New QB?!?!?

Yeah...that's how you do it!!!!
I read some sarcasm here?
Yeah, just taking what falls to you at the most important position in team sports isn't widely held wisdom.

Hundley's gonna be really polarizing. I have a feeling with our QB situation we'll end up like 6-10, drafting somewhere around 8th. It wouldn't take a ton to move to 6th if we were worried about whoever was 7th.
And while the Hoyer/Hundley plan sounds ideal to me, the Browns may have Carr fever. Manziel looked a little light in the arm to me yesterday and we don't have a very good track record with that in Cleveland winds so I may be stumbling and bumbling off that bandwagon.

Did anyone watch Hundley against Oregon? He was awful. Doesn't show up in big games. Doesn't read presnap and make adjustments.
Then he should fit right in with the Browns

I like how they are disecting how horrible the browns are on NFL Sunday. Lets showcase how horrible the browns are and what they do right for the other team.

After this debacle, I would think that nobody should question
that there should be two new qb's on the Browns roster, to back up
Hoyer.
Seriously. Even if they have to draft two, one early, one later.
Two new qbs who can freakin THINK on the field. dammit.

"To backup Hoyer" ????
You're really ready to go into another season with a "flash in the pan," underdog QB who is a "feel good" kind of guy (Frye, Quinn, Holcolm, McCoy)
He's played 2 games and he's almost 30 years old. He may have earned a chance to compete next year, but I'm ready to see a franchise guy get in there and play...

I personally want hoyer to get a fair shake and not just throw some kid who was SUPPOSED to be good in there because there was some hype. Let him compete, because I think he's the leader the browns have needed so goddamn badly. It ain't Campbell and it certainly isn't Weeden. And hype doesn't equal leadership. Look at bob griffen.

That's not necessarily fair, UCLA as a whole got handled against Oregon. Their offense barely got to function, Hundley was only able to throw 19 passes in that game, and he still completed 13 for a percentage near 70%.
That was just a pure overmatch.
You have to remember, this is a team that were considered 5 point underdogs to Nevada this season. He's doing amazing things on a team that really has no place winning.
He's posted solid numbers against Stanford, USC and Cal for his career. For a redshirt sophomore to average around 70% completion and around 200 yards per game passing and 50 rushing against the top teams in the Pac 12? That's not bad.
I'm more in love with his potential. He's an athletic freak and is talented enough to literally play any position. I mean, he recorded a passing TD, rushing TD, receiving TD and coffin corner punt all in one game. Add to that a polarizing personality and an Econ major at good school, and it's easy to see why some believe he could be the best all around prospect to come out this season.
His first ever college snap was a 78-yard TD run. His second, third, and fourth games were all 300 yard performances, making him the first ever QB to do that for UCLA. His freshman year, he broke single season records for completions, passing yards and total offense, and after one season moved up to second on UCLA's all-time passing touchdown list.
And he hates the NCAA, calling them a "cartel".
I'd be thrilled to get him, which means it's not happening.
Mettenberger, welcome to Cleveland.

no that's not bad BUT those numbers in now way justify moving up to get him. if we pick 8th like someone said above he should be there, but like you said the browns can't do anything right when picking a QB so it'll prob be johnny 'the punk' manziel.

So we are down to only having Weeden. Are the Browns allowed to have an open tryout for the QB position this week? Come one, Come All!!! I will would be willing to give anyone at this point for a try. homeless guy holding the cardboard sign asking for money, all the guys who "coulda, shoulda" " I could've been,.......", our mascot, the guys who were never scouted, my grandfather, my gay sister, anyone but Weeden!!!!!
At lease give us a reason to watch!!
What reason is there to watch for now?

On the issue of "do we need to bring in a QB".....generally a team only has 2 active ones on their game day roster (though they may have a third one on the inactive roster.....though I thought there was an "emergency QB rule". i.e. if your 2 active QBs get knocked out in a game you can bring in the third QB off the inactive list.....but that QB must finish the game. The other 2 are not allowed back in.
Isn't that a rule?
Beyond that, who knows how severe Campbell's concussion is and whether or not he will be able to play next week.
In any event....it may not be a bad idea to bring in another QB....because the two we got suck swamp water in any event.
