  • Some of you blow my mind. He's a head case much like Santonio Holmes and on top of it all he's inconsistent. You'd also need a QB with an arm to utilize his speed unless you're going to count on the short dump offs that yield YAC potential. You build through the draft, not free agency. Eventually this will be a concept grasped by the masses. A few here that posts get it, others clearly don't.

I agree that most teams should be built primarily through the draft, but it is a fact of life that free agency is another viable option for building talent as well. Free agency has certainly helped a number of franchises.

And don't forget: this is a "Win now" league. Just watch and see if the Steelers go 7-9 next year....yinz won't be patient to wait 5 years to return to the playoffs, will youze?

So, free agency is one device by which talent is obtained. And when you are team with a dearth of talent at a number of positions, like the Browns are, filling in that needed speed WR with a FA like Jackson could certainly be beneficial. It would allow the Browns to go for the QB, DE, DB, LB, maybe RB, RT that they still need without using a high draft pick.

Of course...it is contingent upon Jackson coming in at a price that suits the Browns suits....and that he not be a morceau de merde. (I used it once today already, I kinda like it.)

You are correct,Young Man!...Ding! Ding! Ding!...I just dont get why people want this knucklehead....Speed isnt everything people.

  • It's easy to say build through the draft when you already have a solid foundation in place. Our receivers have been horrible for four years... four years. We need immediate help.

I can't blame Jackson for holding out, he was overplaying his contract and his career could of ended on one play then he's out of luck. Just because the tube tells you he is a knucklehead doesn't make it so. I'll take Andy Reids word over Mike Mayocks when it comes to him quitting on plays.

Vincent Jackson is 29 and 6'5 , I see two more season out of him before he falls apart.

  • Lol....wow

Andy Reid's words were also saying that Kevin Kolb was a legit NFL starter...

Hey Gip for one I'm not on this board trolling SO good sir let's refrain from being cute with the Pittsburghese I never use. I also said it once BUT I'll say it again the guy is a head case. The Eagles spent a first on him and are willing to take a 3rd for a reason. He comes and he goes, he's got an attitude problem and he's NOT the answer for the Browns. When you're trying to get your team out of the gutter you don't take fliers on the league mental cases. As far as the Steelers are concerned they've always built through the draft and OCCASIONALLY sign role players in free agency. See Ryan Clark who has excelled in our system. Farrior who became a staple and possibly Jerricho Cotchery if he decides to sign with the steelers or better stated if they choose to make him an offer. Good teams "supplement" through the draft. Jackson would come right in and be the number 1 and he's a number 1 with some real problems. End of story.

"Youz" also isn't Pittsburghese but please feel free to add z's to other words. It's amusing.

When I say yinz and youze I am referring to the Steeler fan base as a whole, not you specifically.(but just by being a fan of a different team makes you a troll...that is the definition)

I also said it once BUT I'll say it again the guy is a head case. The Eagles spent a first on him and are willing to take a 3rd for a reason. Well, now, it is you who is making a generalization. Many if not most quality WRs are head cases. That doesn't mean they cannot be a valuable contributor...for a period. I would think that a guy like that would want to be on his best behavior for a year or two before he blows up. So, given that it is certainly possible/probable that he will eventually be like you describe, still, for a third round pick it may be worth it to take him on for a couple of quality seasons before it all falls apart like you expect.

As far as the Steelers are concerned they've always built through the draft and OCCASIONALLY sign role players in free agency. See Ryan Clark who has excelled in our system. Why do you think that Crotchety would be a better pickup than Jackson?

Maybe y'all can give us some lessons on proper Pittsboigeze.

if you could go back and change it, you wouldnt take santonio? Didnt he make a game winning catch in the SUPERBOWL for you? Id take 53 headcases if they won us some rings!

  • Going after a free agent WR doesn't mean you are not building via the draft. I don't think very many people here are saying to give Desean Jackson a boatload of money, it wouldnt hurt to give him a look depending on the price.

  • heckert needs to cut ties with philly. what did we get the last time we dealt with those pricks? that franchise and coach are nothing but lying throat cutters. besides reid looks like he could be holmgren's kid. imagine the beast that finds either one of those fat fucks attractive. yeah i know. the money. that's all it takes i guess.

  • I wouldn't mind taking a look at him but it depends on what we do with the QB position. If we don't draft or pick up a QB that excites Jackson then the price to resign him will be astronomical. Luck, RG3, and Manning are the only QB's that are real enticing options, at least in my view. I can't imagine Jackson being too pumped about Colt or Flynn.

Honestly I think that game and that catch is part of his problem.
