, Suh, and Stafford.

HIllis, Cribbs, Colt and Hard-on-esty need to be released Monday morning.

Well, Cribbs HAS slowed down, I'll grant you- remains to be seen if that's an injury or not. The rule changes have seriously taken away the value of a KR\PR.

Resigning Hillis @ $2 million is a no-brainer. Colt may or may not be replaced.

Heckert will be back in 2012- I guarantee it. I'd give way better odds of Shurmur walking the plank for his non-performance this year. If Walrus says one year of 5-11 isn't acceptable, well one year of 4-12 sure as hell isn't, spin that one Walrus.
