The Browns Board

  • Here are this week's Survey Questions. Give your opinion:

    1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?
As soon as he earns the job.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?
Anyone but the Heat... for the obvious reason

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?
Once the Flyers are eliminated, I no longer care. My best friend in college was from Philly area. I saw a few Broad Street bully games with he and his family.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?
As in most "deep" drafts with relatively few "stars", I thought this year's theme was the rich getting richer. Most noteworthy of these was SF. Of the other teams the Ram's draft stands out.
Don't know the FA results as well, but aside from the clear standout, Denver, it seems like most teams more or less treaded water, replacing pieces they lost.

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)
While I, too, was offended by the Cesar Romero slight, I have to go with Ledger...

  • 1. Whenever the coaching staff decides he should be the starter

    2. Spurs. If not them, Pacers. Fuck the Heat.

    3. LA Kings all the way. Been a fan for a long time (before Gretzky even).

    4. who cares

    5. Cesar Romero

  • 1.) Once the coaches feel like the playbook has been learned and also once they bulk him up a bit.

2.) Spurs, Greg Popovich is my favorite coach, I am friendly with Kawhi Leonard's grandfather and I hate the Miami Heat more than any team in professional sports.

3.) I don't watch Hockey but the Kings and Blackhawks have nice unis so either one of them.

4.) The Niners had a great draft but Colin Kaepernick will never get them over the hump because he doesn't strike me as a cerebral quarterback so he will be the only reason they can't dominate. I really thought that the Green Bay Packers had a nice solid draft and got some nice new weapons for Rodgers as well as some well needed help on defense, so I think they helped themselves a lot. The Raiders set themselves up for the future and under Reggie McKenzie they will no longer be the butt of all jokes.

With all that said my preciction for the NFC Championship Game will be the Philadelphia Eagles vs the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Saints advance. The AFC Championship Game I have the Denver Broncos vs The New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium with the Patriots advancing. This will leave the Super Bowl matchup between the New England Patriots vs the New Orleans Saints and the Saints taking it all.

    5.) Good question, I think it's a tie.

  • We need Cesar Romero to take this on a write-in campaign. No big studio movie effects for him. He dominated every episode he was in with the gay duo.

As did Frank Gorshin as The Riddler and Burgess Meredith as The Penguin...

  • 1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?

    Whenever he wins the job.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

Spurs. Don't like the Heat or the Thunder, indifferent on the Pacers.

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

    Blackhawks.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

    can't think of any

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

    Ceasar Romero

  • 1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?

When he earns the job. If he beats out Hoyer before week one so be it.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

    Thunder or Spurs.

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

    GO KINGS!!! Big Kings fan.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

    Rams have upgraded a lot.

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

    Ledger

  • 1) Whenever he is ready but at least after the bye.

    2) The Thunder and fuck y'all for picking anyone else. If that Collision-Adams front line plays like it did when Ibaka went out, we can't be stopped. Well except by Brooks' dumb ass.

    3) Let's give this one to the Canadians so the Canadiens.

    4) I'll go with the Rams.

    5) The part did kind of kill the guy so I'll have to go with Ledger.

  • 1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?

Obvious answer is "as soon as he wins the job." My prediction is before the 3rd preseason game. Let me just say this... if he doesn't win the job, then we made a mistake drafting him. If he can't beat out Brian "Career 3rd string QB" Hoyer , and he's supposed to be our future "franchise QB" then we're in trouble...

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

The Spurs. They have been dominant for the past decade and I think one more will cement their legacy. I've never been a fan, but I like to see greatness.

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

    Don't watch hockey...

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

Vastly improved? The Eagles did quite a bit to help themselves, but the Rams stand out as "vastly" improving.

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

Heath Ledger. Much more evil, and played one of the best villains I've seen.

As soon as he is knows the offense, if thats game 1, game 1. My guess is week 4.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

    Hate basketball

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

Hockey looks like fun, but its not something I know anything about.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

Houston Texans: I thought they had a great draft. Their first three players were all considered possible first round picks. Not to mention Clowney (to me) could end of being the best defensive lineman EVER.

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

Heath Ledger no doubt, but Jack was really good!

Here are this week's Survey Questions. Give your opinion:

    1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?

When he's ready, which depends entirely on his development, ability to absorb the playbook and understand the line calls he needs to make that he didn't at college.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

    Don't care

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

    Really don't care

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

    Oakland...until yesterday.

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

    Heath Ledger

  • 1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?

He will pick up the playbook fairly fast since he spent a year running the scout team with Mike Sherman's Pro offense. Still he needs to clearly outshine everyone else from day 1.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

Pacers for a change-#2 anyone but the Heat.

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

We don't even see rain down here anymore let alone snow or Ice. Don't care.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly improved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

    Rams, 49ers, Jags and Bucs

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

    Ledger

  • 1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?

Simple to me really. The moment the coaching staff decides he's clearly better than Hoyer AND ready to start the NFL.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

Don't watch much basketball at all. The Cavaliers is the extent of it for me. Maybe a boring answer but it's my go-to: The one with the longest championship drought. Thunder, or Pacers? And for obvious reasons, just NO to Heat.

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

Rangers. Mainly because of J.T. Miller, as I went to high school with his parents. Just NO to Kings.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

Just didn't pay close enough attention honestly. Too enamoured with the Browns draft. I think the Raiders for one because they had no where else to go but improvment.

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

Both are great, but Ledger as the truly disturbed Joker wins out.

  • Jack Nicholson was the campy absurd Joker from the comic books. He was more funny than scary but Nicholson still did a great job at being sadistic while still having the ability to make you laugh. "You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses would ya?"

Heath Ledger was an updated joker, one that dealt more with present day fears, he was a terrorist, a freelance gangster and basically an agent of chaos to spread through Gotham, this joker was not close to the comic book version at all, but sustained its own life force through Ledgers acting and Nolan's script for the character. Hes a scary dude that is only a symbol of a belief, like Batman.

Ledger has the better written and more disturbing character, but Nicholson is the better joker of the comic books, so its a good medium we find in between the two portrayals, they each have their own strengths.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why? Spurs - they drafted/developed their "big three".

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why? Blackhawks, it is fun to head to the bar and see a team whose city I live in win. Unless I lived in Pittsburgh...wait- I'd never live in Pittsburgh.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups? I really like what the Rams are doing on defense, Arizona too- is there a better division than the NFC WEST?

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?) Mark Hammel (yeah from Star Wars) who is the voice of the Joker on the Batman: the animated series cartoon series - he nails it.

I'll accept that answer. Well done.

  • 1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?

-I would almost guarantee Manziel starts coming off the early bye. That gives the FO enough time to prove the 'plan to be a back-up' mantra and lays to rest the Hoyer not getting a shot crowd. But hey, if Hoyer starts 3-0 JF can ride the pine for all I care, but I don't see that happening.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

-Anyone but the Heat, but if I had to pick the Thunder. KD seems like a genuine dude and is too elite a player to never get a ring.

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

-Man, I've been trying to get into but it's just hard to do.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

-Definitely the Rams barring a healthy Bradford. When he goes down again though the Rams are in a good position to get a top guy next year.

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

-It really depends how you see the Joker character. Early comic adaptions had the Joker as more a wonky villian with a darkside which Nicholsan pulled off. Newer adaptations have him as a very dark, disturbed person which Ledger obviously pulled off. If I had to say though I'd go Ledger because he dove so deeply into that character role. Still don't believe that's what caused him to commit suicide though.

    My own answers:

    1. Johnny Football. How soon should he be named the starter?

I guess I have to give the pat....but very accurate answer that everyone has given: when he is ready and has proven he is capable of being the starter. That could be game 1 this year or game 1 two years from now.

    2. Who would you like to see win the NBA playoffs: Heat, Pacers, Spurs, Thunder and why?

This is my preferred order: Thunder, Pacers, Spurs, Heat. Thunder because OK City has never won a championship in any sport, so why not let them have a moment in the sun. Pacers next because they have not won since the days of the ABA. The other two have won recently...so the hell with them and their fan bases.

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

My preferred order: Canadiennes, Rangers, Kings, Blackhawks. Canadiennes are from Canada and no team from Canada has won since this same team from Montreal won in 1992. Rangers have also gone a while, 20 years.. Kings and Blackhawks have won like the last 3 Cups in a row...so they had their day. Let someone else have it. (but things don't look good for Montreal, now down 0-2 to NY after last night)

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

In watching the draft I kept thinking "Damn, the 49ers just picked up another good player". And yes, the Rams by virtue of their many high picks seemed to do well. And the Steelers also kept taking guys I like and thought the Browns could use: Shazier, Martavious Bryant. Now of course I hope those guys suck swamp water.

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

This is unbelievably difficult because both guys nailed this character in their own inimicable way. The only way to decide is to have Two Face come in and flip his coin.

Pacers. because I lived in Muncie Indiana for a little bit.

    3. Who would you like to see win the NHL playoffs: Rangers, Canadiennes, Blackhawks, Kings and why?

the Montreal Canadiens. Because they are the only Canadian team on the list.

    4. Is there any other NFL team besides the Browns that you think vastly impoved themselves with their draft and FA pickups?

    Yes. 😉

    5. Who is the best Joker? Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson (or someone else?)

Tie. I love Nicholson's over the top antics and I also loved Heath Ledger's dark insanity.
