Ok, that's like saying I'm going to put you in a boxing ring against another person, but I'm going to handcuff one of your hands to the turnbuckle and spot your opponent 3-4 free haymakers to your dome before your allowed to swing back. By your logic, you'd get your ass kicked, not because you were unable to muster an effective offensive, but because you did too shitty of a job defending yourself, right?
Our defense is not the problem. The D can only do so much when the offense spots the opposing team 3-4 turnovers a game.

Ok, well your point is fucking moot, because we got the ball back with 0:40 left and 3 timeouts, and yet the offense failed to score a winning TD, so even if the D let that last TD by, it was still the O's job to go down the field and score, which they didn't.

With how "good" this defense is, they sure did get sliced in the 4th when it mattered, and weeden did the opposite. He actually played decent the 2nd half and managed drives with decent time of poss. The D let up screens, runs, deep balls, cecil burned Haden twice, not once. Kruger sucks, Robertson is hurt, Jackson isnt fast, ward sucks in coverage. They got exposed by Chad henne dude. CHAD HENNE beat the defense in the 4th qtr. i dont think a d is good when it is beat by Chad Henne with a game winning drive 80 yards after dominating the 3rd qtr. they are INCONSISTENT and are not Top 10. Where was the pass rush....AGAIN....the d is supposedly the identity of the team, its not. It did not come through after the offense came through when the game was on the line. The Jaguars beat the defense today.

Teams know how to move the ball on our defense. Get rid of it quick, screens and deep balls in the redzone we cant cover. The O scored 28 on Jags and didnt win, which means the d couldve played more like they did the 3rd qtr....but they didnt. We scored when they needed a score, but the D got roasted in the 4th. It was pretty embarrassing.
Tackling by the D today was even mediocre. We still need speed badly with our LB core and another good DT. Even the defense still has holes. We are farther away than we thought from being in contention on both sides of the ball

I think a huge part of the defense lately is how miserable the blitz schemes have been. No one has really said this but for the last three weeks it seems like every blitz we send is picked up. Is it the players or a bad defensive call? I'm pretty sure we again didn't have a sack today. I can think of 5-6 times today we sent 6 or more and didn't even pressure Henne. Even someone of his talent is going to find someone open with that type of deal. That has been the biggest issue more than anything else on the defensive side of the ball.
Haden is a top 5 corner in the NFL, shut the hell up about him. He guessed wrong and yes it was a huge play, but he's going to be a pro bowler this year. I don't think we're a 'championship' defense like some pundits say but it's not the Browns problem. It has been and always will be the fact there's been crappy QB's under center. The saints lost their coach and had a historically bad defense last year and still won 7 games.

The Jags D line outplayed ours and got to Weeden to force fumbles.
Haden is a beast, but he doesnt trust his instincts and overthinks routes sometimes, thats how he has gotten beat this year. Taking himself out of position because he thinks instead of reacts. Only sometimes tho, hes def a pro bowler.

Browns need to learn how to close a game out. They have talent but lack in confidence. The players on this team having been on winning teams, for the most part, from Pop Warner through college. They don't know to emotionally deal with the heavy dose of defeat they have experienced while playing for the Browns. Might be time to bring in Tony Robbins

D shouldn't be put in all those situations... They played all game with their backs against the wall, and did an admirable job. 32 minus the 15 to 18 the offense gave up and you're looking at 14-17 points on the D which is plenty good enough. Sure, Haden got beat again, and that sucks, but look at his season and the WRs he has been covering. He deserves all the credit in the world for the season he is having, despite 2 bad plays.
If you want to point the finger, point it at the entire offense except Gordon, Thomas, Schwartz and just for today McGahee... The rest of the offense stunk... Especially Weeden, despite his half-way decent 2nd half...

This is it..Amen brother...Ray Horton comes across as a carpet bagger much like Rob Ryan without the obnoxious schtick. His defense today in My view is a big part of why we ultimately lost...every good DB has a bad game and Haden had 2 in a row..Still a very good corner but not in the Dixon/Minnifield class yet...While Wheezy gave the ball away...He also played a decent 2nd half..This falls squarelly on Wheezy and our overrated defense..We let a crap team bully us at the end. Weeden and Greg Little should be cut like NOW!

What concerns me about Horton's D- is what happened to the getting to the quarterback? We had a ton of sacks earlier in the year, are we telegraphing our blitzes?
Regarding Wee-Done, he should have been cut yesterday. His occasional nice plays hardly make up for the 2-3 game killing boneheaded ones.
But regarding Little- he made a terrific catch for that TD on an (as usual) misguided Weeden missile. The ball was behind him.
