    That's a good start.

  • Spikes is still young.

Since we are moving into the offseason without a coach or QB. Let us entertain ourselves. With all of Draft Picks this year and our 20M cap, what would you do. There are plenty of Draft threads and talk so lets leave that our of it but keep it in mind we already drafted and plugged some holes. What are your top priorities in FA and the current roster?

Here is a list of FA's.

    http://nfltraderumors.co/2014-nfl-free-agents/

Here is my stab at it.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Resign Mack, Haden, Greco

Resign TJ if we can't get a better FA pick-up.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let all our FA's walk and test the market.

Release the following Bess, Little, Weeden (or restructure contract for peanuts), Carder, Cousins, Lavou.

FA targets for me would be

    No QB FA

RB - McFadden, john Kuhn, Brandon Jacobs.

WR - Golden Tate, Hakeem Nicks

    OL- Jarek Veldheer, Jon Asamoah

LB - Brandon Spikes, Brian Orakpo

    CB- Verner, Talib, Brent Grimes

    S- Byrd, Brandon Meriweather

    These are TARGETS.

I think with the roster we have FA pick ups from above and the Draft we should have a bad ass roster.

Injury prone Mcfadden and Brandon Jacobs (Mcginnis 1.25) ? That's why we're fans and not in the FO.

    I wondered the same thing.

    Mike

  • What would you do? Tate? probably staying in houston with new coach. Will demand too much? Everyone has been complaining about our run game for the last 3 years. Just draft a RB?

  • By no means I am saying we need to sign a FA RB, just looking for a good 3rd down back for low cost to help the team

  • I'd be happy with Talib - if he can play the way he has this year, opposite Haden they'd be unstoppable.

Re-sign Ward, Mack (I doubt we can attract better, since there aren't many better around) and give an extension to Haden as well.

If we can pick up an OG that can run block then great.

On top of that, probably draft a WR high, either 25 or 36; draft an OG with the other one of those two probably; get an RB in the 3rd as well as an ILB. Top pick on BPA - if clowney's there you have to take him. Otherwise it's probably a QB to compete with Hoyer.

  • Sammy Wadkins with our 4th, best availabe at our next 1st, 2nd round would be ..Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, 6-3, 222 eastern illinois

    resign mack, ward...tbc

  • Own FA/Roster Moves:

    • Resign Ward and Mack
    • Resign Joe Haden -- Probably would give the Browns an addition $1 to $2 million for this years FA
    • Restructure Jackson
    • Cut Ahtyba Rubin -- Savings of close to $7 Million in Cap Space (Winn, Hughes, Bryant, and Bryant pick up the slack)

    Scheme:

    • Offensive - Predominantly Two TE, Shotgun Sets, Flex Cameron out into the slot often
    • Defensive - Keep the 3-4 and bring in Wade Phillips as DC
    • Special Teams - Get a guy to teach basics, also tell the FO to stop tinkering with end of the roster which kills ST continuity... Also just put Benjamin back at KR, he has shown flashes and the offense rarely uses him

    Free Agency:

Sign Jon Asamoah, RG, from the Kansas City Chiefs

Sign Eric Decker, WR, from the Denver Broncos

Sign John Kuhn, FB, from the Green Bay Packers

Sign Joe Mays, ILB, from the Houston Texans

    Draft:

    1A - QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M

1B - CB Justin Gilbert, Oklahoma State

    2A - TE Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, Washington

Trade 3A and 4B up about 15 to 20 spots to secure an ILB

2B - ILB Shane Skov, Stanford

3B - OT JaWuan James, Tennessee

4A - RB Terrance West, Towson

5 - WR Josh Huff, Oregon

    6 - S Nickoe Whitley, Mississippi State

7 - QB Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech

    2014 Depth Chart:

    QB - Manziel, Hoyer, Thomas

    RB - Lewis, West, Baker

    FB - Kuhn, Gray

    WR1 - Gordon, Little, Huff

    WR2 - Decker, Benjamin

Slot (when no TE) - Huff, Cooper

    TE1 - Cameron, Gray

    TE2 - Sefarian-Jenkins, Barnidge

    LT - Thomas, Fragel

    LG - Pinkston, Greco

    C - Mack, Greco

    RG - Asamoah, Gilkey

    RT - Schwartz, James, Faulk

    RDE - D. Bryant, Hughes

    DT - Taylor, Kitchen, Hughes

    LDE - Winn, A. Bryant

    OLB - Sheard, Mingo

    ILB - Jackson, Mays

    ILB - Skov, Robertson

    OLB - Kruger, Groves

    CB1 - Haden

    CB2 - Gilbert

    Nickel - Skrine

    Dime/Safety Mix - McFadden

    FS - Gipson, Aubrey

    SS - Ward, Poyer

  • Not bad and realistic.

  • Kuhn would be a good FA pick up

you would take gilbert over Dennard at CB or are you presuming that Dennard would already be off the board?

  • I would opt to get a CB in FA this year.

  • Sign Derek Anderson, Seneca Wallace and Colt McCoy to compete with Hoyer for the starting spot.

  • IF my last name was Lombardi (which it isn't), I would ask Banner to FIRE my sorry ass & get a REAL GM in here!

Dennard probably wouldn't be there at that point in the draft so I would go with Gilbert since his size is better than Verrett or Joyner.... Roby may be another option since Ekpre-Olomu is staying and that may cause Gilbert to rise.

The defense is largely the same as this year but I hope the D-Coordinator can change results. This D was an anomaly with a bunch of weird conflicting statistics, which I predicted the combo of Gilbert and Skov/Mays (rotation) could change.

  • I'm holding out for a longer contract than one day...

  • Fire Banner and Lametardi of course then replace him with Kevin Costner..tie up Haslam and dont let him within 30 feet of any exxisting microphone...or camera for that matter.

  • okay lets say Haslem fires people and hires you. what kind of damage control would you do?
