Here is some Thanksgiving Day trivia. I will begin with some non-football questions, but that last part will be about Turkey Day football:

    1. The Puritans of Massachussetts brought a tradition of having a day of Thanksgiving with them from England. Which English King is credited with having started the tradition there?

    2. Canadians do not celebrate Thanksgiving when we do, but it is held on a different US holiday. Which one?

    3. In what year was the Thanksgiving Day Holiday made official and the date for it set by an Act of Congress?

    4. The Japanese also hold Thanksgiving, but they combine it with another US Holiday. Which one?

    5. Why is "Black Friday" called "Black Friday"?

    6. Which now terminated college rivalry was most associated with being played on Thanksgiving?

    7. Which were the first two college teams that began playing regularly on Thanksgiving?

    8. Detroit and Dallas are the traditional hosts for NFL games on Thanksgiving. In what year did each of them begin playing on Turkey Day?

    9. After this year when the DumbAssTexans play their first Turkey Day game, there will be two teams that will never have played on Thanksgiving. Which two?

    10. A. When was the last time the Browns played a Thanksgiving Day game?

    B. Since the 1950 merger how many times have the Browns played an NFL game on Thanksgiving?

    C. What is their record in those games?

    11. Within a certain margin of error what is the Cowboys winning pct. on Thanksgiving day games?

What is the Lions win pct.?

    12. The tradition for a Dallas team to host a Thanksgiving Day game was actually started by the last NFL team to go defunct, the Dallas Texans, who played their final "home" game on Thanksgiving Day at....The Akron Rubber Bowl. Who did those DumbAssTexans play that day and what was the result?

    Bonus Notes, not Questions: \

    A. The Cleveland Browns actually did play 3 Turkey Day games when they were in the AAFC and won all of them.

    B. The Cleveland Rams played the Thanksgiving Day Classic in Detroit in 1945 and won.

    C. The Houston Texans will be playing the Lions this year on Thanksgiving Day. The Cowboys will be playing the Redskins that day.

Since it is still before Thanksgiving and several of these have not been answered I will give an interim status on the trivia. Here are the ones that still need to be answered:

                  7. Who was the other college team besides Yale that first played on Thanksgiving?

                  8. What year did the Detroit Lions start playing on Thanksgiving?

What year did the Dallas Cowboys start playing on Thanksgiving?

                  9. Who is the other team besides the Jaguars that has never played on Thanksgiving Day? (after this year when the Houston Texans will make their first appearance)

                  11. Within a certain margin of error, what is the Lions winning pct. on Thanksgiving Day?

                  12. Who was the 1952 Dallas Texans Thanksgiving day opponent at the Rubber Bowl, and what was the result?
