Man I coulda swore the NFL was started in Canton and Stafford was the last guy to throw 500. I thought I'd atleast have those right. Everything else was educated guessing so I can't complain.

The NFL did start in Canton....but it was called the APFA. Two years later the name was changed to the NFL. I am asking where the meeting took place in which the name change was effectuated. And Matt Stafford may indeed have had a 500 yard game....but someone else had a more recent one. It may have only been a week or so later, but it was more recent.

3) the great lakes area.
I guess I should give you half credit if not more.....because the question is somewhat of a trick question. The answer is that the US did not obtain any "new" territory as a result of the War of 1812....but what it did do was to secure its claim to the area you mention, the "Northwest Territory", plus to the land of the Louisiana Purchase. Before the War of 1812 Britain still laid claims to the area that is now Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconson, Minnesota, even Ohio, even though it had been a state for a decade. Of course, the US claimed these territories as well. As a result of the treaty that ended the War of 1812 Britain acknowledged the US's right to these lands....and the US also waived any claims to any lands that are now in Eastern Canada. There still was, later, some dispute about the western border area where Washington, Idaho, Montana, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, North Dakota and Minnesota lie, but those were settled without a fight. In later years America gained most of the rest of its territory over claims from Spain or Mexico. (the Mexican American War settled the US rights to Texas, New Mex. Arizona, California, Utah, Nevada, parts of Colorado and Oklahoma..
Edit correction: perhaps I should not say that Britain wanted Ohio, Ind. Ill. etc.....what they wanted was that that area be and remain an independent Native American Nation. (Trust me, the British didn't do it out of the goodness of their heart for the Indians, they wanted it to be that way so that the US would be restrained in its demand for territory)

Stafford was correct.
Rookie thing was in Aurora.

HMM, the Pro Football Hall of Fame website listed Brady's 500 yard game as the last one accomplished, but, I see that Stafford did get a 500 yard game on 1/1/12.
Ergo, my conclusion is that perhaps I should not use the HOF website as authority for up to date information. So give the check to the man that said Stafford.
Check on Aurora.

Since certain subjects have come up in a few threads, I thought I would put up here a set of trivia that combined football history and history in general. So, here you go:
1. Name the assassins of James Garfield and William McKinley.
2. Where did the league meeting take place in 1922 wherein it was decided to change the name of the entity from "The American Professional Football Association" to "The National Football League"?
3. What territory did the USA obtain as a result of supposedly winning the War of 1812?
4. Quarterbacks have thrown for over 500 yards in a game 11 times in history.
Name the first one to throw for 500 yards:
Name the most recent one to throw for 500 yards:
5. Who is attributed with having started the French and Indian War?
6. What was the longest kick ever to win an OT game? (NOT to win a game in regular time), And who made that kick?
7. What do the following constitute: St. Pierre, Miquelon, Guadeloupe, Martinique.
8. Who were the first ever two teams to make post season play as "wild card" teams?
9. Where did the westernmost battle of the Revolutionary War take place?
10. Besides being NFL players that made the Hall of Fame, what did the following players have in common: Charlie Joiner, Ray Nitschke, Roger Staubach?

Since certain subjects have come up in a few threads, I thought I would put up here a set of trivia that combined football history and history in general. So, here you go:
1. Name the assassins of James Garfield and William McKinley.
Charles Guiteau and Leon Czolgosz respectively . Tsk Tsk. Did anyone here pass high school history?
2. Where did the league meeting take place in 1922 wherein it was decided to change the name of the entity from "The American Professional Football Association" to "The National Football League"?
It took place at the Hollenden House Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio
3. What territory did the USA obtain as a result of supposedly winning the War of 1812?
None actually. See my explanation to Taco in a prior post.
4. Quarterbacks have thrown for over 500 yards in a game 11 times in history.
Name the first one to throw for 500 yards:
Name the most recent one to throw for 500 yards:
Van Brocklin for 554 yards, still the record.
Matt Stafford on 1/1/12 (Brady had done it earlier in the season)
5. Who is attributed with having started the French and Indian War?
George Washington is correct. The Colonial Gov. of Virginia sent young Major Washington out on a recon mission in the Allegheny country/Ohio Valley. When they came upon a column of French Soldiers out of Ft. Duquesne, later Ft. Pitt, now Pittsburgh, George decided to attack them. This was known as the Battle of Jumonville Glen and it sparked the FI War.
6. What was the longest kick ever to win an OT game? (NOT to win a game in regular time), And who made that kick?
Sebastian Janikowski of the Raiders. 57 yards on 10/19/08
7. What do the following constitute: St. Pierre, Miquelon, Guadeloupe, Martinique.
These are the sole remaining French possessions in the Western Hemisphere. St. Pierre and Miquelon are two small islands off the coast of Newfoundland. Guadeloupe and Martinique are in the Carribean.
8. Who were the first ever two teams to make post season play as "wild card" teams?
The Houston Oilers and the Kansas City Chiefs were the first two teams in history to make postseason play without winning or being tied for their division or conference title. This was in the AFL in 1969. In that year the AFL still only had 2 divisions but needed 4 teams for their playoff run up to the SB. The NFL had gone to 4 divisions by that time, so all their participants were still division winners. FYI, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.
9. Where did the westernmost battle of the Revolutionary War take place?
St. Louis in what is now Missouri. A British/Native force attacked the American/French/Spanish outfit that was there. About 100 people were killed. The British attack was thwarted when reinforcements led by George Roges Clark arrived.
10. Besides being NFL players that made the Hall of Fame, what did the following players have in common: Charlie Joiner, Ray Nitschke, Roger Staubach?
They all served in Vietnam in the military.
11. There were about 10,000 battles and skirmishes during the Civil War. 40% of them took place in only 2 states. What are these two states?
Virginia and Tennessee
12. Where did the NFL hold its recent rookie symposium?
Aurora, Ohio
13. What are 2 significant factors of the Civil War "Battle of Salineville"?
First: it was the northernmost skirmish that official confederate soldiers participated in the war. It was essentially the conclusive battle of Morgan's Raids, he was captured escaping from that battle. Salineville is located between Lisbon OH and East Liverpool
Second, it was one of only two battles that occurred on Ohio soil. The other was the Battle of Buffington Island, which is on the Ohio River further south of Salineville. That was also against Morgan before he was caught.
