  • Groves missed time in two different chunks didn't he? At any rate 5 games 2 sacks 1 FF and 4 tackles is not exactly the line of an impact player.

    We added a LB in the draft and signed Grant a couple weeks ago so someone was going to go. Groves has been with 4 teams in 6 years. Some team will be the 5th to sign him before too long.

  • Yeah, he wasn't a great player by any stretch and was primarily brought in for his familiarity with Horton's scheme. But he was the 4th OLB out of 4 - who's there now? Curious.

  • Yes, even with recent pickups I would have thought Groves may have had a lot to contribute. Guess the braintrust thought otherwise.

    I bet 2 questions are keeping those wide receivers around. Will Gordon be there? And who's the QB gonna be?

    Gordon can make any QB look good, but if he's not around it's going to put a premium on chemistry. Some wideouts just seem to develop a better rapport with some quarterbacks, and it's too soon to tell who will will click with who until pads are on and full speed ahead is happening. Best to keep all options available until then.

    I figured someone was going to get cut after OTAs. The new brass has to make a statement and keep the embers hot under their asses.

  • Groves was a fiery leader, but at 29?, coming back from a severe ankle injury...

    he probably didn't fit the defense, as in pass protection.

  • This move doesn't make sense to me, unless the guy is breaking a bunch of team rules. Lord knows, the new regime won't put up w/that....look at how fast they moved on Gordon. LOL

    Groves missed a lot of time last year, but when he did play.........he showed exposiveness off the edge and created quite a bit of havoc when he was in the game. I was looking forward to seeing more of him on the field this year.

    Strange move.
