Gary Kubiak

The Browns Board

  • Kubiak is the best coach available and seems like the perfect guy to turn this team around. When he inherited the Texans, they had never had a winning record. He turned them into constant contenders and maximized the production of a mediocre QB.

During his tenure as head coach of the Texans, his team has had a losing record 3 times. One was his first year as a head coach, and this last season are both excusable in my eyes. His team has lost tons of talent over the last few seasons. Mario Williams, Connor Barwin, Demeco Ryans, and the starting center and right tackle were left in free agency. They also were hit by the injury bug with Foster, Schuab, Tate, Daniels, and Cushings.

I think his zone blocking scheme will fit our personnel well and could get the most out the talent of our weakest positions like QB, RB, and the offensive line. Plus we already have a strong core of players in Gordon, Cameron, Thomas, and Mack if he resigns with us.

Unfortunately, I have no faith in this front office to do the right thing. Kubiak isn't butt buddies with Lombardi, Banner, or Haslam so we will probably sign a New England castoff as our next coach and keep this cycle of suck going.

  • I don't think the Browns will even interview him. It makes too much sense

  • The guy almost died on the field coaching the Texans.

He'd be dead before October with the Browns.

    funny but true.

the dude needs to step away from the game for a year and reevaluate his life and what his family means to me.

being that stressed means he considered his job very seriously and prob slept at their facilities half the time.

hell i'm surprised parcells lasted as long as he did. stress is a killer. that's why they make meds like cuervo and valium.

Kubiak? Ummmmmm... no... there was just something missing there... in the HC, not the team. Houston spent the last three years being "one player away" from a Super Bowl win. It got old... Houston fans thought the team's 2010 collapse was unbearable until 2013's came along.

On the talent point... Nearly every player you named was replaced by a player of equal or greater skill... and most were Cap casualties.

    - JJ Watt for Super Mario... 'nuff said.

    - Barwin had one great year in 2011, but did not follow it up in 2012 and so was expendable; If Mercillus can return to form even the 2011 Barwin will not be missed.

    - Ryan was a great and much loved in Houston from his 2006 rookie season until he was injured in 2010. When he returned to the starting line up in 2011 he simply was not the same player... and so was let go. In 2013 both Sharpton and Mays both posted numbers better the Ryan's 2011 effort. No one is happier to see Demeco back in form in Philly than Houston's fans.

I'm sure I do not have to tell a Browns board poster about injuries...

With the right, one-cut back the Browns O-line might be amenable to Kub's Zone blocking scheme, but in 2013 they were much better in traditional drive, trap and pull roles.

I could see him as OC. I do think he has magic when it comes to coaching up QBs... but I do not see him as our next HC.
