Our Qb Is Not The Answer....

  • He had *all day* to throw today, and we see he just doesnt natural game speed reactions. He is tentative, uncertain, looking for the checkdown.

    No pocket presence at all.

Many of those things dont get better with time.

I dont know or care if he is better than colt or not. My guess is he is, but we need to find a solution at qb.

The secondary during the second half was atrocious today, but that will get partially better when haden comes back.

But weeden is a loser. I said it after week 1 and Im still saying it. His statistics make him look more effective than he is, and his statistics are prety bad(next to last in qb rating I believe).

He has an above average arm if he has time to wind up and step into a throw, but that is it. His other innate abilities are poor. He doesnt have good accuracy in tight windows- thats a skill that cant be taught. He is slow with his footwork- another skill that cant be taught. And his natural instincts under pressure simply suck. He doesnt have a future as a solid nfl starting qb.

  • Sounds a lot more likely that poor coaching is the cause of Weeden's issues. He was a lot more confident earlier in the season and made much better throws, but now with his coach brilliantly saying to him to "stop the interceptions" and Banner basically saying the next 7 games determines the rest of his career, can you really blame the rookie for playing stiff and hesitent???

  • sure i like the strong arm but where's the touch? that corner route overthrow in the end zone was more embarrassing than anything colt mccoy has put up in the last 2 years.

end of story. so sad. too bad.

another gut of the franchise next year.

here's to seeing a winning record in 2015.

people are 'on the spot' everyday of their lives, rookies or not.

don't perform good as a newbie on the job? won't be there long.

that's the difference between the people that can make it or not. when your number pops up either step up or step off.

i'm really not trying to stir up a mccoy vs. weeden thing. who knows how mccoy would do under shurmur. i know for one thing that that number 13 didn't change for about a half hour of possession time. for all i care shurmur and weeden both blow.

perfect example the kid from stanford yesterday. new that's where he belonged (being a star since peewee, in his mind) and steppin up to the mic and kicking ass.

this franchise has made so many mistakes in the draft (in the past) that it's been a valiant effort by heckert to try and play catchup. the problem is, when you Fup so bad that there is no complete team for a QB to come in and gradually grow and learn. you got 1-2 years to show your worth.

  • I honestly believe Colt will have another chance with this organization

  • Just like colt mccoy last year brandon weeden was told a couple of weeks ago DO NOT THROW AN INTERCEPTION! by pat shurmur, and when a QB tries to hard not to make a mistake because his coaches are breathing down his rookie ass he is only going to throw what he deems safe bets and in that process he will often hold on to the ball to long..

A great team starts with a great coach that enables a great QB not the other way around..

It really irks me that jimmy haslam is another gutless "f#ck the fans" type owner whom has chosen to let this coaching fiasco continue in the face of browns fans everywhere, and with joe banner in charge it gives me very little confidence that anything will actually change for the better..

    What next andy frucking reid?

  • couldn't agree with you more...he is a born loser...actually, he is not...but a leader he is not in any form. This adult plays like a highschooler and just can't pull the trigger when needed. make a play. Throw the ball where the receiver will be not where he is!!!

But the question is, do they swallow?

  • we've seen what McCoy can do. He sucks. Weeden is better. Not that being better then McCoy is a good thing, because McCoy was AWEFUL. So being better then AWEFUL isn't that hard to accomplish.

if you go back and look and the stats for mccoy in his games played in his rookie season these guys are 2 peas in a pod. mccoy QBR and overall rating was higher even though he played hurt. although we'll never know what he'd done for a complete season, if you call mccoy AWEFUL then you gotta call weeden AWEFUL.

and jibz i think i have the right to speak on mccoy since he is OUR backup QB. no it doesn't mean i want him to be the starter. it's just other people close their eyes to the facts and don't have an objective view on a lot of topics.

  • People got a lot of faith in Weeden man and so far that's all it is - faith.

We drafted this guy to be a franchise QB - that is somebody who can win us games with his arm and not just manage the game and not lose it for us.

Sure Weeden has shown potential that maybe he could be that sorta QB, but until he actual does it he's unproven.

And please stop making excuses for him like everyone did with Colt.

Weeden has got more weapons than Colt and a hell of a lot more pass protection than Colt it's almost time to either put up or shut up.

  • this is pretty simple

    2012 starting QB- Weeden

    2013 starting QB= Weeden

    2014 starting QB= Weeden

He will be our QB for at least 3 yrs, there is nobody in the QB class this yr " you gotta have" and Weeden is better than anyone coming out.

Really Dude? You some super smart talent evaluator who can reach that conclusion after 10 games? What team do you work for?

Here's what I think. Brandon Weeden is 1 of 4 rookies playing in an antiquated 1980's version of the WCO in the toughest division in football. Being run by the worst offensive innovator/playcaller ever.

Question, have you ever seen the all 22? My guess is no, b/c if you had you'd see that only the primary receiver is running a proper route. The secondary receivers are out there just jogging around watching the play instead of being part of it. Gordon is the worst. If he's not the primary, then he's not running hard trying to get open.

That's why you see Weeden standing back there "looking and looking" only to have to check it down when the primary receiver is covered. The secondary guys are giving a halfassed effort.

It's also the reason Weeden seems so inaccurate on those plays when he does try to hit one of his secondary receivers. The guys are at the wrong spot and depth than what was practiced. Inconsistent route running makes for a inconsistent passing attack.

Is BW perfect? Of course not. But it's pretty tough when you don't have a veteran receiver to throw to and all the utes are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It's no coincidence that Ben Watson was the most affective receiver Sunday.

As for Colt mcCoy, that guy is done. The team begged for someone to offer anything for that scrub, no takers.

It's Weeden now, next week and next year. You may as well get use to it.

  • Hope he gets hurt so Colt can win a few games this year

    Thank you! Very well said.

    Mike

  • Inexperienced receivers, check. Two less than average quarterbacks, check. Incredibly improved offensive line, Retard Rodgers double check. That's should be at least something we can cheer about on offense. What a difference the Schwartz had made in place of dipshit Pashos. Great pass protection. Colt had about a second and a half to make a decision. Weeden has had all day in the pocket many snaps every game, very impressive. If it could all come together with passing and receiving.

  • Is this where the Colt McCoy fan club hangs out? I wonder what the meetings are like? (besides someone messing up the cups of coffee, talking about how Colt's shoulder is totally healed now πŸ™„ , and the usual throwing darts at a dartboard with James Harrison's picture on it) Anyways, the all too typical short sighted post here. All the blame on one person. This time on Brandon Weeden. Did you guys ever take a second to wonder what the receivers were doing to get open in that time that Weeden had to throw. I like Gordon, Little, Cooper, etc., but these guys are hardly vets who run great routes and realize that they have to break routes and get to open space when the play breaks down. I am sure that there is a little blame to go around here to both the players (receivers included) and the staff. There are four rookies starting and several others contributing regularly on offense. It is not going to look polished this year. Please get a grip.
