Yes its always the oline. They're easy targets. Why does every other oline in the NFL always look better? Our oline has at least two pro bowlers

Then who do you blame for there always being 2+ defenders in the backfield when he gets the ball?

Its offensive line and mostly coaching. Its bad when you have mostly 1 & 2 rounders on the o line and they cant run block worth a damn.

Cause every team doesn't hide the fact that they have O-Line problems like our coaches do. How many years have we heard that Lauvou is improving and have seen the exact opposite happen. It was the O-Line, it was obvious. Now if Richardson was constantly getting past the O-Line and was was only getting 2ish yards cause he couldn't get past LB and DB I would agree more. But when the O-Line can't push the 30th ranked run defense in the NFL that scares the shit out of me.

Im not sure where you're going. Whether or not they hide it, how can our line be as bad as all that? How can our line year after year after year make the qb and the rb be awful?

Doesn't matter how good the oline is. It is simple numbers. They had 9 guys in a box we had 7 blockers. They don't respect our passing game.

Oh but weeden can't pass. He's got no time its the oline /sarcasm

I thought T-Rich was actually really good for his first time...absolutely no issues...picked up the blocks well, dropped a few ala Owen Mesucka dong dong...now Weeden...should not be in the NFL. His brain is just not able to process information fast enough. He is a great guy no issues just please god if he is 0-10 TD to INT we have to pull him.

We don't want to hear Pat say that he was a rookie and the ball was dropped to many times and it was windy so the ball sailed 20 feet over the receivers head or it was so sunny that he couldn't see a wide open Watson in the endzone.

This was the worst performance of a potential starting quarterback in the history of football.

I honestly can't believe Pat said he looked solid out there and didn't seemed fazed. yes, he looked like a damn rock. couldn't avoid pressure, couldn't throw the ball because he was a rock, actually he looked more like a fossil...but that's ok becaue he looked solid and calm under pressure. He looked like a damn reindeer who got lost and landed in Miami Beach.

Seriously what the hell do you expect him to do? Our offense is so obviously scripted a 8 year can tell you what we're running. Not to mention every run is an ISO up the middle into 9-10 man fronts. Jesus could have suited up and only ran for 50 yards.

So let's get this straight...Richardson gets a pass for being crap, but weeden doesn't? They both sucked and had better start trying to get better.

Phil Dawson is the guy again. Why don't I have his jersy? He's the only guy that can do anything.

Trent is less to blame IMO because he was ran up the middle. One time he bumped outside cause there was NOTHING for him to go through. And he did turn a few runs into a couple of yards. But the O-line and Shurmur's horrible play calling takes more blame.

Weeden blew 2 TD passes by over throwing all day long. This from a guy that we constantly heard how friggin' accurate he was all during training camp. These were TD's. We should have had 14 more points on the board and won this game. Trent didn't have an opportunity like Weeden did, period.

A good back would have redirected at least once or twice and made something out of nothing. Are we the worst oline in the NFL since 99? Because as of this moment right now, Richardson included we have never had a back that could do shit.

There was nothing inventive about the run plays. Plus, we rarely stretched the field. Defenses load up the box and your not going to run. The play calling did not help us at all.

We stretched the field twice... both resulted in INT's by Cromartie who covered Benjamin like a blanket.

Philly completely disregarded our passing attack (justifiably) and stacked the box... they even narrowed their wide-9 D to stuff the run. Even Jim Brown would have looked bad today.

TR wasn't 100%, if for no other reason, because he missed the entire preseason. I'm not worried about him.

Five linemen can't block 7 guys... I'm not worried about them.

I'm worried about a receiver corps that showed next to zero ability to separate from coverage.

I'm worried about our one read wonder of a "rookie" QB who will throw to his primary regardless of how well covered they are... and miss them when they are wide open to boot.

Thank you for noticing that Weeden was throwing into tight coverage all day. I'm one that says that you have to do that. The greats do. They thread needles all the time. The difference is the being accurate with those throws. You have to throw them where only the receiver can get them or give them an advantage over the defense. Weeden was inaccurate and all over the place. It's great he has the confidence to do it, and he has the arm strength, but he has to be that guy we were all be sold during training camp. Accurate, accurate, accurate. Today he was not. Hopefully it was first game jitters and adrenaline and he settles down and makes better decisions and doesn't give away 14 points by throwing TD's into the dog pound.

  • wait, you mean a your rookie RB with knee problems might not run for 1500+ yrds and 20+ TD's this season? or your rookie QB didn't come in and toss 350yrds and 5TDs in his debut?

    you don't say.

T Rich will be fine. When he was given the tiniest of running lanes he was gaining yards.

    Welcome to the league

As good as Thomas and Mack are they are not run blockers and tbh the rest of our O-Line is average at best.

Richardson didn't have any holes and when he did he made some decent gains, I think he gets a pass for now considering it's his first real action since college.

I'm saying wouldnt a great back like he's supposed to be chsnge his route on the fly? Head outside or somfthing. Who knows? Not run right into the pile and take a loss

Well just because you are not Barry Sanders,Jim Brown,Bo Jackson doesn't mean you cannot be a great back.

I kind of agree he didn't look like anything special, but he made 2-3 decent runs and trucked the one guy.

He still might. After all, OJ Simpson gained 2000 yards in 14 games. And the QB may just have to wait a couple of games.

I wasn't saying it- just some guys here with very unrealistic expectations.

BTW, nice pick-6 by Ben. I'm putting the odds at 50-50 he can finish the season in one piece behind that decimated O-line you guys are left with.
