    Race for #1 Draft Pick:

    1. Jaguars 1-9

    2. Vikings

    Bucs,

    Falcons,

    Texans all 2-8

    6. Redskins 3-7

    7. Bills 4-7

    8. Eight teams tied at 4-6, see above

The Teams in Bold are all likely to be in the hunt for a QB in the draft. As I see it you would slot BridgeovertroubledWater in for the Jags, Mariota in for the Vikings, and Johhny Football in for the Texans....a natural fit in more ways than one.

That would leave the likes of Derek Carr in for the Browns.

The Bucs might be in the game for a QB....but it seems to me they are likely to go elsewhere and stick with Glennon.

Falcons/Redskins/Bills already have their QB. (Ryan/Griffin/Manuel)

Then what about the 4-6 teams?

Unless there really is fire where the Big Ben rumors are, the Steelers are not likely to be out for a QB.

Ravens committed to Flacco. Giants have Eli. Chargers have Rivers. Are Titans locked into Locker? I suspect.

That leaves the only other possible team to be in the hunt for a QB besides those above being The Raiders.

So, it may be that it is the Raiders that the Browns could be in competition for come draft day for the services of say a Derek Carr.

    Fair to say?

Wow. After the giant turd-in-a-bottle of game on sunday, we could move in to the playoff spot this week? Ravens beat Jets - not impossible. Panthers beat dolphins - probable. We beat steelers - possible (downgraded from very likely, on saturday).

That puts barowns, jets, dolphins, ravens all at 5-6. I don't know how that tiebreak would come out. We lost heads up to miami, split the ravens, haven't played the jets yet, but would hold a 3-2 conference record, which might help. Then the following week should be a gimme against the jags.

One thing's for sure - on sunday, we'll either be destined for the playoffs again or the worst team since 1999, given the overreaction. Seriously, we'll probably end up at 6-10 or 7-9, but that's still a better record than anything for a while.

Sunday's game is basically an elimination for either Browns or Steelers. Loser is 4-7 and toast. Winner is 5-6 and very much alive for that last spot.

Winner of that 6th seed gets a trip to Denver. Ouch.

Denver would have a bye in the playoffs probably. More likely they would get a trip to Cincinnati or Indy.

Actually, if the playoffs ended today, these would be the post season seedings and matchups:

    AFC:

    #1 Denver...bye

    #2 Indy....bye (better conf. record)

    #3 Patriots vs. #6 Jets

    #4 Bengals vs. #5 Chiefs

    NFC

    #1 Seattle...bye

    #2 Saints....bye

    #3 Lions vs. #6 49ers

    #4 Eagles vs. #5 Panthers

Edit note: Here the pattern would return of at least 5 teams who had not made playoffs in prior year making it. Chiefs/Jets/Saints/Lions/Eagles/Panthers....none made playoffs last year.

Aufed (those to whom we would say aufweidersehn) from last year would be the Packers, Vikings, Texans, Ravens, Redskins, Falcons. A couple of those still have a chance, but most? No.

How sweet it would be to beat Cinci in the first round. With a blocked punt, INT and fumble returned for TDs and 7 field goals.

Dar. That's right. I was thinking NBA-ish. We'd play at the lowest rated division winner, right?

No, the lowest seeded WC team plays the highest seeded Div. winner that does not receive the bye. In other words, #3 plays #6 and #4 plays #5. Just as I noted above.

Playoffs begin Sunday for the Browns, like Gipper said. If we somehow find a way to beat the suddenly hot Steelers, and beat the Jags,we're 6-6 with 4 to play.

Of course, 3 of the last 4 are on the road, and all are difficult tests (NE, NYJ, Pitt). The Bears are here Dec 15 in what should be a entertaining defensive battle.

I want 10-6, but realistically I think the best we will be is 7-7 heading into the last 2 games. At the start of the season, I think we'd all take that possibility.
