Some say it is now possible that the top 3 picks in this years draft could be QBs, if Tannehill is taken 3rd behind Luck and RGIII.

Question: Twice in the past the first 3 picks of the draft were Quarterbacks.

Name the years and the QBs taken with these first three picks.

(On this day in history, Ponce de Leon "discovers" Florida)

Most recent was our Glorious return to the NFL in 1999...

Where we proudly announced our return to the NFL by taking...

      1. Tim Couch
      2. Philly - Donovan McNabb
      3. Cinci - Akili Smith

At least Timmy was arguably not the worst of the three...

Not sure about the other year...

Tourma is correct, the other one is 1971, Plunkett, Manning and Pastorini.

          Two things:

          Tannehill is not going third.

Would never have guessed that Dante P went that high...

A true character and underrated (and underachieving) QB of the Luv Ya Blue Oilers... threw a pretty pass.

First to wear a "flack jacket" in the NFL.

Married June "The Bosom" Wilkinson... purveyor of bust development creams and devices, and a possible contributor to Dante's underachieving...

That is one of the years and the players involved. Check.

No. Kosar was not in the same draft....he was in the 1985 Supplemental Draft. Kelly and Marino were in 1983, not -86. And they were not among the top 3 taken that year. Elway was #1. Marino was taken 27th. Not sure where Kelly was taken. Perhaps Top 10

You are probably right, but there is speculation.

Was there not an April 1st trivia ... the greatest day of all days?

Did you not think that taking Tim Couch #1 and Akili Smith #3 wasn't a big enough joke?

Seriously, I guess I took that day off.

Paranoia strikes deep. I was afraid of April Fools consequences.

Trivia question answered. 1971 saw Plunkett, Archie Manning and Dan Pastorini taken 1,2,3.

1999 saw Couch, McNabb, and Akili Smith taken 1,2,3.

Only times QBs taken 1,2,3 since draft began in 1936

In "the year of the QB" Kelly was #14... followed by Tony Eason at 15.

Todd Blackledge was top ten (#7).

6 QBs in the first round: Elway, Kelly, Marino, Eason, Blackledge, O'Brien. I wonder if there have ever were 6 QBs taken in the first round any other time. I am sure there have not been three HOF QBs taken in the same round.
