The Long, And Not Particularly Interesting, Story Of A Hat.

The Browns Board

  • I see you've only been posting on this board since September, so hardly a veteran of the board yourself.

The board classifies you as a "High School All Star", and I am guessing from the juvenile nature of your writing that this also reflects your status in life. I am guessing you're around 17 years old, proficient at English, but spend a lot of time at home on the internet, wanking a lot. Probably still a virgin. Not sure yet whether to give your virginity away to a girl or boy - is it legal at your age in the USA? You do seem to have a bit of an obsession with writing about what it's like to be gay, so maybe you should seek out more of your kind. Is there a site for young, gay, Browns fans? Hmmm, quick google - found it for you - www.please-take-my-brown-ring.com

For your information, the Bluebirds is the nickname of Cardiff City Football Club, the team currently in second place in the Championship, which is the second highest league in the UK. Yes, I'm talking about football, the game played by every country in the world, as opposed to a peculiar form of "handball" played by American people who are so scared of getting injuried, they have to wear protective clothing.

-You saw that I have only been posting since September, that is quite observant of you. I forgot all my login information from my previous thingy and had to start over from scratch. First strike.

-I am of legal age; I will concede that I am a little immature for my age, but I play a game for a living, so I can be childish as long as I want. Strike two.

-I am not a virgin. Haven't been in quite some time. I have never played "swords" with another man, never will. Strike three.

-You confuse obsession with "brilliant psychology", I was just trying to have a walk around the inside of your head. Strike four.

-There is no site called that. Strike five.

-Bluebirds is still the silliest name to ever give a men's team. Well, unless their targeted demographic are capri wearing sausage stuffers such as yourself. that's six.

    - We are the United States of America, if we want to call it football, it is football. You other countries can get together whenever you like to discuss the new name of soccer.

So effectively, you had six straight strikes. I'm not sure of the rules of cricket, but in baseball, you're Grady Siezemore

Browns is more of a gay name than Bluebirds. "Period" (as you yanks seem to have an affection for saying for no apparent reason)

  • I couldn't frankly give a fuck about your protective clothing. My issue is more with the guy who seems to think that the game (hardly "Euro-soccer" as it's played in every continent on the planet) is in some way inferior to the game you play.

And incidentally, I'm Welsh, not English. Cardiff are one of only a few Welsh teams that play in the English league, and the only team to have ever taken the FA Cup out of England.

It is inferior in terms of strategy, being more demanding on your body and athletes. In terms of athletes, there are numerous professional players that play 2 sports, shit Deon Sanders played in a baseball and football game in on the same day. At the college level there are some players who play 4 sports. That is called athletic ability. I'd like to see a soccer player play rugby, lol (Vinny Jones being the only one I could think of, lol). I like to watch a good game of soccer, I've been to many games and it is awesome! Saw Man U vs Leeds (when they were actually good) from the pitch at Old Trafford, met Bobby Charlton. Saw countless games in Leeds. You should really keep an open mind about Football, you should try watching a game and learn something outside your comfort zone, you just might learn something.

The Browns are named in honor of Paul Brown.

Well, you learn something new and useless every day I suppose.

If you (poster above) follow Leeds, you will surely recall Cardiff's defeat of Leeds in the FA Cup about 12 years ago. Leeds were top of the Premiership, Cardiff were in the equivalent of the 3rd division at the time. Following this game, Leeds could not win a match, and their plummet from their previously top position could easily be traced to this game. Leeds nosedived into the league below Cardiff, where they were made to suffer for, I think, 3 seasons. Cardiff continue to beat Leeds on just about every time we play them.

Anyway, enough of this nonsense. I post what, as far as I was concerned, was a pretty harmless post on a messageboard which I thought would have users who would have at least some interest. And what do I encounter? Two vile trolls. Can't escape from them anywhere, it seems.

I can't say you two have really encouraged me to want to become a Browns fan. If I wear the hat again, it will now be with a definite sense of irony (and as you're American, if you're not sure what that is, I suggest you refer to a dictionary). Good luck against the Cowboys - looks like you will need it. The Browns v The Cowboys - sounds like the headline for a disco at the YMCA.

Yea I already moved before Leeds became bad. Really just followed their record and noticed they sucked.

As far as liking the Browns, probably don't care who you like, just start learning the game. The more you learn the more you will see it is like chess on steroids. It's awesome. Peace out.

Really? Brown is the color of dirt. The game, originally was played on dirt. You think a game played on dirt...and where, in many cases it is legal to give your opponent a forearm shiver is gay?

Besides, the name Browns is not derived from the color but from the names of the people. Paul Brown, Jim Brown, and Joe "the Brown Bomber" Louis.

Learn a little bit about the history of this league and this team and you will know that Paul Brown is perhaps the greatest coach in its history and Jim Brown perhaps the greatest player.

FYI, Superman was not a white guy with a big red S on his chest, but a black guy wearing a number 32 on his chest.

    (but...they are both from Cleveland)

Here is the tale of the process I went to in order to get my hands on a particular Cleveland Browns hat here in the UK.

This is the gayest thing I have ever read. Ever.

You could have wrote about two mean porking each other in the ass and it would be slightly less gay.

I feel dirty that the Cleveland Browns were somehow involved in this ball-licking hat search.

By the way, despite what others have said to you, I found the story interesting.

And I believe after all the effort you went through, you should consider that hat your most prized possession....for the effort you went in getting it, and for the fact that you will be deemed as the most astute of denizens of the UK for wearing a Browns.

Any dipshit, dumbass frontrunnerasskisser can wear a Yankees or Cowboys hat, but only a true lord among men wear a Browns hat.

And if others tell you they think it is gay, tell them to take it up with the guy in the photo.

No, Torchwood was the Dr. Who spinoff.
