Draft Order

The Browns Board
22 15 989
  • Right now, the Browns would be picking 4th and 25th. That obviously could change if they win or if others of the current 4 win teams win/lose.

The later round pick could also change...depending how far the Colts go in the playoffs.

    http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2013/12/23/5237584/2014-nfl-draft-order

This mock has QBs going in 3 of the top 5 slots. Bridgewater/Bortles/Carr to the Browns.

It also has them taking a Corner from Oregon with that #25 pick. Maybe.

  • I've seen a lot of mocks that have us going QB/WR with the first rounders. Wouldn't be distraught with that, as long as we get the right guys.

  • I wanna know how smart those qb prospect are. I only want a qb to be taken with that 1st pick if he can read defense's. Or at least have the future potential to do so. Anyone else is just a waste at the first pick. If there isn't that guy in the draft and the coaching staff figures it out from interviewing and testing him.....fuck take the BPA. If Clowney's still there take him. He won't be cause the Texans aren't stupid, but if the QB we want is gone and Clowney is gone...trade it down.

  • A skill position player taken in the top 5 should be great. Not pretty damn good not okay but great.

If the best we can hope for is the third best quarterback crap shoot in a weak draft then take best player available by all means. Maybe wait for AJ McCarron. After all every player is a roll of the dice but there's a much better chance of getting really good ones in other positions than quarterback. Which will make whatever quarterback we start work better.

  • Only problem is the current morons in charge of player evaluation are just that, morons.

This may be the one thing that's impossible to scout. Coaches will never tell you the truth about it. All you can really do is go off their wonderlic and if they seem intelligent in the interviews.

Not true. I trust this personnel department more than any we've had. I don't dislike any move they've made. Damn at least give them till next season since this offseason is what they were aiming for.
  • what move did they make that indicates they have a clue, draft was a complete failure, FA was a complete failure, DC was a complete failure, someone up there indicated they never would have drafted Josh Gordon, if that is the case we will never get anyone good on this team. They have no clue. Even a bad coach can win more than one game out of 10. A good coach takes a 2 win team(KC) and puts them in the playoffs in one season. I expect they will be 1 and done but they got there. We will never see 5 wins until these clowns are gone.

Sorry. I do NOT trust the player evaluation skills of Mike Lombardi. He has a track record of putridness when selecting players.

Now, maybe his right hand man, I believe Ray Farmer is his name, could be a lot better and may have a lot more input than we know....so there may be some hope there.

Lombardi criticized taking Gordon I believe when he was an NFL network analysist.

  • Last years draft was unspectacular to say the least, and that's being extremely kind. If we repeat that with next years draft, then we will remain the butt of jokes for years to come.

    ^^^Im 100% on board with this^^^

I don't see value with any of the qb's this year with the 5th or so pick. take BPA even if its not a position of need. We have holes to plug on both sides of the ball, start filling.

I think you have to scout how they perform when they are under the most pressure, either in terms of a pass rush, or in big games, or when the team is down by one score with two minutes left to play. This is why I say no to Carr and yes to Bridgewater.

Browns fans sure love hyperbole. First, Thet fleeced the Colts when they traded Richardson, and they signed Hoyer which looks like a good move. Bryant did well until his heart issues cropped up. The FA signings were disappointing, yes, but not a complete failure. Kruger is still among league leaders in QB hurries. I don't think we can judge this FO staff until we see how the team does next year.

  • Don't feel like reading through all the posts so someone might have already said it but if the Jags win and we lose then we move to the #3 spot in the draft. That is one less spot to worry about someone taking a QB in front of us.

and why take a QB that high in the draft if he is a shot in the dark?

if we had 2-3 great defensive picks (LB, #2 CB and LB....move to whatever position) we could have a serious top 5 defense that would finish the defense and make us wordly for years to come.

the fact that people want to pick at a little bit of stuffing, then grab a turkey thigh and then maybe sop up a biscuit with gravy is ridiculous. FINISH OFF THE FUCKING DEFENSE ALREADY. jesus h. christ on a crutch!

then you can get your WR, your QB (yeah it might be 3rd round but do you really believe in any of these guys?) 2 OLmen and a couple of RBs/FBs.

everyone is so blinded by this so-called 'best QB draft since the era of marino' (which is totally bullshit) that GMs are going to over spend on a dud and waste valuable draft picks in doing so.

name me one guy at the QB position coming out this season that is worth the #4 or 5 pick that is guaranteed to become our franchise QB?

you can't do it. but lomardass will find a way to blow 3 picks to move up and get the next RGbust.

  • I'm voting yes to Carr, Merry Christmas BTW.. 🙂

One out of 10? Tell that to Kubiak, who had a pretty decent team to coach. Yeah dipwad- Reid was such a great coach he led the Eagles to a 4-12 record in Philly- which is why he got fired. He managed to waltz into an ideal situation in KC.

Fortunately I think everyone stopped calling it the best QB draft since whenever when Mariotta decided to return to college. I think 2015, with Hundley, Mariotta, etc will end up being better. I still like Teddy B and think he is worthy of 4 pick but he won't be there.

I'm hoping that Chud and Turner have more influence over who we draft at QB, and I have a feeling Banner is going to keep Lombardi in check with, Banner seems like a control freak and it seems he is the one who pulled off the T Rich trade, not Lombardi.

Get a QB. Everything else is secondary.
