  • Per a conversation on another thread I have put this together. It is the number of Finals made by decade by teams from each city. It is a cumulative total for each town in that decade for the 4 major sports. Just a few notes: Baseball goes back to the 1900. Hockey goes back to 1917. Football back to 1933 when the first playoff was held. Basketball back to 1946. I am only giving the total for each town. Leagues include: MLB/NBA/ABA/NFL/AFL/AAFC/NHL/WHL

    These are just Finals appearances. That cities actual title count is I believe 59. : 35 in baseball, 11 in hockey(the city's total includes the entire area, so "New Jersey" is included), 9 in football, 4 in basketball.

  • On a related note, and since it was brought up. Here are the titles won by each town/region in each sport. I am including in here some pre-NHL Stanley Cup winners, plus towns in other sports that won a title, so there are several towns that currently no longer have teams. This also includes titles won in the NFL/AFL/AAFC/MLB/NBA/ABA/NHL/WHL (or was that WHA). I also include any cities current with a team, although that town may have never won a title:
