These are all project guys as well...and Jordan is even worse than Marcic...this project is done, this isn't a Colt project where you see glimmers of hope, all i see in Jordan is Cali trash...ok, he isn't that bad, but he is 5th on our TE roster and really should be 6th even though we don't have that many TE.

Alex Smith is a journey man TE who was just used this year so Cameron could learn like they planned, Smith has the better shot of getting cut. Gronkowski is journey man as well, but one who doesn't have enough talent to actually stick with the team. He has been in the league longer than his brother and if he was going to do anything he would have done it by now. He won't make it past the preseason. This season I see all three TE getting equal playing time between Watson Moore and Cameron.

So you can justify keeping Colt McCoy, an undersized third round pick QB who's been surrounded by talent his entire life and is in the third year of his "project", accumulating only a handful of wins while throwing for 20 TD's and 20 INTS, but you want to scrap a 6'5 250 lb 4th round TE who made it to the Shrine Bowl and impressed scouts enough to be a mid-round pick in the NFL Draft after playing one year of football in college.

How does that begin to make sense?

The whole point of being a project player is to sit and learn behind the veterans. A project player is nearly always a player with all of the physical tools who is either unpolished or from a smaller non-FBS school. If you want to scrap a player, scrap Colt McCoy. He's had his time, and has proven absolutely nothing. The "glimmers of hope" you speak of are just "glimmers of being a mediocre NFL QB at best". He has shown nothing awe-inspiring. He is not our franchise QB, but he never was brought in here to be. It's only people like you that expected him to be. He was never meant to be anything more than a guy who manages the game while we worked our way through the original growing pains.

As for your list, those players have nothing to do with keeping Jordan Cameron at all. I'm not sure where you were going by listing them.

Carlton Mitchell has had his time. This was supposed to be a good year for him, according to those covering the Browns. Unfortunately he broke his finger and required surgery, missing most of the season. It's an unlucky break, but that's the way it goes.

Owen Marecic is still in his first year. He's proven that he's clearly no Lawrence Vickers, but he's also the only FB on the roster. He gets a roster spot based solely on the fact that there's no one else to replace him.

Buster Skrine showed enough to be considered a solid special teamer and nickel corner. He's going nowhere.

Hardesty is going into his third year, and has yet to stay healthy.

Eric Hagg has good size and speed, he has all the tangibles. He'll be on the roster next season.

Greg Little is our best receiver. He will be on the roster, and will do well.

The Jordan Cameron project is nowhere near complete, this was his rookie season. What did you expect from him? 2,000 receiving yards and 10 TD's? Get your head out of your ass.

  • Besides our FA who do you think probably won't be with us next year

Assuming we get one if not 2 WR this offseason...hoping for D. jackson and A. jefferies. MoMass and R. Windsor are probably gone...yes, i think they would probably keep Carlton instead... Mo is going on his 3rd or 4th concussion.

If we don't get Desean I think they will try for Finley (would be a nice reunion for Colt, who's favorite target is a TE) So, i'm looking for us to dump Jordan Cameron.

I also have a bad feeling that Eric won't be back as well. I'm hoping he reports this before the draft though.

So, my 3 kind of surprises would be

    Jordan Cameron

    Mo Mass

    Steinbach

who do you think is gone besides some of our FA next year?

Cameron will be on the team next yr, no doubt. Steinbach could be gone, but that will depend on his health and free agency. MoMass will be on here too, he may be moved down the roster but he will be on the roster.

This might be the dumbest post I've ever seen. I know I've probably said this before but I really mean it this time. Next season Cameron will be, at worst, #2 on the depth chart, guarantee it! If there is a project they are giving up on it's going to be Mitchell.

People that will probably not be back:

    Ben Jacobs CB

    Thaddeus Lewis QB

    Brian Smith LB

"With Fava beans and a nice" Kiante Tripp DT

    Steve Vallos OL

    Eddie William FB

    Brandon Jackson RB

    Richmond McGee P

    Rod Windsor WR

Put it this way: I figure they could end up drafting possibly: A QB, a RB, a WR, A DL, a LB, an OL, and a CB...they will replace the above with the players they draft...at minimum

  • Why would we dump a young athletic TE with loads of potential that we just spent a 4th round draft pick on. When Alex Smith and Ben Watson are getting long in the tooth. Good teams develop and fill holes from within with developed draft picks, I think thats what Heckert's trying to do.

I agree with Steinbach, I think he's gone. MoMass, its his contract year, I'll think he'll be with us. Were already thin there, if he doesn't perform well in 2012 we don't resign him and get a compensatory pick.

They have probably seen enough. There is a time when you need to concentrate on playmakers and stop fooling around with project players.

Oh, sorry. Surrounded by talent until coming to the Browns, I meant.

DOH! And before coming to the Browns all he was was the winningest QB in college football history.
