3Rd Teir Wr's In The Draft

The Browns Board

  • What about Devier Posey, he's 6-2, 210lb, and projected to be a sixth rd pick and even he may lack blazing game breaking speed, he seemed to always find a way to get open, atleast at the college level. He's good at making adjustments, and going after the ball and he's not afaid of makeing the tough catches in traffic. If you look at the dropoff in the OSU passing game last year some of which was miller trying to adjust to the college game, but some of it was because posey wasn't there. If you look at who was throwing to him in his career, pryor was a great athlete, but he wasn't the most accurate passer, he seemed to throw the ball up for his receivers to go get, and posey was his number 1 guy. With 13 picks in the draft, and depending on who we've taken, and what we still need, he might be worth a good look in the sixth round.

  • Big fan of TY Hilton and Devon Wylie.

Just like CB, this is a deep WR class:

  • Also, what about Chris Givens and TJ Graham? Heard these guys could go anywhere. Playmaking ability could really help Colt.

Two of the fastest WRs at the combine:

Given's is a beast, and really good 3rd round pick if we have yet to take a WR. I don't know a thing about Graham.

  • I like Marvin McNutt, great size, huge strong hands, alot like Hakeem Nicks.

Streeter is fast and BIG, 6'5", imagine Evan Moore running a 4.4 I'd love to have him. But I think San Diego grabs him earlier than I would like to.

I'm high on Hemingway from Michigan to. Great ball skills, knows how to adjust and go get a ball. Was MVP of the sugar bowl, so he's performed well at the top level of competition. He doesn't have elite straight line speed, but he has by far the fastest 3 cone and shuttle drill times. I think he will be a steal late in the draft.

  • Devon Wylie ran a 4.39, returned punts so you no he's a gritty kid. How'd you like to have him in the slot?

Chris Owusu ran a 4.36 and runs a very similar offense at Stanford that the Browns run. You can see him make plays on slants, 5 yard outs, swing passes. He's a plug and play guy that should be able to make an immediate impact.

Both can be had in the later rounds according to most scouts projections. I think one of these guys will be a Cleveland Brown next year.

    Which would you prefer?

  • I'm biased, but if Junior Hemmingway is hanging around late...

oh, actually I see you have him in your signature. I guess I am not completely biased afterall

He was probably a 2nd or 3rd round pick last season. I'm not sold on Wright or Hill at 22 for a reason- Posey is a guy you can get in the 5th round and you can name 10-15 other WRs that have just as many positives and negatives as Hill and Wright.

I always thought he ran great routes at OSU and he had to make a lot of plays because Pryor and Miller threw the ball to areas and made their WRs become the playmaker. He'll get a better QB at the next level that's for sure.

    CB's deep? This draft???

    Anywho...

In pulling together my Mock I really took a shine to:

    - Marvin Jones (WR-Cal) - 6'2"/200 & 4.46 speed.

Likely an early 3rd round pick.

    - Dwight Jones (WR- NC) - 6'3"/230 & 4.55 speed and a jumper.

    Likely a 4th rounder.

Marvin could be a steal. Dwight is more raw, but is a physical specimen.

Jones Cal is a great pick but Jones NC is terrible. He just got over matched in the senior bowl (for Shrine game can't remember which one he played in).

Also the CB is deep, there is real legit talent that is expected to fall into the 3rd round, but after a certain point it really drops off. It goes from real 2nd round talents being available in the mid 3rd to people reaching for late 5th round talent in the early 4th.
