Heckert The Next Man Out?

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert believes he could be the next front office executive out as new owner Jimmy Haslam officially takes the reins, according to FoxSportsOhio.
Citing unnamed sources, the report says Heckert believes he will follow team president Mike Holmgren out the door at season's end, and to that end, Heckert has already been contacting friends around the NFL to brace for his next landing spot.
The fate of Browns coach Pat Shurmur could also be up in the air, as Haslam said at his Tuesday news conference that he wants to see progress in the team before deciding on the coaching staff's fate.

Heckert's been good, he hasn't been great, but good has been better than anything we've gotten out of our GM in years. Thoughts?

i'd keep him. but what i hear there is bad blood between him and banner from the philly days. who knows maybe he fucked his wife. so people hold grudges, which to me is stoopid when it comes to biz.

A new Sheriff in town, new deputy captains....just the way it works.

Yep...that's business. The guy spends a billion dollars...he wants his own people working for him.

I agree, but, I think that if he finds he has a really good player in the business then he is the kind of man that would take advantage of that and keep him around for the ride. Heckert is really good and who knows how much say Holmgren actually had in putting in for draft picks. I know of atleast McCoy and Weeden... there may be others. Who really knows but Heckert and Holmgren... and know probably Hasslam. I like the new owner, he seems legit about making this factory of sadness into a factory of happiness... we'll see won't we?

My money, my company, my people...........

I really hope he stays, but I'm "not too optimistic" about it to quote Mr. Heckert himself.

Heckert has been solid, but not great. He did a good job flipping this roster from the oldest to the youngest, but at the same time we saw no improvement on the field. We see players like Brandon Marshall and Vontae Davis get traded to teams for 3rd round picks and we don't get in on that, that's what I hate.
Plus, we haven't gone after anybody in FA. We just brought Eagles people in.

I think that heckerts not scared of free agents, he is scared of free agents too early. I think you under estimate how bad of shape this roster was in after mangini etc were done. We had zero legit talent besides Thomas, d Jackson and kinda Mack.. Heckert and probably holmgren knew we were at least 3 years out and that was only if we got lucky. We need these top picks now, like it or not, to infuse some young talent into our team and we are heading in the right direction IMO but still aren't there yet. Heckert would spend, I think, when the time is right and when the price is right for free agents or to trade for veterans. If you are building a long term winner, then sadly now is still not the time, soon hopefully depending on how well, largely, heckerts picks turn out

I think it depends on Heckert's contribution to the panic that made us trade up one slot to get TR and taking BW at #22...
If Tom was at the heart of these moves, he has to go. In fact, if he did anything except fight against them, then he has to go...
Why?
Because if there's truth in even the latter of the above, then he is now a doormat of a GM and always will be.
