Desean Jackson

Sign him.... It opens up huge possibilities for this draft. With Jackson, it frees up our first four picks to go upgrade QB, OG/OT, ILB, and CB. With Jackson and one of the top QBs this team would have a strong chance at the playoffs (with creative play calling, of course)
Sign Jackson
Draft
1A) Johnny Manziel
1B) Xavier Sua-Filo
2) Bradley Roby
Trade 3A and 3B
2B) Chris Borland
4A) De'Anthony Thomas
On 3rd downs, trot out a weapons lineup of Gordon, Jackson, Hawkins, Cameron, and Thomas. The defense would not be able to key in.

I don't necessarily want us to blow up the team. I'm just saying that either Rubin or Sheard will be gone, and it will likely be Rubin. If we end up going with Mack in this draft, then it could be Sheard as well.
Here's what I think about DJax:

I don't give a shit about DeSean's gang ties. They're the same gang ties he had when he entered the league. They're the same gang ties he had last year when he got 1,400 yards and 9 TD's. They're the same gang ties he had in 2009 when he got 1,200 yards and 9 TD's. Nobody was complaining then, it's only now that people seem to have a problem.
The guy is still a 3 time Pro Bowler. We don't have one of those.
And...he has less suspensions than both Gordon and Haden. Hm.

not yet. gordon in 2 years will be a 3 time pro bowler.

Looks like he might not leave D.C.
DeSean Jackson had a flight this evening he didn't get on. He has stayed in DC tonight per sources. #Redskins
My bet is he signs with the skins. I wouldn't mind him, but with this supposedly deep receiver class he's probably not worth it for the price.
Filling a need is always good though.

TCPO....geez man....for someone who acts like they know something, you can't even get a very obvious fact correct.
But I guess, semantically, you were correct. We don't have a 3 time pro bowler (as if the popularity bowl actually means something). We have a 7 time pro bowler....
Makes one wonder about all the other bullshit you run on about.
I guess I missed the part where Joe Thomas was moved to WR.TCPO....geez man....for someone who acts like they know something, you can't even get a very obvious fact correct.

Did that happen over the last couple weeks?
The conversation is about WR's.
I should have specified, you're right. I just assumed it was obvious, given the fact that DeSean Jackson is a WR, not a LT.

i don't care about the gang shit either until you have 2 people of equal talent and you put their files on a table in front of you and say "ok, we have an upstanding college athlete in Subject A who we can draft at a fraction of the cost with nothing but accolades from his coaches to his teacher to his preacher and has all the capabilities of being better than subject B who yes, is already proven, been to pro bowls but does still have ties (friends) who are less than desirable who he still has contact with and wants matthew stafford money.
i'm sure all those hell no people would be just fine getting on the train the FIRST week when we keep watkins wearing orange. sure we got holes to fill just like other teams but you don't see them jumping out the window to sign this guy. if we didn't sign anyone else in FA i'd be fine. build through the draft.

That's all well and good, and I agree with that.
But put those two files down on a table and there's equal talent across the board: one can be had without the cost of a draft pick, the other not so much.
I think it's rather obvious that we're taking a QB in this draft. When, that's less obvious. But the fact remains that we will be taking one. So why decrease your spending potential in the draft when a similarly talented player (who's proven he can perform in the NFL, something Watkins hasn't done yet) can be had through FA?
Watkins was arrested on drug charges, so it's not like he's a Boy Scout either. Granted, it was only marijuana, but people were obviously against it when it was Gordon who was caught.
The money shouldn't matter, we have more than enough space for the foreseeable future. Why not take on a large contract now, when we have the space and a handful of relatively small contracts? It's much better than taking on a mega contract in 4 years whenever Watkins rookie contract is up and we're in the middle of Haden's and Cameron's contract, the end of Thomas', and we had just resigned Mingo. Not to mention the rest of the 2014 rookies that will be looking for new contracts.
Also, can we hold off on calling Hawkins a similar talent to Jackson? The guy is a UDFA who played two years in Canada and has never gotten more than 600 yards in a season in the NFL. I'm excited as well, but come on.
The moment a guy signs with Cleveland it's like he's a perennial Pro Bowler.

When Djac scores 2TDs in the home opener with a 60 yard+ in there, all these hell no people will jump to the train and LOVE him come game 2.

Yup, all those 'Skins fans gonna love him.

Regarding Rubin, ever hear of restructuring? It will be interesting to see what kind of contract Washington is giving Jackson. BTW, at 5'10, 180 Desean has only played all 16 games 2 out of his 6 years in the league- I wonder why. Watkins has 3" and 30 pounds on him- Evans is 7" taller and 50 pounds heavier. Neither will cost anywhere near what Jackson got. He'd have been a damn expensive #2, and I doubt he would have been happy playing second fiddle to Gordon. You're worried 4 years down the road? Cross that bridge when we come to it TC. And yeah, I know about Watkins getting caught for weed.

Yippie. Man, this board loves them every FA possibility that comes down the pike- whether they're a good fit or not.

It is a rare case whwn a team is established and successful enough and the coaching staff and locker room stable enough to be able to steer a locker room cancer in the right direction.
I would think it would set a bad precedent in a developing team.
Bill Belichick had the strength to make Randy Moss tow the line but...
