It's not for lack of effort. He was a 3rd round pick because he was an unknown. His measurables weren't great so that's why he was picked in that round. They took a gamble on him and it didn't work out. Not saying it was all him, but defenses don't respect his arm and they have no reason to.
The Browns picked an AARP QB in the 1st round this year. No way they lose any time with Weeden. He was picked in the first round because he measurables were good. He can move the ball better and opens up more plays.
Get over the Colt man love. This is a Browns forum, not a Longhorns forum.

Why would any team "sprinkle in" the back up? Any team?
Your quarterback is your commander and leader. You don't "sprinkle in" somebody else.
If you feel Colt would make the better starter, just say it. But no one is getting "sprinkled in"

It's not even Colt love, it's just the fact that we act like he was worse than Frye, Dilfer, Quinn, Dehlomme ETC.
Colt didn't work out here, sure. But we should stop acting like he was the worst QB we've ever had.
I'm not saying anything about Colt playing now or deserving to play...he's just not as bad as you guys make him out to be. You act like he was the reason we were bad, when it's obvious that it doesn't matter who our QB is we're still gonna lose games.
It's funny how last year we were 12th in 3rd down% and this season we're in the bottom 5 so far. You guys call Colt a drive killer, but we converted the 6th most 3rd downs in the entire league and converted them on a good %.

I think he is better than Quinn or Frye, but I also think he is a career backup. Nothing wrong with that, it's good work if you can get.
