Is this true? Because if it is, this is great news if we are interested in trading up for RG3.

If it is, it's absolutely great news- because should the Colts release Manning- some qb needy team is going to pick him up- and let's hope it's the Redskins. That seriously will devalue what the Browns would have to give up for RGIII. The only other team realistically in the equation- the Dolphins would still have to give up a ton to move up six spots.

So let's wait and see what happens this week when Indy has to make a decision about Manning, and later in the month after the dust settles in FA to see where Flynn winds up.

  • looks legit...manning has that funny looking leg kick out with his right foot. I still don't see them re-signing him.

  • What are the odds that it devalues it so much that we don't have to trade up to get him? I think it would mean the Redskins would have to land Manning if the Colts don't re-sign him, and then RG3 would land in our laps without trading.

If this isn't Manning, they found a damn good impersonator. I say this is a 100% him.

  • Good for him... SO much yet to be written on this story...

Not sure Shanahan wants to go down the vet QB road again though.

I see where Romeo has declared KC's interest.

No matter, a SB win (or two) is all PM is interested in.

Still say if he goes FA, then:

NFC - he goes to SF. The Niners are as close to a "QB-away-from-winning-the-SB" team as there is right now ... and they have the easiest divisional path to the playoffs.

AFC - choice would be TN. A couple of in-your-face wins over Indy would suit him fine. And while the route to the playoffs might be tougher, the path through them to the SB would be arguable easier.

  • It's great to see him back. The NFL is a better place with Peyton Manning playing. I hope he leaves the Colts and the Colts still suck hard for a few years. And Manning wins another Super Bowl with whoever he goes to. (As long as it isn't the Steelers, Ravens, or Bengals.)

Redskins aren't going to sign Manning. Not because of the "Vet QB" thing, but because Manning would be a "win now" move, as opposed to a "win for the next 15 years" move, which is what we (and the Browns probably) are looking to do. Shanahan wants a rookie QB that he can mold. Manning would be good for the next 4 years, but then we would be right back in the spot we're in now, looking for a long-term answer at QB.

If Manning is good enough to play, the best news would be for them to keep him and trade out of the 1 spot, so they could get draft picks to fill in their new 3-4. One of our teams could trade for one, the other for 2. That way one of us gets Luck and the other, RG3.

  • It does look like him, and Duke's coach is David Cutcliff who was Peytons OC/QB coach while a Vol. Manning is still close to Cutcliff and seeks his advice if he feels his mechanics are off.

  • He's there local media has mentioned it a couple of time this week. Peyton is at the UNC V. DUKE game right now.

  • Sources on ESPN have confirmed that it is in fact him.

  • Peyton wants to get back into the game. Even though a lot of people thinks that he needs to retire. But who knows?! We can't know unless he does it himself. Either goes back to playing or retiring.

Dolphin actually are not in the hunt for the #2 pick. From what I have read, they were so pissed at Fisher for choosing the Rams over the Phins that they are not willing to make trades with the Rams. The only team that we need to root for in signing a QB is the Redskins.

Yeah- you're willing to take a chance on a 35 year old quarterback with a bum neck- but not on a highly rated prospect. We gotta save those precious draft picks. Plus there is zero, nada, no chance in hell Manning is going to a rebuilding team like the Browns- and Holmgren, Heckert and Shurmur are as married to the WCO as Manning is to his system.

You want Manning, you may as well do a George Allen and the Redskins "just win now" because if you're lucky, you might get three good years out of Manning. BTW, looking at the clip of Manning throwing if my eyes aren't fooling me, Peyton still can't put any mustard on his deep passes.
