Merchandising sales are a reflection of how popular teams are.....and popularity is determined by how much winning a team does.
In the Browns case their merchandising sales are not a reflection of their color scheme.....but of their shitty record over many years now.

Cowboys have won 5 Super Bowls and been in 8. Redskins have won 3 and been in 5. Same with Raiders. (and Raiders sell gear to gangs).
Maybe we should just start having the crips and bloods go to liking Orange and Brown.

The mere fact that this subject is always brought up could only mean there exists much discontent from Browns fans over the uniform. As if other teams fans are whining about their uniforms.
Black is the answer. Imagine black and brown.
A black and brown uniform would be badass. Except for some very discrete trim, lose the orange, otherwise, black and orange looks Holloween..see the bengals.
I even heard Brian Brennan refer to his former team as "pumpkin heads"...in an affectionate way of course.

wow you are delusional. i've never said any of those things.
first off, the idea of an elf/brownie logo to be used for a football team's identity is plain gay. i get the paul brown i.e. 'brownies' idea but it looks disneyesque and was done in era were i'm sure someone thought it was cute. this isn't wendy from wendy's. it just doesn't work.
if you want a logo that would be used for merchandising (not for the helmet) then someone should come up with an idea that is iconic for cleveland. half the stuff i have (hats jerseys etc.) just have a simple B embroidered on it or 'the cleveland browns' in script or a dog with a helmet on it..
if the FO was serious about having a logo done they should let the fans decide and send in their ideas like the ravens did when modell took the browns to baltimore. and that too is an abomination.
there is a lot of talented artists in cleveland. i've outsourced plenty of work to shops there, because i believe in supporting my home state and the hometown of my favorite team(s).

I would like to keep an open mind to the idea of changing things around, I will admit if/when the browns win a championship it would be that much more awesome for that plain orange helmet to get raised up in celebration...

I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to love the elf too. I was trying to find a picture of that 20 foot high elf that used to adorn the outside of old Municipal Stadium, but failed. BTW, many of us oldtimers believe the downward spiral of the Browns in the late 60s was in part due to Modell mothballing the Elf. He may be gay, but he's good Karma.
Now that Keebler incarnation they brought back this year does need some toughening up.

Not that impressed with what they have. Only decent one is the B in the Bullseye. But that is not as good as the one we already have, the B in the football.

Really? I like the one with the bulldog or bulldawg as it were. It's been our unofficial mascot for so long that I wouldn't mind incorporating it a little more. NOT on the helmets.
