Lack Of Drafting Wr In The Draft
-
Im not understanding these paranoid jumpy trade decisions or the piss poor instability of the choices this regime has made...
This imho is overall one of the worst drafts this club has ever had, does heckert really believe weeden can improve this shitty WR corp?
So we go with a 28 yo rookie QB instead of getting a weapon like wright or randal?
Im starting to seriously think this club does not want to win, ever...
We still do not have a franchise QB in weeden and we still do not have even one legitimate playmaker at WR and we have a 5'9" RB that is injury prone..
We wont win 3 games this year..

If the Clippers can make the playoffs we definitely can.....eventually.

We need a WR , we a need a OLB, we need a CB, we need safety depth. It is all too much for one draft. We did a hell of a job this year with what options we had. Could we have a traded up for a receiver in the 2nd? Probably, but I get the feeling that they were not too high on anyone that was left on the board.
It is also possible that our receivers are better than we think and colt was the problem with his weakish arm and shortness. There is a reason that the front office tried so hard to replace colt.
Now im going back to drinking. see you all tomorrow!

You may well be right about the Colt & receiver relationship, plus I have felt from the start that the receivers in this draft, as a group, were over rated.
What angered me was Detroit jumping for Ryan Broyles in the 2nd round. I think he will become the best WR out of this draft (yes, even after the injury).
Still more draft tomorrow, but I think the Browns have really improved that offense.

I know Detroit has a history of taking the BPA, but seriously they already have 3 really good recievers.

We cannot succeed with what we have at WR. Period.
Until we have a #1 WR, we will not make the playoffs.
End of discussion.

If we can grab Streeter i'll be ok...he totally destroyed Virginias supposed awesome backfield.

Streeter=Braylon (Stonehands)

Maybe a better quarterback can make little into a decent receiver. It happens all the time, I hear.

.?????? A dropped pass is a dropped pass. It doesn't matter who is throwing it.
-
I don't think we need any wideouts.
#1-Greg Little ...in year 2 and in shape, seasoned and ready to kick ass
#2-Josh Cribbs ...developing into a nice #2 WR IMO.
#3-Carlton Mitchell ...looks a lot like Stephen Hill... 6'4" 215lbs with hops!
#4-MoMass ...a fine young man with good hands and work ethic, watch for a big jump this year.
#5-Norwood ...a speedy/shifty slot receiver who can really fly.
These are some decent receivers that we've got. Don't fret...

Plus the TEs in the passing game as well include:
Watson- Reliable vet who is solid in both blocking and receiving.
Moore- big bodied with ability to go up and get jump balls with soft hands.
Cameron- He's going to be the SECRET WEAPON of the Browns, I've got a feeling we haven't scratched the surface with Jordan!

I don't totally disagree with you, but I think what's lacking is a true X receiver. Could C_Mitch turn into that? Maybe. Tthere just aren't any #1 X receivers left on the board. They may take a flyer on one of the guys left, like Streeter, but isn't he the same guy as Mitchell at this point?
Everyone talks about the Browns needing someone to blow the top off opposing defenses. Having a legitimate running threat and a strong armed QB with good protection might provide that with the guys we have.
Lastly, I wouldn't rule out a trade for a veteren WR. Not Jacoby Jones, but someone that fits the hole they are trying to fill.
I know what the FO said about not trading Colt, but the GB situation is a little odd to me. They need a backup QB to replace Flynn, but haven't pulled the trigger? Waiting for Colt? The Packers are stacked with WOs. Perhaps that's the angle the Browns are playing.
Time will tell.

I have said, that the passing game relies on two relationships. A QB who will throw the ball. This requires the ability of the QB to get it to the receiver. This doesn't require the perfect pass every time but a well thrown ball in the area of the WR is a plus. This also requires the QB to have faith in the WR to go and get the ball and fight for it and that they are going to make the catch. This trust grows so much in that relationship that you begin to see QB make passes that have you scratching your head, ala Rodgers, Brady, Brees, etc., Passes thrown into tight coverage. But this requires confidence in the QB to make the pass and confidence in that WR to make that catch. TRUST.
At times, IMO, I don't think Colt had the confidence to make the throw that needed to be made. There wasn't that TRUST between his ability and the WR's. That's why we saw dump passes all the time.
But time will tell. I am somewhat disappointed that we haven't seen a WR as well, but we saw some great play at times, plus Tight Ends have become the new Fad in the NFL. We have a good set of those guys. IMO, our play calling was dismal and anemic. Our play calling has to get better. Time will tell, as it always does, the truth in this draft.
Trust in the FO guys.
-
And another QB carousel begins. This team could easily go 2-14 if they don't pickup any above average WR.
-
-
They didn't pick the guys on MY draft board, therefore, this team will be worse than last year.
Lmao....football fans think way to highly of their own opinions
-
There is the whole "Little didn't play for a whole year..." but I'm not sure how long we can use that reasoning??
I think a year
