  • but all's well that ends well.

  • Weeden 3/9 62 1 int 19 rating (should have been two picks).

    McCoy 6/8 86 110.4 rating

    Wallace 7/13 86 100.2 rating

Welcome to the NFL rookie. (I am all in for Weeden, don't take it that I am not pulling for the kid)

  • Colt looked sharp and I think he deserves a chance...

  • Yea he really looked sharp against Detroit's backups.

  • really nice catch by Carlton Mitchell all hands on that one with safety coming in for the kill he picked a low pass out of the air.

Like Coops hands better than Norwood but Norwood is so shifty.

I think it's time to let MoMass, Owen M. Wallace and Cousins go

    Colt and Weeden

L.J. Fort i think he may be a keeper.

actually he played against the first stringers on 2 of his positions that he went 5/5 on

if pocket had not collapsed would have hit Benjamin for another deep TD

  • You have to take a look at each of Weeden's passes to judge him fairly. 3-9 with a pick sounds bad but in reality it wasn't horrible:

#1: Throws a strike to Massaquoi (not a concussion!!)

#2: Throws another strike to Benjamin on the sideline for a 34 yard gain (some serious speed from Travis)

#3: We called a screen play where Detroit saw it coming from a mile away and we're waiting so he threw the ball into the ground which was a smart play

#4: Out pattern to Josh Gordon that was thrown a bit low but he's got to catch a ball like that, I will give him a pass considering he hasn't played since he was at Baylor a year and a half ago

#5: This was the play of the fumble and he just held onto the ball too long because it was 3rd down with 15 yards to go and I think he was trying to make a play but he just needed to dump the ball to Jordan Cameron in the flats and settle. Gotta respect him trying to make a play

#6: Play action play and he hit Cameron on an out where he got the first down on 2nd and 11 (not many times last year would we even get a first down if we got to a 2nd and long)

#7: This was the almost 2nd pick, If you we're watching the game you saw that Josh Gordon ran an awful attempt at a comeback route and it was on the receiver completely.

#8: This pass they had some pressure so Weeden wisely just got out of the pocket and threw the ball away

#9: Another screen play that there was a lot of traffic on via pressure and he threw it high to Hardesty and he didn't come down with it

#10: This was the pick to Greg Little where he stared him down and the defender anticipated it because his eyes were fixed.

I counted it as 10 because of the fumble but he made a couple good decisions getting rid of the ball on basically broken plays and made some nice throws. His main thing he needs to work on would be his staring down of receivers. Gordon certainly didn't help him out tonight and is going to have to prove himself going forward because he did not look deserving of a starting job tonight

  • MoMass tweeted that he was fine, no concussion, and was only taken out for "precautionary" reasons. Honestly at this point I find myself more worried about the defense. Let's hope the rest of the injuries were just precautionary.

  • Any idea on the Cameron injury? I don't think it is too serious, but I'm curious. He looked good out there and I'd hate to lose him.

  • Momass has lost his mojo. Time to cut the cord. His tentativeness on the field is a liability

Couldn't agree more...bye bye MoMas. Hopefully hell get aesh start like Robiskie... had a great game in AjJax last night 6+ catches 70+ yards I think

  • Yes time to let Momass walk ALL IN ALL The defense played ok!!!4 or 5 of the starters where not there so I am not to worried about the defense colt Mcoy Looked sharp Wow Weeden will come around we will see.

  • Misc thoughts....

    On the plus side...

Benjamin was impressive. Hardesty ran hard.

Starting 2ndary looked ready... A couple of the DL rush schemes looked interesting. Billy Winn still has his motor.

    On "the other" side...

OL depth is non existent. The Swartz looks like a road grader they forgot to install a reverse gear in.

    On the dark side...

We learned that even a 29 yo rookie is still a rookie... you just have 6 fewer years to develop him.

Colt McCoy has more leadership and charisma in his pinkie than Weedon has in his entire body... for a ginger, heedon has no fire. I feel like I am watching Phipps-Sipe II.

He has an excellent chance to be the backup.

    Zombo

--Did i see "Colt" and "laser" in the same sentence somewhere?

  • I think Weeden looked pretty good myself! To be his first start against that defense it wasnt bad at all. Christ man Stafford had an int that was way worse then any that Weeden threw. As for the guy who looked completely like he is going to be a really good player is going to be Travis Benjamin, he has got some great speed and is a tough son of a gun. He looks like Desean Jackson but with way better routes. Gordon looked pretty lost out there also, but once again it was his first game in a awhile. Our D will get absolutely shredded by Lesean Mccoy.

Yes. Colt watched Weeden's laser arm from the sidelines.

For all the negativity surrounding Weeden's performance last night, no one realized Stafford played just as bad. While it's tough to compare a rookie, to a guy who threw for over 5000 yards last year. Doesn't it just show that the first preseason game can be sloppy. I'd much rather see him get all of his mistakes out of the way now and learn from them. All I can remember is McCoy lighting it up in preseason last year, then laying an egg during the season. If Weeden is still struggling during the 3rd preseason game I might get a little worried, but really week 1 will be the true test. Let's just pray that Richardson will be playing by then!

well if schwartz turns out to be a bust expect much of the same from weeden this year (if he even starts).

Weeden looked dreadful. He's a 30 year old rookie, how much upside could he possibly have? OSU was a gimmick offense and Cleveland is just a bad one. Hope he survives his first year behind that sheet of Kleenex you guys call an offensive line.

If Colt isn't going to compete for a starting gig, then the Browns need to dump him somewhere quickly. He will only be a distraction and as soon as Weeden falls on his face (he will) the entire city will be calling for the backup to lead Cleveland to their standard 6-10 season instead. Dump him.

  • Weeden telegraphing everything and just little dump offs like last year...just run go routes like DET not these little dump and dink and come backs...ugh Our Offensive game plan makes any QB look noodle arm. Gordon just seems lost out there, Hardesty really only one playing out there...HERE COMES COLT!!!

He's a 30 year old rookie from a questionable program. Obviously a great pick to secure the future of the Browns franchise
