CONFIRMED!

CLEVELAND -- Browns left tackle Joe Thomas joined some exclusive company by being named to the AFC Pro Bowl team for the fifth consecutive year.
The only franchise player to accomplish the feat in his first five seasons was Jim Brown (1958-66), who made it nine years in a row.
Thomas is one of 11 Browns players to earn Pro Bowl honors five or more times. He joins Miami's Richmond Webb (1991-97) as the only NFL offensive linemen named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first five NFL seasons since 1970.
Two other Browns were named alternates to the 2012 Pro Bowl. Linebacker D'Qwell Jackson was second alternate at inside linebacker. Josh Cribbs was second alternate at kick returner and third alternate at special teams.
Canton is calling.

If there was one year when Joe Thomas didn't deserve to go, it was this one. If any players on the team deserved to go it was Jackson, Rubin, and Mack.

Last year fans were saying the same thing. The truth of the matter is, he is a top 2 LT in the NFL as him and Jake Long are basically equals. He also goes up against arguably THE two toughest pass rushing teams in the NFL in the Ravens and Steelers, combine that with the fact that he has also faced Dwight Freeney, Chris Long, Connor Barwin, Chris Clemons.
He shuts them all down for the most part.
I think Mack got snubbed as I think Mangold had a down year and Pouncey is one of the most overrated players in the NFL.

Come on now... judging by the post's on this board from Mid January to September every year, it's understood there is a lack of football knowledge, but even those on this board understand that the Pro Bowl is just a popularity thing... right?

Actually the popularity thing accounts for less than 1/3 of the vote

Did you not see him destroying Suggs on every play last week? On one play he shoved Suggs all the way over to Pashos on the right side of the line. He has made a few more mental errors than usual with some false starts, but he has been as good as usual.

Joe Thomas sure as hell deserves it - he flat out is one of the top few olinemen in the NFL. I can't wait for the Browns
to get a solid right tackle now. And a few other additions - the Browns offense will be able to take off.
-
Ray Lewis, 88 tackles, 2 sacks and one interception
Derrick Johnson, 126 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 interceptions
D'Qwell Jackson, 145 tackles, 4 sacks and one interception Most Solo Tackles in the NFL.
Haloti Ngata, 60 tackles, 5 sacks, 21 Yrds for loss
Vince Wilfork, 49 tackles, 3 sacks, 18 Yrds for loss
Richard Seymour, 27 tackles 6 sacks, 24 Yrds for loss
Ahtyba Rubin, 74 Tackles, 4 sacks, 28 Yrds for loss
So it's pretty fair.

Yes, losing teams get few Pro Bowl nods. That said, Joe Haden probably should have been given a slot. Otherwise though I can't say the Browns suffered any snubs.

Gip, I looked at his stats, while he is among the league leaders in Pass Defended and top 15 in tackles, he has zero pics.
Anyone think Eric Wright was horrible, check out his stats. Not a bad season at all. Better stats than Revis, DeAngelo Hall, Asante Samuel and Nnamdi Asomugha.
Kyle Arrington and Brandon Browner would of been great selections as well.

I always liked Eric Wright. He is MUCH better than Falldown Haden.
Bullshit.

Haden didn't deserve it this year, but he'll see plenty of trips to HNL during his career.
Rubin and Jackson deserved it, but it's too hard to break through on a losing team.
Rubin and Taylor are set for great careers because they have each other to rely on up the niddle. Our other young stars all need a pair, or a bookend, to help them showcase their talents and for the team to improve:
Thomas ... needs a good RT so he's not forever known as a good tackle on a so-so OL.
Little ... best WR we have drafted in 20 years. Needs a threat on the other side so he can become a big time playmaker.
Sheard ... most impressive rookie DE in league, if offenses have to worry about a defensive end on the other side, Sheard will become a weekly force to deal with.
Haden ... our Minnifield needs a Dixon: a physical corner that can take on the other team's size guy while he shuts down their burner.
Ward ... He'll be back full strength next year to terrorize the AFC North but we need a reliable coverage and speed guy back there with him so that we can use Ward more in blitzing and run support ... that's when he'll get pro bowl numbers and recognition.
So we are halfway there ... IF Colt is the answer at QB.
Get to work Heckert.

Sheard ... most impressive rookie DE in league, if offenses have to worry about a defensive end on the other side, Sheard will become a weekly force to deal with. fourth pick
Haden ... our Minnifield needs a Dixon: a physical corner that can take on the other team's size guy while he shuts down their burner. second pick

and what about linebacker(s)?
too many holes to fill to draft another QB.

kellin winslow jr? braylon edwards? dennis northcutt? come on man thats just off the top of my head.....Little had a solid rookie season but he also had a ton of drops and missed some games early on.....not sure hes better than northcutt edwards or winslow just yet
Sheard ... most impressive rookie DE in league, if offenses have to worry about a defensive end on the other side, Sheard will become a weekly force to deal with.
sheard had a good season but jj watt and aldon smith were DROY candidates from the get go..both had tremendous seasons
just my 2cents
the browns have some pieces..i think little can be a solid #2 guy and sheard is a good LDE option but they still need some elite talent at wideout and some offensive linemen to help mack and thomas out
-
I don't hear anyone mentioning Sheard. I know he's a rookie but he had 7.5 sacks and 5 forced fumbles. 5 is good enough for tops in the league and forced fumbles are far more meaningful than sacks because it's a chance at a turnover.

And his 5th consecutive losing team.
Joe Tomas = good LG = Total wasted draft pick = No impact on offense in any of his five years.
Great LT, shit draft pick.
Know what Tom? I just took a look back at the 2007 draft- and I can make a serious case Joe Thomas is BY FAR the best player the Browns could have taken in that slot. In fact IMHO, he's the second best player PERIOD drafted that year- the only one better is Calvin Johnson, who the Lions took one slot ahead of the Browns.
Don't believe me? Go take a look....2007 Nfl Draft..... and tell me who you'd rather have than Joe.

Man, I agree. But it would of been nice to have AP or Patrick Willis.

Until the knee injury, I would have said it's a wash- but now who knows? AP may come back like McGahee, then again, maybe not. Thomas has hopefully another 5-8 years left in him. 3-4 more Pro Bowls puts in HOF contention.
