So i beat the Browns up the last few years even before i started coming to these forums for never attacking free agency, for always arguing against the next year mentality, trading superstar picks away and the list can go on.

But this year i am scared, its a true wildcard year, we punched into free agency, we stayed at 6, we signed a solid vet at QB to compete with Weeden, we have schemes that will show our players strengths off, and shoot me if im wrong, but i think Chud believes its a playoff year right now......

We can't epicly fail 3 in a row, WE CAN'T.

No playoffs. But keep your eye on Jason Campbell. Won't surprise me if he becomes the starting QB at some point over a healthy Weeden.

really? I'd see Hoyer playing over Campbell (little stretch) did you see him play for Washington? don't let numbers fool you (they do sometimes lie)

The Jason Campbell who played for the Redskins no longer exists -- there is a much better version in his place. Campbell was outstading for the Raiders until he got hurt.

Re Browns chances, the coaching staff is much better but the opportunities this team had in the draft to really address weaknesses and depth issues weren't taken advantage of. Browns should have made that Rams deal. All the oher three teams in the division had much better off seasons -- the draft and FA -- and even though the rowns coaching staff is better, that's offset by the fact that the other divison foes added more talent this off-season.

As I said: you know it's going to happen -- new Steelers Safety Shamarko Thomas (courtesy of the Browns trade) is going to intercept a Weeden pass late in a Steelers-Browns game this coming season and take it to the house to win the game.

  • Campbell was downright horrifically awful for the Bears while relieving Cutler last year; his only skill is in checking the ball down to RB's and TE's. The only potential starter other than Weeds is Hoyer.

  • Weeden was down right horrific in every game last year, but yet he's still starting....?

  • I could see Campbell taking over for Weeden by week 6.

    You need some new material...

I'm not a big Weeden fan but people need to be fair. Look at the history of the NFl and you see most rookie QBs struggling and many of the good ones then had break out seasons in years 2 and 3 in the NFl. Could happen with Weeden. I think he'll be better in 2013, but I don't see him being a pro bowl type QB in the NFl, at least his first few eyars in the league, and by the time he really gets comfortable he may be too old to play at his peak level.

Weeden would have really been helped this coming season with a decent, experienced TE to throw to. Browns did him a great disservice in failing to sign a quality FA tight end, or at least drafting a quality TE talent. The Browns' ex-USC TE is not the answer.

Evidently the Raiders did not see much juice left in a QB who couldn't outplay a washed up Donovan McNabb or got benched by the likes of Brad Gradkowski.

  • Weeden, I predict will have a very nice year under Norv and Chud. It seems to be an offense suited to him. Absent injury I suspect he plays, and fairly well thrives the entire year.

How good the team will be is dependent on a lot more than how good Weeden will be.

He will be a big cog but not everything in the game of football is reliant on the QB.
