  • Seems that some of our Rivals on this boards (douche nozzle, vagina tron, etc.) have forgotten our deep history with each other. And for all our Newbies.

    Our division is like this.

Steelers - you are just hated lol.. our teams have had a hatred for each other

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BrownsSteelers_rivalry

Bengals - You guys looked like a carbon copy of the browns Uniforms/coach and all when you guys started.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BengalsBrowns_rivalry

Ravens - stolen team by Modell to Baltimore and changed the team name to the Ravens and it begins

You mean accuracy as in each of the teams in the division owning the browns? Accuracy has nothing to do with it... the dudes got an inferiority complex.

Steeler fans dont hate the browns, they hate the old browns.. aka the Ravens.

They laugh at the browns just like everyone else.

The Steelers browns rivalry has become like the rivalry a bug has with a windshield.

Not only did Modell steal the team, he stole the rivalry.

Hopefully under this umpteenth new regime, the browns will someday be right up there with the big boys of the division and be relevant once again.

Yes, it was convenient Modell took away our Browns when we were up 12 games in the all-time series, only to have you guys come back and beat up on an expansion team that was led by a shotty owner who didn't give a shi* about this team. The only people who have cared about this team since 1999 are the fans.

Well... now we have an owner that will literally "do anything" to win... I mean look at his company, he's not afraid to do what is necessary to win. I truly believe in Haslam and think he will make us relevant very soon. I think our current FO knows what they need to do to "win now." We will be relevant this year, while continuing to search for our franchise QB who will lead this team back to the top of the division... where we belong... And, if we already found our franchise QB (JFF), look out...

  • The one downside with the Browns-Steelers rivalry is that neither team has had a stretch of time when they were BOTH dominant...at the same time that is.

Cleveland and Pittsburgh have both had awesome years but it has always been the case of one team owning a decade while the other one sucks:

    1950's: Browns dominant

    1960's: Browns

    1970's: Steelers

    1980's: Browns

    1990's: Steelers

    2000's: Steelers

    2010's: still being written...

The biggest reason the Browns can "return to prominence" is not Manziel, Josh Gordon etc...it's Haslem, an owner who cares! Ownership is THE single biggest reason for success or failure in major North American professional sports leagues.

Trust me, I should know. . . I'm a Pirates fan for cryin' out loud.

  • want to watch hard nosed fought games between both teams.. ones that the whole nation wants to watch a good game

No, there are also the 20s....when NEOhio teams won 4 titles. The 40s, won 5 titles. The 50s, 3 more titles. The 60s, won one championship game, lost another, lost 2 more "NFC" title games.

Actually, the entire history of pro football is entwined with NEOhio. (let's see, now...where is the HOF located).

Up until the Lerner ownership era the Browns had one of the top 5 winning percentages of all NFL teams.

It has just been since 1999 really that this team has had such a bad time.

OK, I agree, there is a lot of truth to that......but as much as we might like to we can't put the Browns ineptitude since 1999 on Modell's back. The Lerner's and their minions get to bear that Burden.

Hopefully under this umpteenth new regime, the browns will someday be right up there with the big boys of the division and be relevant once again.

Yes, hopefully....though the Browns overall talent right now is actually as good as any team in the division.....save perhaps for that one most important position: QB. That plus that intangible ability to win when you do have comparable talent. That is lacking....and is perhaps the hardest thing to obtain.

This is all correct....except perhaps the 90s, where for the first part of the decade the teams were pretty even. They split wins from 1990-1993, and again in 1999. In the 1995 turmoil/move year they won both games....but hell, that made your edge no better than any other team in

the league. It was only 1994...when the Browns actually made the playoffs and were good...but lost both games and the playoff game, that the Steelers had their edge that year.

And, of course, no games were played for 3 years.

Don't totally agree with this...if you're saying the browns "owned" the Steelers during the 80's.

The browns had an edge, thats all. Other than the Steelers sweeping the browns in '81, the series split each year until '86 when the browns swept the Steelers that year and the two following years. The browns ended up 4 games better...12-8 vs. the Steelers.. and that was only because of their dominance for 3 consecutive yrs...not the entire decade.

As far as sucking in the 80's...the Steelers left that decade slightly above a .500 team while making the playoffs 4 times. Yes, that is sucking by Steeler standards, but would be considered a great achievement/improvement if the browns could mimic that feat.

Unless you are an old man, the typical brown fan has not witnesses their teams dominance over the Steelers for a full decade in their lifetime.

As far as the 2010's, yes it still has to be written but the Steelers have a commanding edge thus far 7-1.

A notable...the Steelers pre-1970 were the worst franchise in history for 35 or so years. Post 1970 after the formation of the new league until now (40+ yrs.), the Steelers are the winningest team in football.

Only 9 losing seasons since 1970 is phenominal...don't care who the fuck you are.

  • Again... it's just where you draw the lines to support your argument.

Well the 90's and any other decade was whoever had the edge. Some decades were evenly matched, others were lopsided, it all just depends...

I guess you want to be Captain obvious by pointing out that the Browns have sucked the last 15 years. Lets just point out that the Steelers have been nor more dominant over the Browns in that period than any other team in the league. I mean, the Browns have about as bad a record against the Jaguars as they do against the Steelers. So don't think you are anything special. I think the Ravens have about the same record vs. the Browns.

Everyone called the AFCN a tough division during the 2000's/early 2010's. But really it wasn't. The Steelers only had one division rival to really contend with and that was the Ravens. (With maybe 1 or 2 seasons where the Bengals may have won out but went nowhere in the postseason.)

Perhaps the Steelers fans should thank the Browns for contributing to their more recent years of success? 😉
