Browns/Bengals Game by Game data points
-
I thought about doing these as trivia, but I thought I would give you a break. Here are some Browns/Bengals Data Points on games in their history.
1. The current head to head record between the Browns and Bengals is that the Bengals have won 42 games, the Browns 38.
2. The Browns largest margin of victory over the Bengals was in a 34-0 game on 10/18/1987.
3. The Bengals largest margin of victory over the Browns was 32 points in a 48-16 game on 12/17/78.
4. The Browns and Bengals have played in two of the 5 highest scoring games in NFL history:
Bengals 58 Browns 48 on 11/28/2004
Browns 51 Bengals 45 on 9/16/2007
5. Lowest margin of victory has been 1 point on 2 occasions: 10/19/99 18-17 Bengals win (Akili Smith only win as a starting NFL QB). 9/15/1991 14-13 Browns win
6. Lowest scoring game between the two teams: 10/29/2000 Bengal 12 Browns 3 (15 total points)
7. In the 58-48 game won by Bengals Kelly Holcomb had 413 passing yards, and Antonio Bryant had 131 receiving yards for the Browns. Rudi Johnson had 202 rushing yards and Chad Johnson had 117 receiving yards.
8. In the 51-45 game won by the Browns Derek Anderson had 328 passing yards, Jamal Lewis had 216 rushing yards, Braylon Edwards had 146 receiving yards and Kellen Winslow II had 100 receiving yards for the Browns. Carson Palmer had 401 pass yards and Chad Johnson had 209 receiving yards and Rudi Johnson had 118 rush yards for the Bengals.
9. The 34-0 Browns win was in 1987....and was one of the replacement player games. However, it was the game in which a few regular Browns players had come back before most of the rest of the regular players had come back. Gary Danielson threw 4 TD passes and Ozzie Newsome had over 100 yards receiving. But lest you cry for the Bengals, in the game between the two teams just previous, the Browns won by 34-3. And the Bengals had their full complement of regular players, like Boomer Esiason etc. So, having replacement players play for them only cost them 3 points.

10. The Browns have "pitched" 2 shoutouts vs. the Bengals. The aforementioned 34-0 game and an 18-0 game on 11/21/01.
The Bengals have shut out the Browns 3 times:
21-0 on 12/3/1989
30-0 on 11/26/2006
14-0 on 12/21/2008
11. In all games the Bengals have scored 1691 points, the Browns 1638 points.
So, to break even this week the Browns have to have a 53 point margin of victory in this game.

12. Browns longest losing streak in the series is 5 games, from the second meeting in 2004 plus both game in '05 and '06.
The Browns longest win streak is 7 games from the second meeting in 1992 and including both meeting in 1993, '94 and '95. Bill Belichick had the Bengals number.
In fact, the Bengals didn't actually beat the Browns for 7 years....as there was then the 3 year inactive period for the Browns. The streak was broken by that fucking Akili Smith game in 1999.
(I won 5 bucks at a Reno Casino betting on the Browns to cover in that game. I never cashed it in and still have the ticket as a souvenir)
13. Since the Browns "return" the head to head record is 11-18 in favor of the Bengals.
But, the Browns have won 2 in a row now.
